PowerDVD 13 will be another con. They bring out a broken version and never get round to fixing the problems, they just hope people will buy the new version when released.
I have learned the hard way after upgrading since version 8. I will not be conned again. If and when my current version needs replacing I will be looking to another company.
For example I was told I couldn't get Windows 8 modern UI compatibility because I purchased PDVD12 Ultra before a certain time, probably the worst customer service I've ever encountered. http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/26406.page#143722

Ah, OK. So I have PowerDVD Mobile, just not allowed to use it on my OS, That's just great.
Just another reason to add to the list of why I'll not be updating to any newer versions of Cyberlink products. Like many others who get shafted by this company I will be looking elsewhere.

Thanks for the reply Michael.
I've checked my order confirmation email and there is no key supplied for PowerDVD Mobile.
I have included a pic of it with other CD keys greyed out.

I have PowerDVD 12 Ultra installed on my Windows 8 Pro 64 PC and everything works as it should apart from the Win 8 Modern UI (Metro) app - PowerDVD for Mobile
When I input the activation code that is supplied with PDVD 12 Ultra it says activation not successful. It's a shame as I've seen the look of it and it looks like it would suit browsing my films on the TV screen a bit easier than the desktop version.
Is Power DVD for mobile Win 8 version included with Ultra?

A patch has been released today and thankfully this issue has been fixed.

Oh, so sorry, El Presidente.
His problem has been solved and we decided to chat about something else.
I take it interaction on these forums is Verboten? Just trying to lighten the mood while we wait for the fabled (due in August) big patch or even any little patch that would solve one of the many bugs.
Who put you in charge anyway?

I'm in the UK and here the Corsair GTs sell for roughly the same price as the Crucial M4s. The GSs are slightly more as they are Toggle NAND.
I also like the colour scheme of the Corsair series as they match my overall setup.

Don't get me wrong I'd like to use PowerDVD as my main player for all files, if it worked as intended it would be great as I like to stream to other rooms and handheld devices. Having just one player would make everything so much simpler.
Ha, yes we do have similar setups. Mine is mainly a gaming PC as you can probably tell from the SLI'd GPUs. I use my drives in the same way as you.
SSDs prices really have fallen since I bought my Force GT. I'm going to upgrade in the next few months and for the same price I paid for the 120GB Force GT I can get a 340GB Force GS Toggle NAND SSD!
I will also swap the 2 GTX 560s for a single GTX 680 with a view to adding a second later if needed (Doubtful as one should be enough)
Everything else is still great and more than enough for what I use this PC for. So glad I got the silver Arrow as it really is a beast of a cooler and so quiet.

You're probably better off not having the 'upgrade'. Version 12 is rife with bugs. some were reported over 5 months ago and still have not been fixed. We were told there would be a patch in August and still nothing has appeared.
Version 12 as a blu-ray player is fine but as a multi format media player it is worse than version 11. I now use it solely for disc playback and use free players like VLC for other formats. Not what I expected to do when upgrading.

|
It would be nice if they fixed the .mkv full screen issue at some point ( http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/22454.page ). It's only been about 5 months since they were informed. I paid for PDVD Ultra and find I'm using VLC to play back mkv files and only using PDVD for blu-rays. I could have stuck with older versions and kept my money.
This is the main problem for me but there are many many other bugs in version 12. I suspect by the time they get round to fixing it they will announce version 13 and forget about fixing 12 and want more cash. Instead of fixing problems they'll be adding more annoying social media addons, like twitter and other bloat, and forget that first and foremost it is a media player.

If you have a sound card with Dolby Digital Live encoding that would output all PC sounds in Dolby Digital.
Just tried it with my X-Fi titanium. (I usually use whatever the disc has (DTS orDolby) via SPDIF option in PDVD.
I started playing a DTS encoded disc, selected system audio in PDVD and set the card to Dolby Digital Live encoding. My amp picked up the audio from SPDIF cable as Dolby.
Hope that helps if you're willing to get a sound card.

PowerDVD 12 is the worst software currently on the market for blu-ray playback in terms of support. It also has problems with cropping .mkv files when played in full screen. Cyberlink have known about the issue for months and have not done a thing. See here http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/22454.page
The last update was over 8 weeks ago. Once they have your money then that's it, they don't care.
I've decided not to upgrade to the next version and will switch to a better player (probably TMT). I have upgraded every time from v6 due to the cost being a little cheaper to upgrade. But will bite the bullet and pay full price for a better experience.
As to the people who say to use AnyDVD HD, that is not really an answer. You shouldn't have to buy another (more expensive) program to get a blu ray player to actually play discs. Imagine if that was the case with stand alone players- oh, you'll have to buy another (more expensive) box to get it to work.

I complained about the tortuous install procedure for PDVD 12 (having to install V8 to v12) a few months ago. After a few days they did send me a full installer for PDVd 12 (161.
Just keep at them and they will send you a (time limited) link for the full installer.
|
|
I have the latest patch (1618 after having to reinstall the whole program again due to Cyberlink sending out the wrong file and turning my program into a trial version)
The problem with video files missing the top bit of the screen STILL remains. God knows how long the next patch will be and even if it will fix the issue.
This is the buggiest product Cyberlink have ever released. It feels like we have paid for the pleasure of beta testing PDVD 12. That's a thing, do they ever do beta testing programmes?
|
|
I had your problem. I opened a ticket with tech support and they sent me a link to download PDVD12 installer. Tokk 2 days after I sent them the info they requested.
|
|
Ridiculous!!
Can't roll back so will have to uninstall then reinstall.
Now here comes the biggest problem due to Cyberlink's unique and frankly retarded install system I have install v8 then v10 upgrade, then v11upgrade and then v12 upgrade.
Why can't Cyberlink give us a full installer when we upgrade? I now have to waste about 2 hours because of their mistake and told the solution is to 'Roll back'
Cyberlink please change your install procedure!!!

The new patch has NOT fixed the problem.
Also the new patch has turned my purchased copy into a trial version. And I'm not the only one. http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/0/23146.page#124340
What a waste of money upgrading from v11 really was. Each patch makes things worse. As a media player it is garbage. VLC is free and handles multiple files much better. It is now only good for blu ray viewing and my OEM v8 performs just as well on my other PC.
|
|
What the hell is going on???
I have also purchased the PDVD 12 upgrade when it was released. I have just applied the update and mine also is now saying it's a trial version.
I also get this pop up when I open PDVD 12. (pic enclosed)
Also the problem with the player cutting off the top of video files has not been fixed. http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/22454.page
I'd really like a refund as this program is garbage in it's current state. I won't bother asking as they'll say no and that it will be fixed. (I'm guessing around July 2015)

What I also did was to reset PDVD setting and let it run the libraries check again. I deleted the PowerDVd folder in Appdata.
On my machine (W7) it is located at C:\Users\Craig\AppData\Local\Cyberlink\PowerDVD12
When you do that you then have a choice when PDVd starts to automatically let PDVD pick up the windows libraries or you can define them yourself.
|
|
I had a similar problem on one of my drives. I had 150 movies in the root directory . As soon as I put them into a folder on the same drive then PDVD could see them.
Not sure if you have the same thing but it took me a couple of days to work it out.
