Yes, I realise that 3GB RAM is a bit low and sometimes I see the RAM being used can go into the 70, 80 and even 90% range. I have priced another 4GB stick of RAM about $50 Aussie which would take it up to 7GB total. How would that be?
Do you think that the 3GB is affecting PD10 operation though?
I don't think I have ever seen the rendering graph you mention though.
Back to my problem, I tried using DivX Converter which I found on my computer but could not load these DivX files onto it! Crikey!
So I did a search for free video converters and downloaded Any Video Converter (AVC) and converted one file to WMV and loaded that onto PD10 and it worked ok. The audio was playing ok as well but after stopping and starting the audio seemed to go awol.
At some stage it told me that the perspective of the video was 4:3 so will have to look at that and see what can be done to make it 16:9 at the start. But I assume that would be set in the Debut software.
re "additions to Quicktime and DivX, i've installed FFDSHOW codecs. " Is that important for me?

I just made several screen capture video recordings using DEBUT Screen Capture Video by NCH Software.
They were saved in .AVI but when I tried to load them into PD10 they would not open. There was a long message on the screen saying a lot of stuff why not but did not mention .AVI.
In the file they are saved in they have the DIVX logo all over them.
PD10 says it will play .AVI so they should be ok to load.
However, if I want to change them to another type can someone please advise which type and is there a free converter around that I can download and use please?

The movie is in the Timeline with all the 22 chapters in the "EDIT" section.
Next in the process is "Produce" to make a movie in let's say H.264.
The next in line is "Create Disc" where I can easily burn a disc from the "Edit" section. I have done it several times. It is so easy to do.
But this form in the "Edit" section is so prone to easily being altered or changed in some way that I wanted to make a movie in the "Produce" section so that it can't be messed with. But it doesn't work as the resulting file has NO Chapters in it. It seems to me to defy all logic but hey, who am I to determine what is logic or not with Cyberlink!

In PD10 I made a 60 min video on the Timeline with 2 lots of 22 chapters and burnt a navigable DVD from it taking around 25 mins.
It was perfect, but, as the Timeline can be changed or altered I wanted to make a movie from it in either H.264 or MPEG4 so that it can't be changed so I can burn it again and again as required.
Making this movie took about 5 hours of rendering and at the end of it there are no chapters whatsoever! Just the movie as if it had left out all the chapters so any disc burnt from it will not be navigable! ie a complete waste of time (5 hrs)!
Can someone please explain where I am going wrong?

I want to make a YouTube video using pics of Excel charts etc. so there is no moving video.
I will be doing audio to explain these charts but also want to highlight my mouse cursor to give even more impact and clarity.
Many others already do this on YT so it must be quite easy.
However, I searched the net but can find no explanation so I have come here for help.

I know how to upload the video in 640x360 or any other quality to my own FB page .
I know how to upload the original Full HD 1080x1920 video to the Club's FB page.
But how can I make a video suitable for uploading to this Athletics Club's FB page please?

Carl, Thanks for that but all the things you suggested I had already checked.
Anyway, I just decided to move the little test audio clip up from the 'microphone' track into another audio track where the volume was automatically restored!!! I then moved it up into the top audio track and it was good there too and also with the ability to alter the volume line inside the clip. This you could not do in the microphone track.
Any ideas what is going on there?

I have a very important video to upload to my new YouTube Channel and want to add audio in the timeline to some of the footage.
So, being unable to initially record sufficient volume using my Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 headset I consulted a couple of YouTube tutorials but of course they were of no use to me. I should say here that years ago I was able to record voice over with no problem at all on one of the versions I had!! Not now.
So first the audio was too low but now there is none whatsoever. Every time I pressed the 'Record' button it sent the volume control down to zero numerous times!
But further jiggering around and recording a test audio showed there now appears to be a waveline there on the clip but no sound whatsoever. There is also a line underneath the waveline with little circles at the beginning and end of the clip but it cannot be moved. However, when I double click on that clip it opens up the 'Trim Audio' box and there is plenty of sound in there! Ha! Crikey! I have already spent about 2 hrs on just this audio problem and now the software is playing games with me! So why can't I hear it in the Timeline? It is NOT muted!

I hardly make any videos at all mainly because it is such a pain. But I have a couple to make now so will try to see what you are talking about regarding chapters.
However, the title is still at a slight angle but easy to see with the human eye.
Still no explanations how that is a Cyberlink created problem?

When I burned the disc it still shows the title on the skew on the first menu page.
The Menu Chapter page is the one with the Ferris Wheel and the ticket which has only two places for Chapters.

Ok, so I have the movie made in the Timeline and I want to burn it to disc without the intermediate "Produce" being used to create a movie file.
So in "Create Disc" I name the title and change the text and size of the text and note that while fiddling around and going from 1 Chapter to the next that the 5 words in the Title box move so that the Rh side is a few millimetres further from the top of the screen than the rest. They do this just before it moves to the next title page with the other chapter(s) on it.They are still in a straight line from left to right but slope down from left to right inside the box. The box is still 'square' and not angled.
Maybe it will not actually do that when the movie is burned to disc but it doesn't look right at all.
The other thing I noticed is that the movie comprises 3 Chapters so I get only 1 and 2 on the first page so have to make a second page for the 3rd Chapter. Is this normal - you can only get two Chapters per page in the Title page? If so it seems inordinately inadequate. Maybe they have improved on that in later editions.
Another thing I noticed is that on pg 2 Chapter 3 of the Title page there is background music that has bad distortion/interference.
I was then puzzled as to why there is no background music (With or without interference) on the front Title page.

Something else that may have been improved in later editions is the extremely annoying situation in making new titles where you can change the text font and size and alignment and then click on the style of colour and you get the style of colour but lose all the other things you changed and have to start again. How hard it must have been to make it unable to do that? Ha! It takes twice as long as it should to make a new title! Has that been fixed in the later versions?
And I'd love for this message to be able to be copied in case the message does not get "submitted" for whatever reason so you don't have to start again from scratch.

I wanted to use a music track from YouTube so used Free YouTube Downloader.
But when I went to import the MP3 track to the Library as soon as I clicked on the track the cursor goes to hourlass forever so will not import.
Then I tried another track from YT, and although it imported into the Library, when I put it in a music track on PD10 project it had no sound/music on it at all.
With the first one I thought I would outwith the system and tried having both windows open and clicking and dragging the file to PD10 project. It showed a small window saying "importing blah blah" and a progress bar underneath showed nothing happening! Ha! It jammed the whole computer so I had to shut it down and start again. It was VERY slow starting but nothing was lost (I think).
However, both tracks play on Nero ok so the sound IS there in those files.
Any ideas please?

OK, FOUND THE PROBLEM AS THERE WAS A VERY VERY SMALL FADE TRANSITION HIDDEN IN THERE BETWEEN THE TWO PICS AND WHEN I REMOVED IT I WAS ABLE TO PUT A CROSS FADE IN PLACE.

Hi again.
I have just made a small video of a sports activity and sandwiched between two clips are three still photograps.
All transitions are Fades and those between clips and photos and photos and photos are Cross Fades - all exept one!
I have tried and tried and tried to make it a Cross Fade but cannot! Ha!
It is the 2nd pic to 3rd pic I cannot make a Cross Fade.
Any ideas please?

Found it in the Autosaved file in 'C' drive, PowerDirector/10/autosave.
There were 4 of them so I went through each one and merged it with what was left before so now just have to add the Chapters and then follow your earlier instructions.
