Can you given an example? dates of video-files do not change when I input them!?

Can you explain a bit what it is you want to do. It comes to me that once you have created/saved the project file with all information to produce, that a "simple click" to get this production and save the output file, would be easier than come back and produce the output file at later moment. You would need to make sure that all your source files are still in the same place etc. etc.
If it is a Batch production you are after, e.g. to produce various types of output from the same projects, I find the Batch Produce in the file menu very handy.
You can add a number of project files and set the output parameters and get the production going. I use it to first create a DVD and later a Blu-ray from the same projects. There is a very good Youtube tutorial about this function.
What is a bit un-handy with this batch process is, that 1) it does not remember that I am a PAL user, and starts with NTSC every time first time; 2) once added a number of projects it is not possible to set the output parameters in one go, nor the output file folder.
The trick is to add 1 project and set the output parameters. Any subsequent added project file will have the same output parameters as the first O=(or as the one above I should say).
So Batch production, but again, it depends on what you are looking for.

Depends on what you want to use it for. I dont have experience with DV-AVI. When you want to burn a DVD select DVD MPEG2. I use that often and works well. MKV is usually also good quality.
Maybe do some tests with a short video!

720x480 is available, when the video format is set to NTSC (and sometimes in PAL)
for
- DV-AVI
- DVD HQ (indeed not in PAL)
- AVC - M2TS
- AVC -MKV
- HEVC - M2TS
- HEVC - MKV

Nothing to add to the (chapter) marker discussion. By design they do not move with or link to the clip-frame, as it seems.
Can you elaborate a bit on these 12-14Gb files. That is a lot of bytes for the relatively low quality VHS tapes. Unless the digitalisation is to HD quality, less bytes would also work. I would assume that a regular DVD with 2 hours of movie would still have higher (adequate) quality than a VHS tape movie of 2 hours?
And indeed my feeling is that cutting movies one to one to the target DVDs would make the processing easier.

The screenshot shows that the video/audio on track 1 may have been unlinked. When selecting these, PD16 is not able to sync all instances by audio, because it sees the video as a separate instance without .... audio.
You should either link the video and audio on track 1 again or deselect the video track. In both cases the Sync by Audio appears and should work. I would assume that re-linking is your best option here because you don't want the video to be left out?!

I recently upgraded to PD 16 from PD 15 and when I did, I no longer have my custom titles. Can someone tell me where these are stored so I can retrieve them and add them to the new PD 16?
look in:
..users\(your-id)\documents\cyberlink\Powerdirector\15.0\My Titles
you should see one or more folders with in each the files that belong to a customed title.
But also look at your settings, or maybe even the way yoiu have updated, installed PD 16, because when I open version 16 it also displays the titles from version 15, without any extra efforts.
also note that in each 15 and 16 the title folders start new with 000, if you for the "trick" to copy the 15 titles into the 16.0 directory they may overwrite the titles already in there. I think assigning a new (sequence) number should do the trick

If you flag a point on the timeline with a marker, it should stick to that point, not to the time in the timeline, the point was. Irrispective the cause, trimming or deleting or inserting. So this does not look like a new feature to me, but a bug that may be resolved even when the 17 wishlist is closed.

Hi,
On a quick test of 4 sample ProRes files running PDR16 Ultimate v.2127, 3 imported to the media library and timeline, one did not. The attached image shows the media info for all 4, with the failed import highlighted in yellow.
It would be worth contacting Technical Support to clarify if there are any specific criteria that operate for ProRes import.
Cheers

It strikes me that the yellow marked file has a resolution of 4 480 x 1 980. (2.35:1) might this be the problem?

No solution but an observation:
I have an I7 7700HQ with HD 630. PD 16 works fine for me. Comparing your
DxDiag file with mine, I see that drivers and other versions (windows) are the
same. The HD and the UHD are the same so Intel tells us, the UHD but
"clocked slightly higher". One would assume that the thing would work
for you.
I guess that you have tried to run with the acceleration switch off too?
I don’t have experiences with PD making BR disks. I use DVD architect to
create DVDs and Blu-ray, which gives me a bit more flexibility. If you search
for the error code you mention, it appears that the same code was reported for
PD11. Maybe look at the suggestions made, like update the firmware of your burner
and some work arounds.

I fully agree.
You have my vote!

An option to manually select the hardware is of course really nice, specially for the techies. But I assume that most users just want to focus on the Video Editing without having to worry about the settings too much. It should simply work as fast as the available hardware allows it to.
I would think that the Cyberlink developers, who are capable of offering such fine Video Editing functionality, should see this as a challange and get the Cyberlink software to utilise the available hardware as optimal as possible. "Cyberlink will get the most out of your hardware" can be the next slogan.
A statement that Cyberlink software does not support any fancy hardware will also stop the discussion of course.

I did some tests. It keeps working for me. Hard to tell what went wrong. Alternative would be to use a free audio editor like Audacity; you may have to unlink video and audio depending on the format used. Good luck!

Sound compression I understood that : There are in waveEditor various ways to compress the audio amongst which VST plugins, if you have thme or can find them. I was only wondering what you were using when your computer stalled.
|
|
Hmmm. Interesting to know why you would want to compress (and what kind of compression you use). Hard to say from a distance why your computer gives up (also from very close by it is often hard: If you are looking for a lower quality, compressed audio track, maybe this can also ben done by using appropriate output parameters at produce time?
|
|
Try to either use the WaveEditor (comes with PD), or AudioDirector (separate buy or part of a suite). Select the clip in the time-line and click on edit Audio in the Bar just above the time-line.
|
|
Admittedly, it is not easy and it will take some trying but the NewBlue titler will allow you to place titles and title background shapes anywhere on the screen and do some animations

Is it possible to quickly Balance the Audio output from various [merged] clips based on ONE timeline clips levels, to make the output audio levels about the same - is there a quick method to choose a clip with the correct levels and get other clips to match volumes?
Thank you, I posed the question to support a week ago and got no response, I'm hoping a kind soul here can help out

Thanks for this patch. I have installed it just now. I was waiting to see the Title fade in / fade out being resolved. The images used in titles do indeed now correctly fade in. However when opening and using the titles made with the previous PD15 patch version (2820 I believe) the picture/images appear to be gone.
BTW titles made with older versions in PD14 and PD13 are working fine.
|
|
PLEASE NOTE that after installation of the 2805 patch the Color Enhancement (in Fix/Enhance) does not work anymore but gives a message that this feature is not available in this version. (I have PD 15 ultimate so that should not be the issue). The advise is to upgrade.
I have re-ran the latest final patch 2509, and then the color enhancement does now work again.
I have windows 10 Creator (if that makes a difference)

For reference, I just tagged five faces and it took 1:45 not counting the time I was clicking - that's timing from the point where I click the person's name to the point the tag is saved and I'm allowed to click another name. That's an average of about 21 seconds to apply one face tag to one photo for one person. I feel like that's a lot.
I haven't timed one of the operations where I uncheck one face out of a group of faces and try to apply that.
Thanks for this timing. The remark: "it takes so long" otherwise is often more a feeling or an impression. Unchecking faces before tagging takes a bit longer with me than accepting all in one go. It takes me a little less overall with an average of about 19 seconds. Still fairly long though.
I have stopped at 15K photos and about 70 people as the update time is rapidly increeasing.
Still hope that I either do something wrong, or that there is a trick or setting that helps making the face tagging and retrieval really useful. Because it is not.
