Hi,
I have been playing my movies to my smart TV with chromecast with no problems with Powerdvd 19, so I don't think there is any issue with it in the program.
What is the exact setup you are using? Is your computer and Chromecast on WiFi, or connected via a cable?
Dave
I have tried playing from PowerDVD 19 to a Chromecast:
1. From a Win 7 desktop
2. From a brand new out of the box Win 10 desktop
3. Reinstalled on the Win 10 box - guided by Cyberlink Support
All to no avail.
There are three scenarios
1. PowerDVD 19 cannot find the Chromecast on the network. ie there is no option to Play To
2. It can find the Chromecast in Play To it starts to try and play, you get the rotating starburst, then it stops and the error message says it can't find the Chromecast.
3. Sometimes it plays, then I buy a Lotto ticket.

Hello,
If you just share media on a computer with PowerDVD 20 installed via "Share on Home Network", then you don't need to sign in to CyberLink Cloud for PowerPlayer to access it somewhere else in the house.
As long as you are connected to the same network as the first computer, and that computer is turned on, your mobile device with PowerPlayer can play the shared media. You should see the computer name underneath the "On This Device" button.
If you uploaded any media files to CyberLink Cloud, then that is when you need to sign in on the app to view them.
Cheers

That is logical I agree. However when I try to share a Media Library to my local network in PowerDVD 20 the next thing that happens is that a login box for Cyberlink Cloud pops up and I don't have a cloud account. When I try to redeem/create one I end up in an endless loop of Kafkaesque frustration, but thats not this problem. I will take shared media library question to the support organisation, they already have the Cloud question.

When you share media in Cyberlink PowerDVD 20 so that it can be accessed by the Cyberlink Power Play App on a Cellphone or mobile device why do you need to log in to the Cyberlink Cloud if the media is resident on the PC on which PowerDVD 20 is installed.. It seems a little un-neccessary.
I forgot to point out that I am not expecting to be able to connect over the Internet I only intend using this application on a local network with both cabled and wifi connected devices.

I am currently running Power DVD 19 and before that Power DVD 18. I purchased the program initially to play home made MP4 videos to a Chromecast attached to a large screen TV. This feature has never worked on my setup. I upgraded to PowerDVD 19 because I hoped the problem had been corrected. It hadn't been. I've subsequently upgraded my Windows PC to Win 10 and it made no difference.
All Power DVD 19 can detect on my network is a VR Headset which I don't have and have never had. Support have never been able to resolve this isssue which is a fundamental feature of the program.
Has this issue been resolved in Power DVD 20....

I can't offer any technical words but if you are seeking further information on what can be achieved have a look at this site. The bloke who runs it does a lot of video evaluations and uploads to YouTube from action cameras etc. His opinion is that YouTube will always give you a lower quality product than that direct from the camera. He has a lot of action camera reviews, some probably quite old but it should give you an idea of what it could look like. http://www.techmoan.com/blog/category/action-cameras

Thank you JL_JL however it does seem a little sucky that earlier versions of the program have content not available in later versions, possibly it's because it was an upgrade version and the program/company assume that the previous content will be available on the machine. Which doesn't seem correct being as you have to install a whole sequence of content packs every time you do an upgrade/install. Still it is what it is and it obviously doesn't exist in a simple installable format.

The Paint Animations Bubbles Frame, Christmas Light, Cloud Frame, Coffee Frame, Diamonds are missing from your All Content screenshot. They are not available in the DZ. Can't locate them on the hard drive with those names in a search.
It is possible that you have a later version of 365 that Cyberlink decide to do away with them. Older templates have been removed from older versions of PD. I have templates in my older version of PD that don't exist in the newer versions. I have seen reviews of software where the author calls the template dated, meaning that they appear too old and should be removed in favor of newly created fresh ones. This may have happened and could be the reason that the particular support person did not know the right answer.
Jeff answered first. It may not be in the perpetual version.
I've always used the perpetual version. On the old PC I initially purchased PD16, then upgraded to PD17 and then upgraded to PD18. When I purchased a new PC I struggled to install the version of PD18 I had the files for and went to Cyberlink support who supplied a set of download links and new license keys that allowed me to install the software. But it's missing the "Video Overlay PiP Objects - Paint Animations". Hence one of my first questions about where I could find them. I have had a call in with support but they have been very slow in responding with any information.

The magical content packs yes but which one. I have sought an answer from the customer support. The aspect ratio is 16x9 and if it exists it should be there. All the other menu items seem to be complete but it is obviously hard to tell given the large number of options.

Thanks for this but if you look at the attached jpg you will see that I do not have the menu item "Paint Animations" which is what I am looking for.
Cheers

Thanks for this response, I have found my titles.
The other question is harder in my new installation in the "Video Overlay (PiP Objects) Room (F5) - I am missing "Paint Animations". they were there in version 17 and 18 on my old PC, but I am not sure if they were an add on or part of the program. Is it possible to locate them on the old PC and move them accross and reinstall ? or is there another way to locate them ?

I thought I'd bump this thread. It has been many months since anybody commented and there have been a couple of patches for DVD19 since, but it still won't see or play to a Chromecast. Why does DVD19 default to playing to a VR Headset, I've never had one never even considered having one. In the meantime VLC have upgraded VLC and it can now play to Chromecast no problemo.

If I hadn't just bought the new Ryzen 3600 based PC and the Radeon RX 570 video card I would be looking to throw it away. Customer support have been very helpful but incompatible is incompatible and that appears to be the case.

|
This thread is morphing into a AMD Radeon 570 thread. In addition to the Collage Designer issues I also have an issue with the "Title Room", the "New Blue" title is a stroboscopic nightmare. The white text flashes and the black background in the preview panel is a myriad of flashing green dots. Sadly a static jpg can't capture the magic of the moment but I have tried.
I am of the opinion that my issue is the AMD Radeon 570 video card, the drivers or some other aspect of the system.

Staying with the original question and asking it again (in my head). I'm not sure that PowerDirector is compatible with the AMD product set. I have recently upgraded from a Win7 Intel i7 first generation machine (7 years old) to a Win10 AMD Ryzen 3600 machine with a Radeon 570 video card and apart from the speed increase I am having issues with Video Collage Designer in the preview window. Never had any issues with the Win7 machine apart from speed. The preview video is glitchy with a collage in it. Hardware or software or general incompatibility who knows. I have raised this issue with support. But it is frustrating.

I have recently upgraded my hardware and software to a Ryzen 3600 and Win10 and am in the process of looking at some old video and "testing" the new PC to convince myself the upgrade was of value (yes it was). However I was playing with the Video Collage Designer to see how quickly it could render a three video collage, just playing for fun and I noticed that the videos once in the collage "Glitch" fairly regularly even before they are rendered. This is not good. As I haven't quite de-commissioned my old desktop I replicated the collage on the old machine (yes I will remove/deinstall the Cyberlink software when I complete the new build, it's a slow process) but the same collage using the same videos does not "Glitch" at all in the old Win7 machine.
Note - for me "Glitch" is a term that describes a flicker or some lost frames in the video, not sure if it is a technical term.
This leaves me to think that the issue lies with the new PC but where do I start looking for a resolve. Is it hardware or software or compatibility with Cyberlink PD 18. I have included a DxDiag for the new machine.

I have just installed Power Director 18 on a new PC, the old PC has not been decomissioned yet. I was comparing the installations and trying to replicate the old installation on the new machine. I have kept copies of many of the original program downloads going back to PD16 and misc earlier PD downloads, and have copied across and installed a couple of special packs that have appeared in earlier individual releases.
I have two Questions:
1. Where on the old machine can I find the custom titles I have created over time and can I move them to the new machine ?
2. The Paint Animations are not present in the new installation of PD18 but are in PD18 on the old machine. Can I locate them in the old machine and move to the new machine. Or are they available online somewhere ?

Just to follow up on my earlier post, Cyberlink Support responded positively with a set of download links and a process to follow and I have now have a fully functioning copy of PowerDVD and Power Director on my new machine. Now to reinstall all the other software and transfer the data.....
|
|
This thread resonates with me currently. I use both PowerDVD and Power Director and since the original purchases have upgraded each program several times, I have now replaced my PC with a new machine and find that I am unable to install the versions that I have upgrade licences for because I don't currently have a licensed version on the new machine. Presumeably this means I have to load the original versions that I purchased, licence them and then upgrade them through many upgrade cycles, provided the original versions are not too old. I do not want to load old software on my new clean machine. I currently have a call logged with Cyberlink Support on this topic but I am not hopeful of a sensible resolve. Which leaves the question "Can you convert an Upgrade Licence into a full licence ?" and if so at what cost.
|
|
I have a question about the 11/12 files that complete the Power Director Suite. I have just upgrade from PD17 to PD18 and went through the process of downloading and installing the content packs and templates etc. It seemed to my naive mind that many of these files for PD18 were similar or identical to those for PD17. Could I have avoided the pain of downloading and installing the complete set which presumeably I will have to do again for PD19 or is this the easiest way for Cyberlink to deliver the program.

Thanks - Thought this was going to be the answer.
Assuming this is a technical issue beyond Cyberlink's control?
Not aware of any other product that claims it can do this.
The only piece of software I have used and only with audio files to play to the earlier audio chromecast was Plex and for audio files it was faultless. Haven't tried video. I'm not sure why playing to Chromecast is so problematic except it is a Google protocol the other puzzling thing is why it's so unreliable. I have used JRIVER media Centre for audio but haven't tried it for video. I may give it a shot
