How can you change the location address of the videos used in your final video?

This might be a "stupid" question, but I have been able to find the answer I need.

I used over twenty videos in a clip that I made. While I was looking for the different videos to use, I would just add them to the Media Files. My problem is that now that I'm finished, all of the video files are in different locations and are not in one folder. The problem is that if any of those videos are deleted, changed, moved..., my file will no longer be able to locate them which ruins the video file that I made.

In the program, is there a way to change the addresses of the videos in the Media Files? I have gathered all of the videos, images, and audio files that were used and made a single folder. Is there a way I can readdress them, so that all of the files used are linked to that one folder?

As far as I can see, there isn't a way to control them, once they've been added to the media files, that's it.

Does anyone have a better answer?

Thanks

Hi!
First, there are no "stupid questions" although there might be stupid answers! ;

I had the same problem and the only way I could solve the problem was:
-1- if the clip used is the complete video rather than an extract, I would first import the video, extract the clip and store the resulting file in a specific folder.
-2- if the whole video is to be used I copy it in the specific folder mentioned above.

Then all your useful videos are in that specific folder and forget about the source videos. The benefit of this approach is that if you want later on to "improve" your work, everything is available. This is valid for the pictures as well as the sounds. The drawback is that you need more disk space.

It can be done even at the end of a project. Then you import in PD all the files from the folder and replace the "black" ones with the good ones.

Albert Switched to PD10 now, just before PD11 was announced! Loser forever!

I go with COPY everything to a working folder.

Not for the first time have I clicked "Remove from library and disk" in error ;) only to find that was not a wise thing to do.

When relocate files that are part of a project DP
When you open the project PD will ask to search it, just give the path of the new location. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

The problem with that is you have to remove all of the video files from their original location, which is something I don't want to do.

I opened my video and found which file it looks for first. I then made a new folder and put a copy of all of the video clips in there. I then deleted the first clip it looks for first and it worked, for the first, but for the rest, it just goes to their original location.

So in all, am I to understand that the only way to do this would be to write down where every clip used is, copy them to a new folder, then erase them all from their original location, open the file and redirect the file's clips to that new folder and then copy and paste them back to where they originally were?

There has to be a way to open the file and change the addresses of the clips used.

In Illustrator & InDesign all you have to do is go to the links windows, right-click and change the address. -

If I understand correctly, you want to create another folder with only the files in your project, normal is to do this first, before iuniciar your project.
With project ready, make a source folder a copy and rename it.
PD10/11 have the option, File /Export / Pack Project Materials, everything in this timeline will be saved in a folder, maybe it's good for you. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

Okay, that makes more since. I'll give that a try when my video finishes.

I do have another quick question for you: I'm switching computers and have install my original PowerDirector8 and am currently installing the upgrade to 10. When it's finished installing the upgrade, can I remove/uninstall 8 from my computer or does it need to stay in?

Thanks for your help. -
