Copying and pasting the timeline in another project in PD10
[Post New]
Well here I am again unable to achieve this simple task in PD10.

I have a Timeline that exceeds one DVD so I want to have half of it on another DVD/Timeline and thus make 2 DVD's.

Can someone please advise how I can do this relatively easily?

I realise that this can be done two ways but don't know how to do either -

  1. Copy the lot and paste it to the new Timeline and remove the half that is not required later.

  2. Cut the half I want on the 2nd DVD and paste it to the new Timeline (dangerous with the chance of losing it all!)

Maybe there is another way?

Thanks.

I would save the whole thing as a 'Master' project. Then... create a new project by opening ( you dont HAVE to open it if it's already open and saved) the 'Master' - like you've stated - highlight the part you do NOT want and delete it. SAVE THIS 1/2 project UNDER A NEW NAME... very important as you do NOT want to save under the 'Master ' Project title - give it a new name - like " (whatever you want to call it) part 1. That leaves what you want on the DVD.

Then reopen the Master project and highlight the first half and delete that... SAVE THAT as the second (part 2) DVD. This method - no cutting and pasting ... but highlighting and deleting. This does involve saving and reopening files a few times though.

That's pretty much how I'd do it. It really isn't all that complicated.
