Quote Close PD and copy and paste this location into Windows File Explorer: C:\Users\zorik\OneDrive\Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector\Preview Cache Files\team1_0a48b8c7.mp4

You might need to remove the file name (team1_0a48b8c7.mp4) to view it in the folder, or you can go online with your browser and find it from the OneDrive webstite.

If you can play that clip from there, it will show you which timeline clip is causing problems and you can try converting the original clip to another format using a free tool like VirtualDub2 or Handbrake.

To seamlessly integrate the converted clip into your existing project, rename the original clip then copy the converted version to the same folder and give it the exact same name that the original clip had. When you reopen the project in PD, it will use the new version of the clip and hopefully you won't see the error message again.

Thnaks! I will try that!
Quote Smartfit for a 16:9 Aspect ratio project may be desired. You may want to look into creating an AVCHD Disc on DVD. This is 720/60p and 1080/60p quality on a DVD. No BD drive is needed, just a plain DVD drive. The created disc can be played from any pc with only a DVD drive and on higher end Sony standalone BD players. You can create them with low bitrates like 6 to 8 Mbps video to fit that 90 minute project on a DVD+R DL.

Read the help files in PD19 to help get you started.

Thanks! So you don't think I should go for the full 1280? or will the difference not be noticeable on a hi-def TV when playing a DVD?

Wait.. I was looking for the Smart fit button (went onto the index of the help menu to find out that it was two words) and didn;t find it, but I fopund the "custom analysis" button. That gve me a selection of options.

I think 1280 should be the optimal size, I know it is 30 fps, and I am pretty sure MP4 is the right file format, so I selected the option that had those parameters, and started it rolling.

I wil update this when I see the result.
i tried rendering my video in AVC as an MP4 ans I got the following warning:
"A media file in your project maynot fully comply with your file format standard, or your system myay lack the required coding componenents for this file. Please try again using annother file format."

Here are the problem details:

I went back to the editing timeline, moved one thing and tried to save the file and I got the same warning.

How can I figure out which of the dozen or so video and music files I am using in my project is the one to which it is referring?
I see that in PowerDirector 19 the choices of formats in which to render video has changed.

I have edited together a 90-minute video that includes a lot of hi-def footage and I would like to take advantage of that for the DVD that I am producing. It is 30 FPS (NTSC).

What would be the best format setting to use?
Quote Thanks for all the help! And for letting me know that I needed to update my system, which I just did. Didn't fix the problem I was having, but I will try the workaround you recommended. Now I'm facing another, unrelated issue though. I should probably start a new post to ask for advice adout that.

I had what sounded like what you had, the video files frommy Fuji Foinepix 6000 (and no other source) had that "pop" at the beginning of the clip when I drropped it into the timeline, and deleting that first frame, or any length of the front of the video did not eliminate it.

None of the suggestions helped, so I just made my movie, "Produced" it, then started a new project, dropped the new production into the timeline, then carefully deleted that ne fram at the beginning of eash shot from that camera with the "pop."

It was an annoying, time-consuming workaround, but it got the job done.
Quote Your concern has not been duplicated in my system. Placed a Black Color bard, The Default Title, and a sample video clip sequentially on track 1. Placed the Fade transition between the Title and clip as Overlap. Placed the transition as a Prefix at the beginning of the clip. Placed the transition between the Title and clip again as Cross behavior and all is still well. Replacing that Title with one that has starting and ending effects did not change the behavior I see.

Some Transitions do have a Direction setting but none have a reverse transition button that I can recall.

It may be helpful to others if you post a screenshot of your expanded timeline with the scrubber on the beginning of the transition. It may also be helpful if you do a screen recording showing that behavior.

I don't seem to have had the problem recently, so I will check back if it happens again. Thank you for your response!
I want to open my video with a black screen, opening titles, and then fade into the image. When I drag & drop the "fade" transition onto the beginning of the clip, the clip appears, fades out in 2 seconds, then the video appears and continues playing. It is as if I had dropped a fade-out onto the first two seconds.

I tried dropping other transitions in, and they all act like ending transition, not like transitions at the beginning of a clip.

There used to be a "reverse transition" button, but I an;t find it now. The only "modification" I seem to be able to do to a transition is changing the duration of it.

How can a turn a transition into a [transition}-in, rather than a [transition]-out?
I have not found this in the PD19 forum nor any moire recently than 2020.

They all seem to descend into coputer tech gobbldygook involving pathways and stuff.

My CLPD19 shut down, and I am not sure if it was by itself or I accidentally clicked on the "x" in the corner.

When I tried to reppen it from the link in the Start menu in my Windows11, I got the "Concurrent user sessions not supported" box.

I cannot find Cyberlink Powerdirector or Powerdirector in the Task manager.

I used the "Restart" function. It still happened.

I shut off the compouter and left it off for several hours, then turned it on again. It still happened.

That was about a ahlf hour ago. Let me try it one more time...

...I clicked on the icon on my desktop instead of the one in tmy start menu. Could that have been the difference al along? I don't want to try shutting the program down again and wait hours in case it happens again.
I recently had the situation wher my PowerDirector edit file of a project got disconnected from all the video files, to the program made me, one by one, locate each video file that had ben edited into the clip. However, I had several instances of having more than one file of the same name in my computer, and in two of those instances, I chose the wrong video file.

So now, in this huge project with complicated edits, there are clips from the wrong files popping up.

How can I get the correct video file applied to those edits wihtout disconnecting the whole project from all the files and starting over again?
Quote To pick up where this thread left off (because I am having the same problem)...

If mute/unmute is the little speaker icon below the preview windo, then yes, it was mute when I opened the program. I Unmuted it and made sure the volume level was high.

There is checkmark in the audio box for the track.

The audio track on the clip is showing waves.

There is a littel white handle at either end of the audio track.

The audio adjustment window shows +0.0, which is default volume level of a clip.

The one difference/change that has ccurred is that I pluged in my earphones a couple of days ago. Sincethen the sound has not been working without the earphnes. IT still works with the earphones.

Any cules? Hints? Ideas? What am I missing here?

Crazy thing. I closed up y laptom (on which I had been editing), carried it accross town, opened it up a few hours later and presto! The sound works!

Thanks, guys! This is awesome!
Remember that 3-hour documentary I've been doing? I am SO CLOSE to finishing! I am just setting up the DVD menus on Powerdiretor13 now.

I have figured out how to upload my own music into the DVD menu, but the starting point and duration of it is not serving my project.

So the question is, using Powerdirector 13, is there a way to set the starting point and duration of the background music for the DVD menu?
Thanks! It works perfectly! I will be able top use this for a lot of things!

Next questions: Now that we have that, is there any way to set the location of the center of the circle? I mean, what if the subject I want to close in on is on the lower-fight of the screen, not the center. Is there a thing for that, or would htat be some sort of more sophisticated transition template or program?
Hi. I am using PD13 on my Windows 10 on my Asus laptop. I am almost done with my 3-hour epic documentary, and the perfect finish would be an iris fadeout on one guy's face. You know, like in the old silent movies whare the screen goes black as a circle gets smaller and smaller on one character's face. I can't seem to find that kind of a transition in the transition room. Is there a place to find such a thing or a way to make it?
Well, I did several things.

I reduced the bitrate when "producing" the video on PD13, setting the bitrate manually, coming up with a smaller size video that looked just fine, as the others did. No noticeable difference from the full-size video.

I then tried dropping that back into PD13 to create a disk and again, I would up qith the 11+ GB file. I figured out that whatever size of the video, the size of the file that will try to go on the DVD wil be the same for that length of video.

So I just took the full-size 720x480 version of the movie, dropped it in, set the p[rogram for an 8.5GB DVD, set it for "SmartFit" (which woudl try to burn an 8499MB file on the 8.5MB disk) and in the name of almighty Kafka, set it to burning.

To my surprise and amazement, it worked! I am watching it now in my DVD player on my 21-inch cathode-ray tube TV and it looks great! The only critique is that the image is "stretched" ever so slightly from left to right (making everyone look ever so slightly short and fat), and the sides the image is trimmed right to the edge ot the "TV safe zone" for which PD 13 provides guidelines (I guess those lines are there for a reason, eh?).

I will be watching it on a nice big flatscreen soon and make a decision as to whether this is the answer or not, but it looks good so far.

I will have to adjust the sound and a few other details, but that's all about editing, not mastering and burning.

Thanks for all your help, everyone! I feel I know a lot more about this part of the video production process now!
Thanks guys. I will see what I can do with your advice.

BTW, I don't need it to be on a single layer disk, I just want to be able to fit it on one disk, so dual-layer for the 3 hour movie is OK.

Also, I just figured out how to open those pictures you have been attaching, so hopefully that will help
HI folks. Thanks for your help so far. Here are some answers and an update and an update of the question:

This project is full of action; the world championships of medeival armored combat. This is the "fyull-fight" version that will have al the action that involved the US team. Therfore, it has to be 2 hours & 58 inutes (2:48 = typo). I trimmed about 20 seconds and the "Create Disk" screen now says it will come in at 11,379 MB (11.38GB).

I want to mass-produce this to sell to fans of the sport. Putitng it on two disks and packaging it in a 2-disk package will double the production cost and time.

I will also be producing a "documentary" version (more focus on interviews, highlights of the action) for the general public and submission to festivals that will be 90-120 minutes. Utlimately folks will be able to buy both that or a 2-disck version with the full-fight edition.

Someone pointed out that DVDs play at 720x480, do I don;t need to make my master at 1280x720. So I went back and produced the full fight version at the lower setting (DVD hq 720 x 480/60i (8Mbps)). It came out at 10.2 GB, total bitrate 8556kbps.

A couple of websites recommended using Handbrake to reduce the size of the video. I downloaded the program and tried re-mastering the video at all the default settings, and came up with a video that was 4.36 GB and total bitrate 3499kbps!

I played that file in my Windows Media Player, and it looked great! No noticable difference from the original!

So I opened a new project in PD13, dropped the smalled file in the library, pulled it onto the timeline, and saved the project. Then I went to "Create Disk" and found...that it still said the resultant file would be 11.39GB.

I even put the 10.2GB file in, did all the same things, and got the same result.

So is there some other program that will take that smaller file and let me create a menu and burn a disk at that smaller file's size? Or am I missing something?
Thanks for your reply!

Hmmm...you are asking questions to which I am seeking the answer...

In some of my own searching i have found something about "setting bitrates." does anyone know more about this? Is it a thing that can work in this instance?
Thanks! Does anyone know what software will reduce an 11.5 GB video file to less than 8.5 GB?
Hi Folks. I have gotten the hang of PD13 and finally finished my documentary. It clocks in at a running time of 2 hours, 48 minutes, 44 seconds and weighs in at 11,414 MB, and I have not even added the menu image and chapter breaks yet.

The way to mass-produce this video, Diskmakers tells me, would be to break it into two parts and put it on two dual-layer disks. Is there any way to comporess this into something that can fit on one disk? Either single or dual layer is OK, I just want to get it down to one disk.

The files I have been editing are MPEG-2, 1280x720/30p (20 Mbps) and I don't want to lose quality.

Thanks for all your help!
