The Settings are set to 50fps
The video is recorded at 50fps
The "Time" box under the monitor screen shows seconds broken down into 50ths of a second.
ie it goes from 00 to 49 and then starts at 00 again for the next second.

When I click the "Next Frame" button/arrow to advance the video by one frame the "Time" box shows movement of 1/50th of a second but nothing happens on the screen. Only when I click the button again a second time does it show any movement on the screen ie it is only moving every 1/25th of a second.

If all the settings and recording is at 1/50th of a second then why does the screen/"Next Frame" button advance the video only 1/25th of a second?
Surely it should advance the screen every time the "Next Frame" button is activated. Likewise for the "Previous Frame" button but in reverse.
In Create Disc the Title of the DVD is on the screen but when burnt is not on the DVD.

The original DVD was 3 1/2 mins long and when I created a disc the Title and Play button, complete with light pink cherry, was on the DVD where it should be albeit in white text. There was no apparent facility to change the colour of thhis Title.
Then I added more clips and exrended the DVD to 12 mins but when I burned the disc the Title was not on it.
So I went back to the PC and checked that the Title was still there and it was.

What is going on here please because I cannot find any solution to this madness!

Also, along the length of the timeline I added titles at different places to explain the different clips but when the disc was burnt several of the last titles were not anywhere near the right place. I checked the Timeline and sure enough those same titles were way off.
Can anyone explain that madness please?

Thanks.

PS. It would also help to have the titles on a track closer to the actual video track so you don't have to continuously scroll up and down to find where you are in trying to align both.
I transferred all my Video files from the old Vista PC to my new W10 PC and have made a compilation of several videos and stills from my son's sporting activities for his birthday on Sunday.
In order to identify each clip/still I would like to have a title to explain the clip and when it was taken but that means making many new tiltles which is time consuming.
Some of those videos already had titles made for the Timeline.
Is there an easy way to copy all the existing titles from the earlier version of PD9 on the old PC and transfer them to the new PC please?
I didn't say there was anything stopping me from using these very thick transitions - I wanted to know why Cyberlink has not managed to produce the thin ones like we see in movies or the ones the opposition uses.
Sorry guys, I see I forgot to say that PD14 was downloaded to my new Windows 10 PC.
Thanks guys.

My old PC was running Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium.
I had on it Microsoft Home and Student 2007.
On my old PC I had PD10.

On my new PC I have Windows 10 and to have Word I installed Microsoft Home and Student 2007.
On mynew PC I have PD14.

Are you saying I have to install PD10 on my new PC to get Lucida Calligraphy font?

If so, how do I do that please?

I just checked Word in Office Home and Student 2007 on my new PC and Lucida Calligraphy is not there!

But on my old PC, Lucida Calligraphy is there in Word in Office Home and Student 2007.

Surely you are not saying that Lucida Calligraphy is only on my old PC because I have PD10 on it too?

Now I am very confused.

Many years ago I asked on here why cannot Cyberlink include paper-thin Flipping Transistions.

I see that in PD14 they are still thick like a block of concete flying through the air.

The competition do the thin version - why not Cyberlink?

Unless of course PD15 has paper-thin Transitions like what was used in the Superman movie.
I just splashed out on PD 14 after having had PD10 for a few years.

However, when I went to make a title to add to the timeline I was astonished to find that the Lucida Calligraphy font was not there.

Assuming I haven't made a mistake then can someone please explain why this rather lovely font has been axed?

I mean, there are lots and lots of very similar but rather plain fonts but I have always used Lucida Calligraphy for my titles.

Maybe there is a way to import Lucida Calligraphy into PD14 but surely a better solution would be to leave it alone in the first place.
Thanks Dafydd, I'll try that and then look to do all the other 95 or so .pds files I have to copy onto the new PC.

Regards,

Phil.
Can't copy and paste here?

Mod edited: There was a large space between these two parts - looks like a posting error. Select "Edit" and delete one maybe.

I just purchased a new PC with Windows 10 installed and then purchased PowerDirector 14.

My old PC was running Vista and PowerDirector 10.

I needed to copy all my files to an external Toshiba SSD and then copy them again onto my new PC's HDD which all went ok.

But when I went to open the .pds files (ie video with all the clips/titles/transformations etc) they all appeared as Word documents with only a few kbs each. However, some do open in PD14 properly although some have hiccups opening and also open as a long list of data in Word. I have not had enough time to investigate every one of them yet. It also looks like some of the .pds files have not been copied. Is this a known problem?
If so, is there a fix or do I need to go back and check each one that is missing and attempt to copy it again and try to paste it/them into the respective folder(s)?

Thanks,

Phil.
Now the 70% off deal for PD14 has been extended to Sep 12, a further 6 days.
Quote: Same as always. Full price at the beginning. Discounts gets better every few months toward the end of the year.

And what is full price likely to be?
Deals are being offered on PD14 up until Sep 6th do it looks like PD15 will be arriving soon.
I wonder what price?
However, I just used Nero StartSmart Essentials and copied the next disc and then immediately burnt a new DVD very quickly. All is ok but I could't find a file anywhere that I thought I had asked to be saved.
never mind - I got the second disc ok.
tomasc, I tried copying using PD10 but it says it does not recognise the content of the disc.
I have an old DVD of my son's 1st birthday taken on tape about 9 1/2 years ago. It has a title and plays straight away after loading.

I copied it using Nero Express but it came out as a .nrg file and PD10 did not recognize .nrg.

Then the fun began. How to convert it to a format that PD10 will use so that I can burn another DVD?

Well I tried Wondershare but they want money for anything more than 5 mins long.

Then I tried something else and something else and eventually got a file, which, when loaded onto PD10 reads "VTS_01_01.VOB". This works and I burnt a DVD from it but I'm not entirely sure how I got that VTS.VOB file.

Is there any other better way anyone can suggest please as I have a couple more DVDs of the same era I would like to copy?

Thanks,

Phil
Shooting video in Cinestyle on my 70D requires colour to be graded on the footage in post production.

Cinestyle have advised me that, "..Don'tcha luvvit when a website doesn't allow you to paste what you have just copied from an email???

Ok, they say that New Blue will do the job in PD10.

Is that correct please?

If not, what are my options please?

Remember that I am still using Vista Home Premium 32 bit - well, for the moment anyway.

Thanks,

Phil
Well here I am again unable to achieve this simple task in PD10.

I have a Timeline that exceeds one DVD so I want to have half of it on another DVD/Timeline and thus make 2 DVD's.

Can someone please advise how I can do this relatively easily?

I realise that this can be done two ways but don't know how to do either -

  1. Copy the lot and paste it to the new Timeline and remove the half that is not required later.

  2. Cut the half I want on the 2nd DVD and paste it to the new Timeline (dangerous with the chance of losing it all!)

Maybe there is another way?

Thanks.
I finished the video and it played back ok in the Preview Player but stopped short twice when I went to burn a disc. It said that burning was successful twice but it wasn't.
The video has a few clips but stopped short of the 13 minutes by between 5 and 6 minutes which is midway into the last clip.
The exact times were 7:51 and 7:14 into the video.
I don't want to waste any more blank DVD's
Any ideas please?
Thanks PepsiMan, I'll check it out.

Got the audio back again when I restarted PD10.
Yes, I realise that 3GB RAM is a bit low and sometimes I see the RAM being used can go into the 70, 80 and even 90% range. I have priced another 4GB stick of RAM about $50 Aussie which would take it up to 7GB total. How would that be?
Do you think that the 3GB is affecting PD10 operation though?

I don't think I have ever seen the rendering graph you mention though.

Back to my problem, I tried using DivX Converter which I found on my computer but could not load these DivX files onto it! Crikey!
So I did a search for free video converters and downloaded Any Video Converter (AVC) and converted one file to WMV and loaded that onto PD10 and it worked ok. The audio was playing ok as well but after stopping and starting the audio seemed to go awol.
At some stage it told me that the perspective of the video was 4:3 so will have to look at that and see what can be done to make it 16:9 at the start. But I assume that would be set in the Debut software.

re "additions to Quicktime and DivX, i've installed FFDSHOW codecs. " Is that important for me?
Thanks,
