I have recently updated my PowerDirector8 to PowerDirector10. I have gone in to edit a video and wanted to see about changing the audio, but when I went to the "Edit Audio", a window popped up telling me that "CyberLink PowerDirector could not launch CyberLink WaveEditor. Try re-installing the WaveEditor program."
Well, as I said, I just updated the program and had a CD sent to me, but there is no WaveEditor program listed on the the CD/DVD, only:
1) 1_CyberLink_PowerDirector10_Ultra_Upgrade_1703_124013_VDE120314-04.exe
2) CyberLink_CreativeDesignPack_Travel_CDP120424-01.exe
3) CyberLink_LabelPrint2.5_LPT101130-01.exe
4) CyberLink_PowerDirector10_ContentPackI_PCP110812-04.exe
5) CyberLink_PowerDirector10_ContentPackII_PCP110929-01.exe
Before this I had PowerDirector 8 and I looked on the CD/DVD, but I could not find WaveEditor in it either.
I searched my computer and it did find two different versions of the program. One for Nero, one of my CD burners, but I think it's only a text file, NeroWaveEditor_eng.chm. The other is "CyberLink WaveEditor", but when I double-clicked on it, my computer went on a "flashlight" search and it wasn't found. From what CD/DVD can I install it from?
I have 2 CD/DVD's: PowerDirector 8 (Full Program) and PowerDirector 10 (Upgrade).
Thanks,
Sean

That's what I was trying to explain. I used the same code that was with PowerDirector upgrade because there was no other. There was no text file on the DVD. I tried the code that I had with version 8, but it didn't work either. By the way, I know it's not essential, but I was going to give it a shot. In the past, I've used photoshop/Avery and wanted to to see how this did.

I finished installing the Update to version 10, plus the two extra Content Packs, but I've run into a problem. One of the programs included on the DVD is CyberLink_Labelprint2.5_LPT101130-01. When I open that program, it will start by extracting the files, then ask me the language,... I will get to the final window before the program is supposed to start to install and it asks for my name, the company name and a serial number. When I enter the serial number that's printed on the DVD, with the dashes, I get a message saying wrong serial number. When I reenter the serial number without the dashes, I get the same response telling me that it's the wrong serial number. I've checked it to make sure that it's numbers/letters that are on the DVD and there are no mistakes. Where am I going wrong? There are no extra text files on the DVD with any extra serial numbers. The only files on the DVD are: 1_Cyber_PowerDirector10_Ultra_Upgrade_1703_124013_VDE120314-04 CyberLink_CreativeDesignPack_Travel_CDP120424-01 CyberLink_LabelPrint2.5_LPT101130-01 CyberLink_PowerDirector10_ContentPackI_PCP110812-04 CyberLink_PowerDirector10_ContnetPackII_PCP110929-01 How do I install CyberLink_LabelPrint2.5_LPT101130-01 when it declines all of the information that I was sent? Is this program part of PowerDirector10 Upgrade or just some bait to get you to look further into it and buy another program? Thanks

Forget my question about uninstalling 8. I see it over wrote it.

Okay, that makes more since. I'll give that a try when my video finishes.
I do have another quick question for you: I'm switching computers and have install my original PowerDirector8 and am currently installing the upgrade to 10. When it's finished installing the upgrade, can I remove/uninstall 8 from my computer or does it need to stay in?
Thanks for your help.

The problem with that is you have to remove all of the video files from their original location, which is something I don't want to do.
I opened my video and found which file it looks for first. I then made a new folder and put a copy of all of the video clips in there. I then deleted the first clip it looks for first and it worked, for the first, but for the rest, it just goes to their original location.
So in all, am I to understand that the only way to do this would be to write down where every clip used is, copy them to a new folder, then erase them all from their original location, open the file and redirect the file's clips to that new folder and then copy and paste them back to where they originally were?
There has to be a way to open the file and change the addresses of the clips used.
In Illustrator & InDesign all you have to do is go to the links windows, right-click and change the address.

This might be a "stupid" question, but I have been able to find the answer I need.
I used over twenty videos in a clip that I made. While I was looking for the different videos to use, I would just add them to the Media Files. My problem is that now that I'm finished, all of the video files are in different locations and are not in one folder. The problem is that if any of those videos are deleted, changed, moved..., my file will no longer be able to locate them which ruins the video file that I made.
In the program, is there a way to change the addresses of the videos in the Media Files? I have gathered all of the videos, images, and audio files that were used and made a single folder. Is there a way I can readdress them, so that all of the files used are linked to that one folder?
As far as I can see, there isn't a way to control them, once they've been added to the media files, that's it.
Does anyone have a better answer?
Thanks

I have spent that past week, combining these videos and I have finally mad the DVD set up, but when I go to make the DVD and hit "Burn in 2D", it will pop up the small window and then cut off. I find myself looking at one of the small windows from CyberLink reading:
PDR10.exe has stopped working
Please send us this error report to help us fix the problem and improve the software.
I have sent them the info multiple times, but no response. Can anyone out there help on how I can make this stop and be able to make a DVD?
Thanks for anything
Oh yeah, I have no programs running while doing this. I have gone to my computer and changed it to where nothing starts automatically when my computer starts. I made that change and restarted my computer, so I has gone through and tried that. I am using a:
Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 3
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU
E8400 @ 3.00Ghz
2.40 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM
Right now I have over 200 GB of free space in my hard drive, so it's not from lack of space.

I'm doing the same, but have a problem that you mentioned with the thumbnails that it produces automatically, but have found no answer.
I found out how to change the thumbnail image to another portion of the scene, but there is no control over what the thumbnail is made from. It only takes a small frame image from the center of the video display. You cannot move it. You can only change the time the thumbnail is chosen. Because of this, I cannot get a decent thumbnail because nothing small enough is ever in the center of the video.
Is there a way to import a thumbnail image for that chapter or to go in and move the crop frame to the position where you would like to capture the image of the scene for the thumbnail?
I have a chapter and the thumbnail that was automatically created shows have of one face and another half of another face. I want to go in and make it at least the image of one full face, or create an image to use as a thumbnail and put it in instead.
Nothing that is the "thumbnail size" is ever centered in the video.
Thanks

I wanted to find out if there was any option to add Closed Caption to a video. Does CyberLink offer anything link that? I wanted to see if there was an automatic option for a video or if I had to go in and watch/type it as it went along. I also understand that if an automatic process was offered, it would not always be 100% correct, so if it is an option, how could you go in and edit what was made?
Now, if it is not offered, does anyone now of a side program that did?
Thanks,
Sean

At the start of a video, I have gone to the Power Tools -> Video Crop and at the start of the clip, I have spun the frame to the angle I want it and cropped the video so it fit in frame with no blank spaces. The problem I have is having it stay like that the whole clip. As it plays, it spins and resizes back to its original crop position at the end.
Is there a way to crop and set the frame at the start and then have it stay like that till the end, or do I have to go to the end and try to size and position the frame the best I can?
Also, is there a way to stop the frame from "jumping" to the frames edges? I don't want the corner of the crop frame on the edge, but just before it gets to the edge. Every time I try to move the frame of the video near the side and the corner is almost there, it "jumps" to the edge like a magnate. The other problem I have with that is that one corner might be close to the edge and as I try to resize the frame to the edge or move it to the edge, the other corner will jump over the frame's edge as the corner of the frame locks to the edge. This might sound foolish, but I'm trying to control the cropping size/position, so the quality of the video stays "nice" or sharp. The reason I ask is because I work with Adobe InDesign, and it has options for certain things and one option is to have this on or off. Just wondering.
Thanks for the help,
Sean

Yes, I did have the videos saved correctly and everything else was correct, but when I went and saved them as a wmv, they saved in formats that were not set to play 16:9 videos, so when I watched them on my screen, I didn't really notice the blacks on the sides. When I saved them to the internet and had them play in a specific player that was set to play 16:9 videos, ...
Thank you very much. Now I know that when I go to save a video, in any format, I need to pay attention to the video size being created and the video size of what I have.
Thanks A Lot.

Not YouTube, these videos are over 20 minutes long and we have an account with Brightcove. They have numorous video players. The one that I am using is the Widescreen with Vertical Video List.
If you'd like to see more information on the player, you can go to: http://support.brightcove.com/en/docs/player-templates
The main point is that if I save a file as a wmv, it plays fine, but uploads with flaws. If I save it as a H.264 and upload it, it plays fine and the ratio stays perfect. The only backfire is that the quality of the video goes down.
Brightcove recommends uploading H.264 or flash files, but the problem with that is the quality of the video goes down. When I upload a wmv file, Brightcove automatically converts the video to H.264, but the quality stays high.
Is there a way to "lock/flatten" the video's ratio? I just don't understand what causes the video to get streached out like that and not stay the same as the original videos. I have used wmv videos before and have not had this problem.
I do crop and spin one video -25 degrees. I then save it as a wmv video. I will then take the second video that is not resized, cropped or moved and combine the two videos. They are both in seperate tracks. Last, I do have a blank image to fill the background.
I honestly don't know if that's needed or not with PowerDirector10, but it seemed to be needed when using PowerDirector 8. The size of the background image is 16:9. Attached are PowerDirector 10 images of what I'm trying to explain, if it's confusing.
1. Background.jpeg - Blank background image that fills the main track.
2. Spin-Crop.jpg - Shows how the one video that is edited is twisted around and cropped.
3. Time-Clips.jpg - Shows how the final video is produced by timing the two different video with the audio.
When the 3rd part of this is done, I save the video as a mwv. I've tried saving it in different versions, but they all end up the same when uploaded. But, if I go back and save this same file as an H.264 and upload it. It plays fine.
note: When I do this and resave, I make sure thatthe main setting of the file is set at 16:9. Edit -> Aspect Ration -> 16:9
--- By the way --- As you may notice with the images that I attached, I finally went ahead and got the upgrade to version 10. I was upset and was hoping it would help, but guess what, my one problem is still occuring. The program will freexe in the middle of working on a video and I have to shut the program down and restar it. I got some instructions from CyberLink that I am going to do and hope it fixes the problem.
Thanks for your help,

Thanks, but that's what I can't figure out. The original videos that we shot are each 16:9 and the new file that I created is also set 16:9. I made sure that everything was set like that, but I'm still getting that wierd video when it's uploaded.
Any other ideas?

I made a video with clips from two other videos. Both of the originals are 16:9 and the new format file is set at 16:9. When I placed them in, I enlarged them to fill the screen, but that's it, nothing else. Did I miss something that needs to be done?
The reason I ask is because I saved the final video as a .wmv and the video played perfect, on my screen. But, when uploaded the video to the internet, it played with a black bar on the top and bottom of the player and the actual video was streatched out to fit the width of the player in the middle.
Is this because I used the two different videos and didn't "flatten" them? How can I fix this and have the video upload like it plays on my screen and fill the player?
I know I wrote my other question yesterday, but I was wrong and confused. I wanted to erase it because it, itself, is confusing, but I don't have that option, even though there's no response to it. I wish there was.
Anyway, I'm sorry about the other question and thanks for any help I can get.

I have made a few videos, uploaded them into my account, but when played in one of the players (yes, correct player), they end up playeing with a black bar on top and bottom and the video is streatched out to fit the width. Why does this happen and why aren't they saving as full 16:9 videos?
I have the 16:9 option selected and the videos are being saved as H264 videos. Here is what I was told:
I see that all the renditions are squished top to bottom. But the source file, when played in VLC appears very slightly squished from side to side.
What can I do in the program to set it to save all videos 16:9 and "solid" or "flattened"?
I attached an image of the size settings and how they're saved.

I have looked in the past questions, watched a few YouTube videos and am still lost.
I have two videos, one of which is in the PiP section. They are both timed correctly, but they come from different angles. One is of a person talking right into the camera and the other shows what she is doing. The opening view is of a person talking to the camera, full screen. It's the PiP. After two minutes, I want the PiP to downsize and move into the upper right hand corner. While this is happening, the main video, which is behind the PiP, will come into site and start to show. For the rest of the video, that PiP will stay in the corner while you can watch the second view.
Is there an "easy" way to do this or I do I just need to spend some time watching YouTube videos to try and figure it out?
Thanks for your haelp!

This continues to happen and I don't know why, but I will be in the middle of editing a video and PowerDirector will freeze for about 10secs and then cut off. Sometimes, I have to go into Task Manager and shut the program completely off before I can restart it. 99% of the time, it will have all of my editing saved, except for the last 2-3 minutes, so it's not that big of a deal except it's a big pain.
Today, I was working on a video and all of a sudden I got an error message from my computer. I hit OK and PowerDirector cut off. Right after it shut down, I got a second error message.
Can someone look at these and try and fill me in on why this is always happening and if there's anything I can do to prevent it from happening? It happens, at least, once a day, when I'm working on videos.
I attached an image of the two error messages to show what I was looking at. For some reason I decided to copy my screen on the first one and got the second. Now, I can actually show what I'm looking at; although, these error messages don't really ever show. Most of the time, it will just freeze and then cut off.
Thanks for any help or info ya'll can give me,
Sean

I have recently been editing videos, but when they are finished and saved, I have a problem with the picture quality. The audio plays fine and smooth, but the video is only images and plays in fragments of the actual video, no smooth video. You will see a frame of a scene, but there is no motion and the audio continues normally. Then, after a few seconds, the frame will change to a later scene and the audio continues normally.
What is causing this and how can I prevent this from continuing to happen?
They are being saved as .m2ts videos. When I go and save the video as a .wmv, it plays fine, but the picture quality is not as good.
One other thing, when I save the .m2ts and go back to CyberLink, I will view the video that it has to show in the Produce section of the program and it plays perfect. What's causing this video to keep saving like this?
Any help would be some help.
Thanks,
Sean
