Well, I saved on an external drive first, just to make sure. And you were right. I did not have to do that.

Having lost some files once, am very, very careful.

Thank you, again.
I was anxious, so I went ahead and saved two different file folders containing info for my project.

Deleted Trial, installed Paid, and it told me when I tried to import my project that it was made on a later version. So I downloaded and installed a patch and it worked. Found, as you said, it retained all my files. Better safe than sorry.

My thanks again.
Do I have to save some folders and files before I uninstall the trial version....so they are available to the Paid version when it is installed??? And if so, how? Rename the folders and then rename to previous names???

Not sure how to handle this.

b...........
Do you mean I should save all those files somewhere else until the Paid version is installed?

To Playsound:

Do I understand correctly, that when uninstalling the Trial version, it will not delete any of those files that I will need? It will only delete the program files themselves.

That when I open my project in the new PD12, it will have the name "cyberlink" attached somewhere which I will delete.

Don't understand the last part of your message:
.... "has been added to your project done in the trial version." Or is that just emphasizing that "Cyberlink" has been added??

thanks a bunch.
I have been using Trial Version for a project. Almost finished. But want to install paid version and certainly do not want to lose anything when I uninstall the trial.

What files are necessary for me to keep so I still have all components of the project?

B................
Yes, I saved it.....gave it a name. (I assume that made a template. If not, then that was my problem and I will have to learn how to make a template.)Still never found it.
BUT went back, pulled up a previous project (I save each particular project every time I make a change), inserted it in the proper timeline this time, and it worked.

Still don't understand what happened. But am using a trial version. After saving and burning this project (want to make sure I have it after all this work), I will install paid version and see if it works better.

Thank you so much.
Here i go again. OPened title room. Made Title and Credits with a photo as a background. It appears to be working perfectly in title room.So I drag it to the timeline and get only a black screen when I preview.

I cannot find the file anywhere.

What have I neglected or done wrong??
to Carl 312

What a big help that was!!!!!

There is so much for me to learn. This helps so very much.

Again, deepest appreciation....until my next question.
When inserting a clip, somehow it severed a very short part of previous clip which is now out of place and I cannot remove it.

What's a guy to do??? Can't even click on it to identify it, but when I view that area of the timeline, it shows up.

Looks like I will have many questions as I use this program, until I get it down pat.

thanks............
Am going to try it later this afternoon, when I have time.

Then will experiment with burning DVD from Create Disc tab. May have some more questions, but not for a few days, I don't think.

Thanks again.

Betty.............
To Optodate:

Thank you! Thank you! You told me exactly what I was looking for.

Yes, I looked at the link...........but still didn't find what I wanted. Maybe I didn't look long enough. Or didn't understand what I was reading. Needed your brief instructions.

Previously, I did the Create Disc and it did not turn out very well. Must have done something wrong. I do not want to create menus, playback options, etc. Want to be able to stick DVD in player and have it play.

Now I will do what you suggest........Not sure, do I still encode with DVD Flick or can I skip that step and go straight to ImgBurn?

My appreciation,
Betty.............

Right! I know how to import, etc. Have done all that with no problem. Have produced and burned a couple of my projects using AVI and MPG4. But not sure which I should use or if there is a better option.

My question is what options do I select when I click on Produce. That's what I'm ignorant about.

I just downloaded Nvidia GeForce driver... # 337.88 so drive up-to-date.

Sorry I know so little about some areas. So I need some direction. Have no idea what format to use for best results.

My deepest gratitude for the help I receive.

Betty...........

I am not into the technical aspect of making DVDs and so I need a step by step lesson in exactly how to Produce a short video that will be burned to a DVD. I use DVD Flick and then burn with ImgBurn. But the Producing in PowerDirector is my problem.

I am using a Canon PowerShot SX130 (have camcorders available but this serves the purpose) which gets great clips: 1280X720, 30 fps. I want best quality as I am not interested in YouTube, etc. Size of files is of no concern. I first produced to AVI, then to MPG4.....
not sure if that was what I should have done.

I am using the trial version. Bought the paid version yesterday, but afraid of losing what I have done so far by uninstalling and installing full version.

Should I continue using 1280x720.....can I get that quality in my end results?

As you can see, I am floundering............When I go to Produce in PowerDirector, I see several options and not sure which to use. As I said, step by step, please.

I notice several senior contributors online often, fast responses, I commend you. We really appreciate your help.

Betty...........
Have been using the trial version for a couple days. Impressed enough to buy the full Ultra version this morning.

Do I install over trial version? Uninstall trial and then install full verion?

Cannot find the answer, either here in Forum or Googling it.

Betty.......

Appreciate your help. Tomorrow I will render and burn and see what happens.

When I reloaded the project, some of the voice overs did not play. Weird.

Again, when I burn, we will see what occurs. This is with trial version. Tomorrow I am buying the program. Hoping it is the trial version that is causing my problems.

Thanks again.
B....................
I opened Chapter Room in Edit Module. Clicked on one of the Chapters listed on the right in that room. Nothing changed. I saved it under a different name so I could compare.

Should I see any change anywhere? The numbered chapters over the different clips are as I originally described and still in the same places.

By adjust as necessary, you mean change the sequence so it comes last?

New program and I have a lot to learn.

Thanks for the suggestion.

B.......
I inserted a project in the middle of my main project. The beginning of main project has 1. Chapter 1 over the first clip.
Two-thirds down the timeline view, over a clip, it reads 2. Chapter 1

Will this mess up the sequence of my clips when rendered and burned???
