Hi thesteved111,
The question that comes first is, what's changed from where it worked previously?

To get a clearer picture of what you have and what's going on, members will need to see a diagnostic file, info on your media and a screenshot of the Edit workspace - to show us what you're doing and looking at?

See the guides, Part A, B, E & F and J.

Here are a few guesses to check out:
Shadow edit files are being produced, slows the computer and you're editing before completion.
Preview player settings are too high.
Bitrate of the video is high
Video format is problematic, for example, avi (with a proprietary codec) rather than mp4.
GPU driver is out of date.
GPU is integrated or lower capable or needs to be software allocated.

As you can see, a wide number of guesses. If you provide the data requested, members may be able to assist you further.

Hi,
There is no simple way to resolve what you've done.

When you opened the pds a popup displays requesting you to locate the missing files... if you know where they are, you have that as one option to find them.

Now the second method is perhaps as complicated and involves identifying all the names of the media you used in the project.
1. Open the pds file using a text editor.
2. Look for the local addresses* in the pds of where the media files are located - you will need to look for jpgs, mp3's, mp4's etc. Once you've identified the file names and gone through your folders (where you moved the media to) you can then place copies of those media into one location.
*Use the text editor's search capability and use the file extensions of the media files, jpg, mp4, mp3 etc.
3. Back to the pds file, double click on it and PDR will open. When asked to browse, you should head for the new folder with your copied media.

Now if you've messed up the pds file previously by failing to browse etc. There is the Auto-Save back up pds file you can still use. C:\Users\ComputerName\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\14.0\AutoSave

It's a lesson learnt and not one you'll want to repeat.

People, please direct the new poster to start a new topic of their own rather than hijack another editor's thread. I understand the issue here and I sympathize but I'm locking the thread and requesting StokeDog to start a new topic.
Please read the guides at the start of the forum.
Dafydd
Hi JoeZ99,
Seeing as this thread has started to veer away from your topic and member's have answered you, I think it is time to lock the thread.

Hi WillChill58,
You need to start a new topic. By all means add your rant along with your customer support ticket number and I'll ask CyberLink to investigate and contact you.

Dafydd

Minor edits.
Hi cik56,

Longedge has given you some great info.

Take a look at my choices in Preferences.

Goodness, gracious. Now the power supply is being introduced as a factor?

Power Supply? Isn't that the PLUG that I plug into the wall outlet? I assumed that my power supply was an AC outlet?

This forum has been no help for someone like me who doesn't speak techno nerd speak. I'm just going to bring it in to a place that can figure it out for me and put in the upgrades that I need. Thanks everyone.

The PSU is one of the most important parts of a computer and if you don't have sufficient "Watts" your computer will remain weak and deficient.

Google "PSU".

Keeping a computer cool is another overlooked area. A hot computer throws up errors, gets sluggish. Plenty of cooling fans and clear out the dust is a must do. Sticking your computer in a "fridge" is a better option that leaving it out in the heat and dust!

This forum is about PowerDirector and members have latitude to seek guidence on video editing units/computers, so the info we do or don't give should not be knocked, we're primarily video editors with a lot of knowlege. If we're not much use to you in the areas you want to explore, then you should seek out another specialist forum (on computers and gpu's etc).

Dafydd

Edit: Added a couple of "" to fridge.
Start a new topic people. This thread has run its time. Any new solutions or questions, start a new topic please.
Hi,
3 to do's
1. Using the sample video in PDR14 produce a H264 mp4 1080p frame size, and then return that video to PDR14 Edit workspace and to the Track (remove the sample wmv video from the track.). Using the mp4 go to PowerTools/Video Speed and alter etc.
2. Please attach the MediaInfo* of the mp4's, the one you had problems with initially and the most recent one you produce. Specifically look at the data and compare.
3. With the original mp4, the one you "work" with, Place the video in the track and unattach the audio. Next, click on the video track and see if Video Speed can be applied. Ignore the audio track for the moment in the test.

Just a few ideas.

Hi Chiedu,
Please start a new topic for any questions you have rather than make entries in another editor's thread which has been answered and is over 2 years old.
See guides. http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/40361.page
We're all keen to answer new posts.
Thread closed.

Hi,
Just so you know, there is no need to install multiple patch updates, only ever apply the latest.

Appears to me you have a corrupted installation. The issue appears to be unique to your set up.

Have you tested the issue by using the Sample video*, Kite Surfing.wmv?
*rather than using any other video or media content.

Dafydd
Hi dajobix,
You should be able to install your version on PDR and have a 64bit set up on your new computer.
Dafydd

Post edited to correct data.
Hi dajobix,
edit: wrong info posted, see tomasc's post.

Dafydd
Hi SweDuck75
Good post.
Dafydd
Increase the length of the Title in the track.

Click to highlight Title in Track

Place Cursor over right edge of Title and move to extend or not

Dafydd
Hi sy,
You appear to be hijacking another editor's thread with your own issue/questions. The "form" here, is to start a new topic for your question and allow members to focus on the original poster's (OP's) question please.

Dafydd
HI AlS,
I do give CyberLink info on threads with possible solutions and I ask CyberLink to test and let me know the results. I do not always get the feedback from providing the info. This thread is one that has been referred.
Dafydd
Take a screenshot and attach it - to show us the actual issue you're referring to.

Just a guess:
Maybe unchecking hardware acceleration, we've seen similar issues in the past where pixelation of a video occurs when rendered to an mp4.

Dafydd
Quality in, quality out and vice versa - rubbish in rubbish out.

Make sure you're selecting the right templates in Produce that match the quality of the edited video.

Dafydd

Maybe the issue isn't to do with CyberLink's connection or the download files. Appears to be more to do with the internet connective device on your computer or the external hardware interface and ISP connection timing out. Your WiFi connection signal may also be contributing to the issue. Certainly the issue, to me, appears to be localised to your end rather than CyberLink's.

Clear out all the junk you have in the Windows Temp folder, that's a must do as you might just be repeating the error as it'll use the Temp content. Make sure you have sufficient download capacity from your ISP, you have a cable connection to your ISP/Computer interface and disengage your WiFi.

As I have already mentioned, this doesn't appear to be a CyberLink issue.

You might like to consider buying a disc version of the upgrade, that would circumvent the downloading and just leave you with the online activation confirmation when you install the software.

Just an opinion.
Dafydd
Cyberlink have requested me to remove off topic and inflammatory content. Please stay on topic.
