I have always just ignored it! Just click OK and place the clip on timeline. Even when PD itself produces a clip one can have this pop up - so I have given it a rest by just ignoring it. Makes no difference.
I don't know if this has anything to do with anything - but as this thread is getting longer with the same issue, I thought I might try and see what would happen;
I actually never use direct upload - except for 2 times earlier years. I prefer to use YT's uploader. Anyway; I put a few seconds on timeline and go through the procedure. NO - no linking luck. I close PD, open and go through the procedure again. NO - no linking luck. Give it a rest. Upon checking my mail, I have now 2 warnings from Google telling me there has been 2 attempts to sign in to my account with Internet Explorer on Windows, - do I recognize this activity? Yes, I do - but my default browser is not IE but FireFox. Is the use of IE the default for direct upload? If so, it's CL's choice?
I've produced quite a few videos for projection and have never even considered that bitrate would be an important factor for projection. The important thing is that the produced video plays smoothly in whatever player is being used.
"Stock" material? Do you mean motion background type clips? If there's not much fast motion, a lower bitrate will be just fine. Essentially, if it looks good & plays well on your PC it'll be fine.
I use projection all the time in the classroom. From an i5 laptop on to a Smartboard. PowerPoint, .flv, gifs, .swf, video formats in different bitrates and size; whatever shows on the laptop is being projected as is. I often have to compress PowerPoints; no difference in quality.
As for free footage; spending some time searching you will find stuff here and there, CC-stuff or offers by companies. Sometimes I need a bit of footage I know I can't shoot myself due to my location on the globe . I find it conveniant once or twice to pay up for offers when they pop up and spend time downloading. This way I will have a good library to dive in to. A quick search today took me *here- no idea what you will be able to get out of it.
Quote:Instead of trimming several times, you can also hignlight a section, right-click and choose to produce just that section. Sorry, I can't remember the exact wording used.
you have plans I understand! You may have different ways to go about these ideas. Of course if you sketch or you are planning to go in to 3D stuff you have different programs to choose from. I have earlier been looking in to 3D making software but have decided it will be taking too much of my time to get in to it. Maya, Blender etc will take you in to the 3D world; great if you get the hang of it. Then you have the different sketching / drawing / cartoon softwares - if you are going that route.
Now, these days, there are many tools / utilities to find online to use for free. Getting to know some of them and spend some time trying things out can possibly be a route. Not seldom I use tools like these myself - if I am in need of a gif animation, a funky image in a hurry or even a little sequense of png files converted in to a video file which I can overlay and chromakey out.
Just now I went to this site: http://gifmaker.me/ where you can make animated gifs or even download your .mp4 file for free. You can make a few edits. I uploaded a few png files and downloaded an .mp4 file. Under, in the first round of display, you can see how the file was when downloaded and overlayed + chromakeyed in PD. In the second display, I just sliced up the downloaded file in bits fitting the different leaves, added fade in/fade out + made the duration of each slice longer in Power Tools (Video Speed).
You mention letters and more dynamic movements. I gather you have looked through PD's text templates. Quite a few choices there. Also, you can maybe find something here?
What are you planning to do? Your head - is it an image, footage, drawing? There are several free- but also not free - to pick from. I'm just wondering; could you just use the image of your head as png file- and keyframe it up/down?
As you both will know, I haven't the competance to follow your testing. I am just a user - who some times stumbles over something I find odd. Like the NB Fx's.
Jeff just said:
"There must be some implementation anomaly with
several of the Newblue FX’s, like NB Oil, NB Rolling Shutter to name a
few. Maybe someone else could try them and see how they work on your
platforms."
No matter which computer, the NB Fx's are demanding/using/ sucking out lots of power, in PD as well as in another editor I have. Back in September / October, I posted something about it:
Many of the NB Fx's are slowing down not only produce, but also preview- no matter how you set the preview. In my "other editor" the NewBlues always get marked red in preview rendering and may also cause the audio to spark in preview. So yes, if I use a NB effect (which I try to avoid, really) I experience anomaly.
Nina
PS: Does this new text editor have a hidden possibility to post a quote?
You will have to either use one of the many title templates you find in the Title room and place the template on it's own track under your videoclip - or -you can make a title on a transparent background in a photo editor.
Browse through all the title templates and see what's available. It's a lot! Once you have chosen a template and placed it in timeline, highlight it and click on Modify. Then do the changes you would like.
I'm following this thread because you make it interesting for me (and possibly others); a tech light person! I actually understand what you are trying to do, trying to fix. Commending you, Ron!
I wonder, if I may tiptoe in with a whisper.....
"With regard to the nVidia driver, try using a Custom Installation and uncheck everything except the graphics driver."
I remember - and maybe others here remember too - the fantastic jagged yellow (and sometimes pink) line I got in PiP window+ rendering in whatever format. Installing ONLY the graphic driver solved most problems I had in PD12. Following optodata's advice in this I was good to go. Upon installing new drivers I stick with this routine.
The OP of this thread (Speaker)has not (yet) come back. The OP didn't mention unlinked audio/video files, neither did Matt, I believe. That isn't to say that maybe the problem(s) indeed is the unlinking-issue. Maybe more info?
Of all the different warning signs I've had PD display during the years, this is one I haven't seen! ( I rarely use SVRT....for some reason I don't quite trust the thing....)
These might not be what you wanted, maybe too wide bars for you. You can make your own of course. You use the bars as image overlays to your clips,- clips which you place in separate tracks.
So many times I have been seconds away from posting on similar remarks/posts like the last onesin this thread.
As you may have noticed (you must have noticed) there are very, very few womenstaying on in this forum. It is not because women don’t edit- and frankly can be very good at it –but it is because one sees postings like these last ones in this thread. This “discussion” is simplynot necessary, not helping anybody, not encouraging people to join this forum.
SoNic67; What I am about to say is not meant as “personal attacks” at all. It’s just because of observations over time, and you happen to be a member who has posted many times similar things.
People who come in to this forum are editors of absolutely all kinds; from professionals to novices – from young gamers to retired people starting out a new hobby.People have questions about so many aspects of editing – also a lot about tech equipment.
Following your posting, SoNic67, – in a relatively short time span as a member of this forum – your main interest seem to be on the tech side of things. Please correct me…..I have not watched any video from your hand, but I may have missed it of course.
Do you need top of the high end equipment to edit and produce a fairly good video? No.
Is it possible to use laptops for editing? Yes.
It all depends on what and how you edit – where your video is to be displayed.I have been editing for years.Slowly, step by step, using hundreds of hours – I have learned some things here and there, using different software – more or less complex, more or less expensive. In my avatar you see I have been using PDr since 2008, so……
If one is not a professional (i.e. earning money) - editing is a hobby. You have to have some tools to exercise this hobby; this you can buy. But then you have to have ideas, an eye for how to put together things so a viewer will choose to stay watching the video to the end. This – you can not buy. This is something graphic cards, cameras, 4k, drones and walls of TV monitors can’t fix for you.
In some threads I read about all the super, expensive equipment members display and I wonder “what is made / edited with all this gear?” Nor ’easter posted a very nice example and I agree with Tony saying “I want one!”
Young people now a days have the pleasure of going to collage/Uni and choose different kinds of media as subjects. They spend years learning all kinds of equipment and software. They work on location and in studios. What quite a few of these youngsters produce is stunning, breathtaking. And it has to be, really, because the competition for the jobs out there is harsh. These productions are totally out of my league and will stay out of my league, but I so enjoy watching productions elegantly made.
“Your laptop/desktop can’t cope! Do you expect to edit with this PC?”
Again: what am I editing, how do I edit, where is the video to be displayed? Before considering purchasing a high(er) end PC I would certainly ask myself: How much will I be editing? What will I be editing? What will I be doing with the produced videos What can I afford?
In closing this I will remind everyone of us to remember we are a group of people trying to help other people along. We post – or not. We post if we think something is relevant or helping, we do not post if we only have insults to write.
