Garioch,

How would I go about disabling the shadow files ?

My computer is quite clean and in fit shape for the program...It's very understandable that a large video project would hiccup despite the power of the CPU.
Hey,

I'm wondering if there are any tactics any of you have used or are familiar with to improve the operating performance of PD9. I have 8 gigs of ram, a core i7 720Q processor, and an nvidia gt 240m 1024 mb video memory. My laptop is quite snappy, and so it is very capable of handling this program. But often, especially as my projects get bigger with content, it can take a minute or two for PD9 to fully functional once it is already open. Also, I have to tone down the video quality to normal often, while watching any clip for editing/timing sake. Even in the middle of working with PD9, it will be fine in functioning, but then it will randomly slow down and freeze for like 30 seconds at times.

I am knowledgeable when it comes to cleaning a computer with software, as I use CCleaner, Auslogics Disk Defragmenter, Recommended registry cleaners, etc. I am also using the 64-bit version which from what I know reads the full 8 gb of RAM I have installed.

Anyway, if there are any additional tips you guys have for specifically speeding up PD9, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks
Hey there,

So I'm at a point on a current project where I would like to merge 2 separate scenes together to have a sort-of "fade effect." What I mean by this is let's say on the timeline I have 1 scene in place for lets say 10 seconds. But to really enhance the purpose of this clip within the context of the video, I want another scene to play at the same time as this 1st scene. And with a logical effort, this additional video clip to be overlaid would be "faded" so that both video clips can be seen simultaneously.

I'm loving PD9 the more I use it; I'm glad to be able to ask questions that will delve me deeper into the auspices of the program's awesomeness.

Thanks in advance.
One particular thing I would like to alter is my video's thumbnail. For my video, there are 4 default thumbnails I can choose from, but none of them are optimal for grabbing enough attention in my opinion. Is there a way I could go about adding more thumbnail snapshots from my video, without pulling my video off of youtube ? Like a 3rd party app or something ?

Advice on this would be great.
Thank You for that advice...I will use it to my advantage for this.

Anyhow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkMzjmxbjN4
Greetings,

A few days ago I posted a video I developed via powerdirector 9 onto youtube. In doing this, I included several tags to correlate to my video on a traditional youtube search. Moreover, I used a song from a well known band, and so the title of my video, which appears to people on the youtube results page, is the title of the song from that band. Is this a wise strategy ? I included tags of the band's name, as well as tags that relate to the topic of the video.

So, I have barely received any views over the past few days, which I am aware is quite common for starting up a video on the site. I read some info on sites about how to effectively promote your video to others. But, I am wondering if there is a tactic I can utilize that doesn't take an excessive degree of work (although that is probably the best methodology, for anything). I have posted a video response on the official music video of that song, which has about 220,000 views. Before this, I tried posting it to a video of the band that had 15 million views, and only 1 other video response. But, after choosing to post my vid as a vid response, my video did not show up on that page.

If any of you can provide some advice as to how I might receive more views that you have found works quite well, I would really appreciate it. Lastly, I've read that longer videos get less viewcounts; my video is 4.5 minutes, but there is nothing I can do about that since I've finished my video and trimming it would render the project useless.

Anyhow, thanks in advance.
So, I finished this video project of mine, and I want to post it up on youtube. Before I do this, I would like to know if there is anything I should know to account for, as I have a song from a well known band in this video.

I know from basics that I am to mention the song's author, but is there any other info I should post in my video regarding info like the record label or album name ? Also, I would assume that its not necessary to include my full name somewhere on the page/video...really just the song information, right ?

Thanks in advance...I always know solutions are imminently well served on these forums .
Thanks so much ! I knew it had to be something I overlooked.

I must say this is one of the more helpful forums I've used.
You can see the purple/blue text in the center of the clip.
If you could provide more specific details on this it would be a great help...i'm sure this requires only a few simple actions, but i've been trying to delete this 'My Title' effect from the 3 clips it appears on, and so far nothing has worked. I went to the title menu for the selected clip, and clicked on "cut title", and still nothing worked.

Advice here, in steps if possible, would be the solution to this thread.

Thanks

Hey all,

I'm almost finished with a video project i've been working on, and one of the last issues I need to clear up is with the text "My Title" which appears on some of the clips in my video. I'm unsure of why these text strings are on the clips they are on, but I want to get rid of the text. It appears on 3 of my clips, and the bluish text lasts the entire duration of the clip it is on.

Any way of getting rid of these random instances of text without deleting the affected clips and re-inserting them ? Although I could remedy this problem without much work, I would like to know how to do this for future reference and to preserve my multi-trimmed clips which were altered to match the timing of a song.

Thanks
Thanks for the help
I have the youtube downloader, and thus far it seems that the Apple .MOV file has the best quality. Am I better off just downloading a video via its URL insertion into the program, or would it be better to convert a video file that has already been downloaded and is stored on my comp ?

I'm presuming a direct URL download would provide better quality.
What you said makes much sense for this matter; I am wondering how to raise the bitrate on this video clip if it's already at 8. Would I be better off with a fresh copy of the video and convert it to a higher format such as .mpg ?
Hey yall,

so I've been working with this video project for a few months which I am now almost done with, but when I process the video in the best of video formats (MPEG-2, .MOV) I feel let down by the overall quality of some of the clips in my video. Almost all of my clips were converted to the .avi format after being saved to my computer from youtube via a file conversion program. As from what I know, .avi tends to produce lower quality audio + video. This makes me think that this file format is the culprit for my high definition woes. Do any of you think this is so ? And if yes, should I change the video format to a higher resolution one such as MPEG-2 ? How would I go about doing that while preserving the artistic integrity of my video ?

Just to note, I have experimented with much of the fix/enhancement settings in PD9, and I have utilized the video enhancement option in the majority of my clips, as well as suitable color & lighting conditions. After this all though, I feel let down from the quality. My goal is to get this video up on youtube with a relatively moderate amount of views, and so video definition is certainly necessary to reach this end result.

Also, in this post I have attached 1 of my clips which is of crappy quality.

Thanks
I'm aware of putting multiple effects simultaneously into a clip, all occurring at once. What I tried was adding a single effect to the effect track (below the audio track) based on timing. What I would love to do is, for instance, within 1 clip there is a large car pileup, and so I have the fire effect (in the effect track) begin once the cars crash. Let's say that I wanted either an additional smoke effect to occur either at the same time as the fire effect's position on the timeline, or at an earlier or later timing within the same clip.

I know how to get the 2nd effect to start at the same time as the 1st, if the 1st effect begins at the start of the clip. But in my clip the fire effect happens 8 seconds in, and I really want to have the smoke effect occur either at the same exact time as the fire effect (being midway through the clip, not in the beginning where the car's haven't yet crashed) or slightly later than the fire effect in that 1 clip. It's more than just dragging the additional effects into the visual track, since when I do that they all begin at the same time, which is when the video starts, and end when the clip ends. Is this where keyframes are supposed to come in ?

I hope you understand my particular question...this is really the last inquiry I have about operating the program.
Ok what got it working was to simply drag an effect to the effect bar underneath the audio bar. I put the effect at a certain time, but I want to have multiple effects at the same time, which I presume could be displayed in the effect bar. However, when I drag a second effect over to the same time span as the 1st effect, I am asked to either overwrite and insert the new effect over the older one.

Thus, my problem now is that I can't seem to figure out how to position multiple effects to initiate at the same time or at a random time within the video clip.

Also, I didn't need to split up the video clip to get the effect to start at a certain time within it. Instead I utilized the method that I mentioned earlier in this posting.
ok ill give it a shot. Although wouldn't creating a lot of clips concede to discontinuity, with transitions & all ? Or maybe I'm just getting it without trying it.

I'll report back when I used this approach.
Hey guys,

So I haven't been able to figure out how to chronologically space out effects or any visual alterations to a video clip. For instance, I am working on a video with about 10 clips, and there are clips where I want to wait x number of seconds before including that visual change. I knew how to figure this out in version 8, but now i'm lost here with this newest one. I tried experimenting with keyframes, which I figured would solve my issue...but i've tried a lot of things with the keyframes and nothing solved the issue that I am having.

It makes logical sense that this feature is in ver. 9...it's really just where inside the program it can be found.

Advice would be great
any leads would be great...
So I've had powerdirector 9 for about a month now, and I've been feeling limited with the number of special effects options that are available for inclusion into my video clips. Is there a particular website that offers more effects downloads, whether bundled in content packages or not, that I could utilize ?

Thanks
