Lucida Calligraphy font in PD14
[Post New]
I just splashed out on PD 14 after having had PD10 for a few years.

However, when I went to make a title to add to the timeline I was astonished to find that the Lucida Calligraphy font was not there.

Assuming I haven't made a mistake then can someone please explain why this rather lovely font has been axed?

I mean, there are lots and lots of very similar but rather plain fonts but I have always used Lucida Calligraphy for my titles.

Maybe there is a way to import Lucida Calligraphy into PD14 but surely a better solution would be to leave it alone in the first place.

That font is available in all versions of PD that I have. Where you select the font in PD14 title designer may look different that in the PD10 title designer. See the attached for details on how to do it.

There may be a steep learning curve ahead for you as PD14 has lots of new features accumulated over the last 4 years.

i don't have it either.

both my dell laptop and the desktop do not have the Lucida Calligraphy fonts and many others.

tomasc and Longedge have'em.

if you have windows xp with MSO then you're in luck. see tomasc link

copy windows xp fonts from c:\windows\fonts

then paste to your current OS c:\windows\fonts

PD uses the OS windows\fonts.

Interesting. According to the Microsoft website here, the Lucida Calligraphy font is supplied free with the list of Microsoft product software on that page: https://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/font.aspx?FMID=997 . The link to purchase this font is $35 if you do not desire to obtain or buy any of those MS product or software.

Looks like that PepsiMan is willing to give it to you free.

you're partially correct.

PD uses the windows fonts.

when 7Phil77 deinstalled the program that had the Lucida did it.

all 7Phil77 has to do is reinstall that program and he's good to go.

I have not seen where uninstalling an app or program also removes the fonts it left behind. That would be great as I have too many fonts installed on my pc that I don't use from apps such as printer drivers, artistic software, etc.

It is possible that 7Phil77 is not familiar with the title designer in PD14 but familiar with the one in PD10 and that font is available to him.

Thanks guys.

My old PC was running Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium.
I had on it Microsoft Home and Student 2007.
On my old PC I had PD10.

On my new PC I have Windows 10 and to have Word I installed Microsoft Home and Student 2007.
On mynew PC I have PD14.

Are you saying I have to install PD10 on my new PC to get Lucida Calligraphy font?

If so, how do I do that please?

I just checked Word in Office Home and Student 2007 on my new PC and Lucida Calligraphy is not there!

But on my old PC, Lucida Calligraphy is there in Word in Office Home and Student 2007.

Surely you are not saying that Lucida Calligraphy is only on my old PC because I have PD10 on it too?

Now I am very confused.

This statement above caused the contributors here to believe that Phil installed PD14 on the same computer that has his previous PD10 in which he admits now is not the case.

He could have obtained that font free from say office 2013, the instruction from PepsiMan, his old computer, a different website or just pay $35 in the MS link if he really wants it. There are many options and most are free.

eBay item number:272388974436

better than paying $35.00 for a font. i think so.

or an upgrade to MSO2007 Pro for thirty peanuts. eBay item number:282164879128

you can upgrade your student version.

i remember my very first MSO came with 7 free fonts and everyone in the businesses was standardizing

on times new roman 12 font. in order for me to get that single font i had to pay $50.00 back in the

early 1990's!

yup that MSO came in 5.25" floppies, too.

You can get fonts from Microsoft, most are free.

This one is Lucida Calligraphy:

https://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/family.aspx?FID=117

A Google Search for Fonts will turn up many choices, some are free, some are not free.

You can install in Windows any font you want, Once installed in Windows, those fonts are available in Powerdirector Title Designer and all Microsoft programs (Word). Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.
