I can confirm that HDR is working on 4k mkv files that have the HDR metadata enbedded. I am using a GTX1060 connected to a 4k tv with HDR. You have to male sure the following.

Your desktop is running at 4k resolution (nvidia control panel)

-10bit depth

4:2:2 chroma

-4k compatible hdmi cable

-a file that is 2160p with hdr

If you are trying to play physical media, you need a Pioneer uhd player, kaby lake proceessor and a ton of other worthless requirements that make it undesirable.

I have tested out native 4k movies and HDR works perfect. The 100% enhance mode on the video files 1080p or less works HDR as well. For some reason, 4k files that do not have HDR do not trigger the video enhancement option.

Dont judge anything by those files. I downloaded the world in 4k and it judders on the Windows10 TV and Media app (but plays hdr correctly), is black on the PowerDVD17...plays well natively on a USB drive thru the TV.

Those are high bitrate files that are not.good for playing on a pc at this point. Maybe the HiMedia 4k player will play it well, but not my PC. Power DVD 17 is great for playing x264 4k mkvs, 1080p HDR, etc. I guess there isnt a media player fully optimized on the PC to play these files.

powerdvd 17 is the problem because it's support only integrated gpu.....

Sorry, however you will have to find your own movie files to test. As a measure, if you have any 1080p movies on your computer, the HDR slider works i the same manner as a 4k movie file.

True video enhancements on PC mode allow you to add HDR on 720 and 1080p files..and it works really well. On tv mode it is under the 100% option withion truetheatre video. I would suggest using that to determine if its your setup, not the programs fault.

MirceaForce: UHD blu-ray disc playback requirements and 4k video playback with or w/out HDR are two different things.

you did have the same problems like i did

other files or not true hdr files

to test that we need 60fps/60hz 10 bit hdr files those are real

other files that you find on trackers or other sites are encoded to hdr

quote from cyberlink

Dear Alexandru,
Thank you for contacting CyberLink Technical Support.
I understand your concern, that you have problem while playing HDR videos on the Cyberlink software PowerDVD.
Regarding your concern, I would like to inform you that to play back
the HDR video, it may require the OS, GPU, display device, display
cables, etc supports to process and deliver HDR video.Per our
testing and technical investigation, there is Intel graphic only fully
compatible with PowerDVD 17's HDR 10 video playback feature. -- https://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdvd-ultra/spec.html CyberLink is NOT able to guarantee the HDR playback functionality on other current non-supported platforms. For
NVIDIA graphics, it has open issues listed in NVIDIA documents that
waits for graphics manufacturer's technical investigation or further
resolving. The incompatible issue might not be available to resolve at
CyberLink software side solely.-- http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/382.05/382.05-win10-win8-win7-desktop-release-notes.pdf (Open Issues in Version 382.05 WHQL -> [Power DVD 17]: The display may go blank while playing HDR video in exclusivefull-screen mode. [200300818])

Micea...I dont know why you insist on saying it doesnt when I have stated several damn times that it works....no im not talking about those damn demo videos from that site....im talking ripped UHDs in .mkv format.

However you feel to justify and get your purchase refunded go ahead and do it, just dont say it can and cannot do without troubleshooting.
