Quote That's good information, Alan. We may be getting closer.

According to this comparison chart, only the Live & Ultra versions of PowerDVD support HEVC (H.265) playback. So, if your version is "Pro" or "Standard", that would explain what's happening.

If that's the case, rendering using AVC H.264 would overcome it.

If it's not the case, we'll need to keep digging.

VLC Player has its own built in codecs, which is why it happily played your produced file.

PIX

Pix,
I will try AVC H.264 and will make a short video in PD15 my usual way and see what the results are.
Post tomorrow, Thanks
Alan

PIX,
My apologizes for not getting back woth you sooner, my problem was usuing H.265 instead of H.264. I can't believe I overlooked that as I have been doing videos for past 10 plus years. Thank you for bringing to light about Cybelink in comparison of Power DVD15 andPower DVD17 I will be upgrading soon as in next few days.
Thanks again,
Alan

Quote Alan,

Just to clarify, are you producing a video in CDR6 then using that in PowerDVD? The video plays correctly in VLC player, yes?

The range of video formats supported in PowerDVD17 is very extensive - https://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=19880&prodId=1&prodVerId=1274&CategoryId=-1&keyword=supported%20file%20format so I'm surprised there's a problem.

To resolve the issue, we need to know exactly what steps you've taken, including the format & profile you selected to produce the video.

PIX

PIX,

For the past year I ve been editing my videos in PD15 and using CD5 for color enhancement.

I upgraded to CD6 and that’s when things seemed to go from bad to worse so to speak. When I produce

a video in PD15 or CD6 I use H.265 HEVC MP4 and the output has been fantastic and for some reason

CD6 went wacky on me or so I thought however my default video player PDVD15 is not playing them but

VLC Media Player does SO CD6 is working as the video look fine. I guess my real issue is why PDVD15 will

Not play my videos from CD6. Now I’m confused and back to square one.

Thanks Alan

Quote Hello Alan,

That's a strange thing indeed, since CDR is incapable of producing an auio-only file.

Where do you see the musical note, in lieu of images? In the thumbnail? withing CDR6? Could you please post a screenshot showing the problem?

PIX

Here is an unusual update to this post my default DVD player is Cyberlink Power DVD15 but no images. However if I use VLC Media Player the video plays, so now the quandry changes hand. I have to wonder if Power DVD has issues but then again it does play videos from past few weeks ok. Thanks, Alan
try to get a screen shot shortly
My CD6 for some reason has stopped showing images after production, it now shows a musical note.
any ideas,
thanks Alan
Quote I gather that you didn't save the downloaded .exe files somewhere safe?

As always suggested, look in you trash or junk e-mail folders. The response may be there, If not, go to where you asked the question and see if they did reply and it somehow didn't get to you.

I believe that there is a warnng that downloads file links are good for only a limited time (standard in the industry) although there are some that don't have that policy.

Thank tou for the response, I have saved the diffeent exe files over the years and have never needed them, that being said I did find the exacutable files for for PD15. I have 9 1 terabyte WD drives which I had copied PD 15 over two and it runs I will check it out over next few days.

Still need Color Director 6 and PowerDVD 15.

Update later and hope Cyberlink is still in business...lol
Alan
Is Cyberlink still in business ?

I had a major hard drive failure and ended up getting a new Hard drive with Windows 10, had been using Windows 7.

This was my support ticket to Cyberlink:

I suffered a hard drive failure that resulted in a loss of four Cyber link programs. Besides PD15 Ultimate there was Color Director 5 Color Director 6 along with
PowerDVD 15 Ultra
What is the best way to go about my getting my programs back can redownlaod them.
Thank you,
Alan

I do Videography and have had Power Director 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, and 15 a faithful customer and I am getting no response from Cyberlink.

Any Ideas ?

Thanks, Alan
Thanks everyone, that worked and it sure is going to make it easier and faster for me.

Alan
I have had PD's 8,10, 11, 12 and now 13....love them all, well finally found something I haven't seen or tried. When

editing a video and I split and sometimes delete part of the recent split and may cut the other part and enter in the video

down the line. Can you cut a piece of video and save it for future use? Maybe later in that session or several days later.

Hope that made since...

Thanks, Alan
I'm embarrassed,it was the Aspect ratio...
as I said I love this program, keep learning new things every day.
Oh well back to the rich video question.....

thanks agrafton
OK, I guess my question on Rich Video was a tuff one, here comes, I hope, and easier one.
I downloaded some Motion Objects, titles, pips and others. What is the secret to getting them to show up all the time? I had an open project when I downloaded these and they all showed up and I used some. I saved my project with the new features and everything is fine.
OK, I start a new project and none of the downloads show up on a new project, if I open the earlier project all the downloads are there. I did notice one thing about the eg; motion objects
Some said motion objects under the display pic and some said downloaded under the display pic and the ones saying downloaded are the ones that didn't show up, the other where default ones.
As I said PD8 has been good to me, almost no problems just bus like what I described.
Hope this Question made since?

Thanks agrafton
Been running PD8 for past month or so no problems, actually works quite well. A few days ago I got a dialog box before startup that Rich Video is not installed on your system click [OK] to install RichVideo or [Cancel] to quit Cyberlink PowerDirector.

I click [OK] and it starts.....

If I click cancel it starts too.......

any ideas?

thanks

agrafton
Thanks a lot guys, you have given me plenty of info to work with.

agrafton
momentarily confused..... What you need to do is Produce each part,.... (is pds?)

using a different file name, PD8 only has one choice

is there another choice
then bring them back to create one complete file.

example please, I'm old

agrafton
I did 8 project files made up of about 6 t0 8 clips a piece, I saved them in 6 differnt project files. Now I'm ready to splice them all together but PD8 willonly open one at a time, when I open a second one and tell it to merge it does nothing but open the next fiie and the first one is gone. How do you merge all project files (pds) together so I can make a DVD?

thank you agrafton
Thank you for the responces,I am shooting at "1280X720 30fps and see how PD handles that. " Will check out the treads and get back, have to go to work.....:o)

agrafton

Newuser here of PD8, love the program so far...................) I am a ble to use all the features and options with minimal problems with most resolved.
When I get to the make a disc option there is only one option for output.
I'm using a Rebel T1i camers that shoots knock you socks of video and that format is apples mov. I have imported straight to PD8 and went to output with results that look like paint by numbers video, big pixels, so I convert to ( HD AVI Video [ *avi ] ) and the results are much better but still not close to the original. My question is what is the correct conversion or sequences of editing to get the near same quality as the original, the knock your socks of video, to a disc for playback on TV through a dvd player?

thanks, agrafton
