Quote It's a bloody shame that an expensive product lake PDVD17 doesn't play HDR (BT2020) content while Windows 10 (creators update) native and FREE Movies & Tv does the job very well

Movies & TV is the native player that Microsoft planted in Windows, I think it might have the BEST compatiblity on Windows PC than any other software player. (Yep, it may be lack of full video format support versus other open source players, because it does not invest that much on FULL video format codec so far.)

HDR specification for PDVD17, and the FAQ for your reference:

https://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=19876
https://www.cyberlink.com/support/faq-content.do?id=19881&isDraft=1#HDR

By the way, nothing is truly/purely free.
Since Windows 10, OS has stricter security limitation that does not allow other program to set file association directly.

You may do it at Windows control panel yourself.

The steps are similar to Windows 7.

Quote Hi Jeannie. I am using PDVD for more than 10 years and with my several trial, paid or OEM versions I never experienced anything like this on five different computers and maybe 10 optical drives. As you probably know, some DVDs are set to start with subtitles ON or even a local language ON. One local distribution company (I do live in Europe) is particulary known for this - DVDs mastered by this company always set the audio track and/or subtitles to our language without asking.

In PDVD settings - General - More settings, there is a language section. I can imagine this could be causing problems. Is this set correctly to English? Did you try to switch between English and system default? It may help and it may not. Most importantly, did you uninstall PDVD, deleted all personal settings and installed it again? It is a first rule when a software malfunctions - a re-installation.

Right-mouse click during playback of that "movie with commentary" and select Language. Is the commentary track on the first (top) position of the list or not?

I've tried reinstalling PowerDVD (and have updated it once). I've also gone into the menus of the affected DVDs and switched off sub-titles to no avail.

You can start the DVD movie playback in powerdvd movie library -> disc drive page.
But, not simply double-clicking the video files (on movie disc) to play from windows/powerdvd file explorer.
The above steps can help you start the movie disc features (subtitle, multi-audio, closed captions, etc.) properly.

Then, try to switch the subtitle and commentary off on the DVD movie menu, but not only from powerdvd playback control menu.
Certain movie title might have default subtitle and commentary settings that overrides or on top of software player playback settings.
I think that there are many remote controllers made by different vendors, and they may ship with certain bundle devices.
Perhaps, the basic media keys: play/pause/fast forward/rewind, or something like that might work well.
But, the other buttons may or may not work. It leaves to how remote controller vendor configured themselves.

If you have a programmable remote controller that capable to customize each button's command with PC keyboard hotkeys combinations, you can customize the hotkey combinations on each button, and operate those playback controls on any software player not limited to powerdvd.

I don't know if there is one customizable/programmable remote controller existing on the market.
You can study on the Internet if you really wanna do it.
It may not be easy.
Quote Hi there,

I purchased PowerDVD 17 yesterday as successor of my PowerDVD 14 installation.

In PDVD14 I was able to autoplay videos in cinema mode with this command line:

PDLP.exe AUTOPLAY BD E:\ /LaunchProgram PowerDVDCinema

The disc starts directly after PDVD14 has loaded.

In PDVD17 the TV mode starts, but the disc won't play automatically. I see a huge play button and have to hit enter on my remote to start the video.

Do you have any idea how to fix the auto play functionality with PowerDVD17 that the video playback starts directly again?

Thank you very much in advance!

Cheers,

Dennis

PDVD16 TV mode, and I guess it's compatible with PDVD17.
Quote In the previous release (PowerDVD 16) I could select the option to convert a 2D movie to 3D which would happen immediately. The video would be transformed to a blue/red 3D image. In trying to do the same with PowerDVD 17 this no longer seems to work. I select "convert 2D media to 3D" from "more 3D preferences" but the movie remains 2D. Is there something I need to do to get this to work?

I'm running Windows 10 on a Lenovo Z710.

Does your Lenovo laptop have intel gpu?
I have no idea of the exact spec on your laptop, but 3d is mainly powered by gpu.

You may try GPU driver update first.
If you contacted them 7 times with no replies, it can be a serios problem. (Perhaps cyberlink is going to bankcruptcy.)

But, what if you missed their reply as Stevek mentioned above?

Understood your anger if they truly don't reply you, but your statement is a serious charge on cyberlink.

No offense :)
Quote I upgraded from PDVD 16 to 17 for my preparation of playing UHD movies. However I'm unable to

play .iso files with PDVD17, it plays blu-ray dvd folders but won't reconize .iso files. I have a physical

copy of PDVD 16 so I'm not worried about reverting back. I'm just wondering if there is a solution?

Are there cracked UHDBD iso available on the Internet?

I mean it must be a real "cracked" UHDBD iso that verified by experts.

If it is true, it will be very interesting and I'm wondering where your file source is.

Also, the virtual drive should be able to mounted as a "UHDBD" drive but not just a BD drive.
Quote I have a Windows 10 computer and have installed many PowerDVD programs. But this is the first time I've seen Windows reject an instaltio. I checked properties of the file ( CyberLink_PowerDVDCopy_PDC120912-01) and the certificate was revoked. How can this be fixed, or should I just ask for a refund?

No Windows 10.

Quote Naw, it is a bug. The auto-resume works with the blu ray for a while but then powerdvd just forgets about it. It is reproducible with a blu ray where auto resume definitely works.

Cloud Atlas is a 2013 title, and it seems has special features in addition to main movie.

I think it is a BDJ movie, and the software player cannot perform resume feature at player side.
It's good if this title has its own resume feature on movie menu, otherwise, there will be no resume capability.

However, you insist it's a bug. How about check other company's comment

Online discussion

By the way, I don't think it's easy to find a BD title that does not use BDJ currently unless it's a very old title released decade ago.
mkv is just a container. you can encode the video with various encoding (H.264, HEVC, etc) format in MKV.
I guess your YouTube downloader encode YouTube video as some format that cyberlink software does not support.
Quote I have a samsung Gear 360 camera 2017 edition. I have downloaded the ActionDirector software (which is advertised and bundled with the camera) from Samsung's website, using the link provided to me by their technical support department.

When the software launches, it asks me to attach the camera to my PC and turn it so that the software can activate. When I do this and click Next, ActionDirector crashes every single time.

I have sent the error reports to you over the last week, but have yet to receive a reply.

For clarity, I have tried:

1) 2 different PCs, each running Windows 10 1703 OS Build 15063.540

2) Several USB ports (both USB2 & USB3)

3) 4 different USBC cables when connecting the camera.

I have tried using ActionDirector 2.0.1619 and 2.0.1807 on both PCs but still with no luck.

As it stands, I'm ubale to use a camera that I paid over £200 for

I eagerly await your help.

Many thanks,

Matt

P.S - I note that you don't have an ActionDirector sub-forum so apologies for posting this here - I didn't know where else to post it.

You want community's help here on forum or Cyberlink help?
You bought the camera, and got the excluive software both from Samsung.
You can simply ask them to help you.
Quote i have a problem with PDVD17 because do not work autoswitching to 24p mode on my TV (Sony Bravia W800B) when is connected through Onkyo 905 amplifier.

Amplifier settings are corectlly set HDMI Output resolution to "Through" and I'm sure this working because in Total Media Theatre 6 work without any problem, TV is nicely switched to 24p during playing Blu-Ray movies, so it's definetly a PDVD17 software problem.

But what I noticed when I connect directly to TV then it's works, but through amplfier never work in PDVD17 . using latest build.

Please Cyberlink fix this.

I assume you are asking for other users' help, so you posted your problem here, right?

I am afraid that it cannot be simply concluded as a software problem, or Cyberlink can definitely fix this for you.

The key factor for your problem is that whether the Onkyo amplifier is connected or not.

Although you claim total media theater work good, it does not mean all other software will work good because they are different players.

There are several combinations that might cause this compatibility problems with the following factors: VGA(HDMI), amplifier, Windows, powerdvd.

Perhaps, you can do some adjustments on above components to sort out the issue yourself at first if you don't wanna talk with cyberlink.
Quote I might be barking up the wrong tree here, but I tried to record the screen while playing a Blu ray Disk.

To my understanding Screen recorders capture everything that is showing on the screen.

No problems with the sound, but NO VIDEO.

Is there an issue with the program setting, or is the Screen recorder not designed for that purpose.

Blu-ray movie is intellectual properties protected content, it will not allow "capturing" unless you do some unauthorized operations to crack the movie disc. powerdvd won't do that for you.
Quote I have a Lenovo P71 with a 4k screen, Xeon processor, 64 gb ram, an a 2tb Harddrive, and Nvidia Quadro P5000 with 16gb ram.

Tried connecting Pioneer bdr-xd06j-uhd drive.

Cyberlink detects my uhd disk, but shuts down because advanced protected audi video path is not available.

Attached the BD advisor log file

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks, TCN

I'm not sure whether your nvidia setting panel can control your laptop screen using iGPU or not, and this setting might still not compatible with UHDBD.

Some dual graphics laptops (but not all of them) have the option in nvidia panel to control which GPU output the display.
You may set the laptop screen output by iGPU, then check the advisor again.
Quote My workstation runs Windows 10 (latest updates) and PowerDVD 17 (latest updates). It has three internal optical blu-ray drives (all new). Windows recognizes these correctly as does PowerDVD. PowerDVD functions correctly when there is a disk in any one of the drives but as soon as there is a disk in more than one drive it doesn't recognize either disk as a video disk and therefore won't play either. It does read the disk title and displays that. Other applications (such as MakeMKV) recognize and operated with all three drives simultaneously but I cannot get PowerDVD to work in this configuration when more than one disk is loaded. Am I missing a configuration parameter somewhere, or is this a limitation of PowerDVD. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've tried researching but haven't found anything useful. -Chris

Did you launch MakeMKV decryption simultaneously when powerdvd was launching?
Ensure there is no other processes or background processes occupying the optical drives simultaneously.
Quote I have the subscription version of PowerDVD17 and would like to know how do i activate the bundled version of Power Media player for Android?

Going to the 'Devices and media' section of PowerDVD and selection "Power media Player" no longer has my activation code.

I think PowerDVD 17 does not ship with Power Media Player bundle version since the very beginning. https://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=17032
Quote the problem is still not fix for us nvidia users even with the last power dvd update 1808

why ??

Although the nv gpu model has very powerful computing power, it does not present it can play anything without others compatiblity support.

they don't claim support the hdr for nvidia gpu at the begining.
I may consider it is not a issue-fixing, but adding a feature or compatibilities.

No offense, let's not being so harsh. What do you think?
Quote Can't find any way to configure Stereo audio upscaling for 5.1/7.1 systems,I am sure it worked on previous versions,.

Using Kodi on the same windows 10 PC(which is not so good with blueray iso files) the system has no trouble upscaling to 7.1.

On the side It doesnt seem to queue my streaming audio files Andriod Bubble software.

does the following setting bring the upscaling you asked?

audio setting -> 8 speakers.

output mode -> truetheater surround or dolby prologic
Quote I can watch my mkv file on PowerDVD 17 with HDR on. I love it. But once I display subtitle, HDR is disabled. Is it limitation ?

Do you leave full screen mode playback after applying subtitle?
Embedded subtitle in video, or SRT/ASS... file?

Quote So far you are the only one that asked ! undecided

How much $$ should Cyberlink put into development of this feature for a seemingly small amount of users.

Are you just typing to save $$ on a DVD vs CD cost?

"Development of a feature"???

All they need to do is REMOVE A RESTRICTION. STOP CHECKING DISC CAPACITY BEFORE PLAYING! It doesn't require "investment" or the addition of a "feature" to disable a disc capacity check before allowing files to play!

If you believe this is a complicated request, you don't understand the problem.

Perhaps this request is not "complicated", but it would be against DVD or BD video disc spec whatever.
I don't think a commercial software company will remove restrictions to implement the idea.
Open source free player could be very flexible to do everything, but commcercial player is not on the same page.

Why there are universal specs for video discs (BD DVD AVCHD...) to let every hardware/software companies follow?

You can consider it's a capitalism action made by those greedy enterprises trying to grab more money.
But the spec can help the produced video discs can play by all other players in case "complicated" compatibility problems.
And the video players can follow the industrial standard to design playback features accordingly.

Honestly, if your need is to burn full hd video on cheaper DVD disc, just use the universal AVCHD format to produce them.
