I should have tried a little harder on my own before crying for help. I found the product key under My Membership on the left side of the home page.
Sorry to waste anyone's time on this.

I just remembered I have PD11 on my other laptop. I looked in the Help section to no avail.
|
|
Today my project was to R&R PD11. I have the CD with the product key written on it. However, when I try to register I am told that my product key is incorrect.
I should have looked at "about PD11" under help. It may have told me the product key before I uninstalled it?
Any ideas on how I can obtain my product key from Cyperlink.
Thanks for your assistance before hand.

I have done 3-4 system restores since having troubles with PD for other computer issues in last several months. They had no affect on the performance on PD.
Thanks for the idea.
I also need knocked in the head a few times to get the idea!

Thanks for your interest in helping me. I have worked with PD for over five years. I have added transitions hundreds of times.
You are correct you can only add transitions to a video track between clips.
I had something very strange taking place for a short time. It has stopped acting the way it was and I can once again add transitions. I think I am going to remove and reinstall PD as I am fighting to many little things other than this.

Thanks for the response.
I have added hundreds of transitions before. When you drag one down, you usually get a little vertical rectangle that you place between clips.
When I drag the transition down I get that little icon until I drop below the transitions window and then it turns to the round circle with a line through it.
Thanks,
Scott

I have used PD11 for awhile now. All of a sudden I can't add transitions. I try to drag a transition into place, but once I get to the tracks all I get is the circle with a line through it. I am not sure what is going on. I have restarted the program, and then restarted the computer and I still can't do it.
I also started a new project and also adding a transition at the end of a clip, and I still can't do anything.
Please help.

Thank you. I will give that a try.

Thanks for the response Playsound, but I am a little dense. I see your outline of the text button and the save button, but I guess I am not understanding just what you are getting at.
This is a project that has been modified for a client numerous times over the last two years! He keeps paying to make changes, then he and his wife realize they don't like the change and ask for something different. But I guess I will just keep taking the money.
Please try to explain your recommendation in a little more simple way.
Thank you,
Scott

Thanks for the response.
I am just using a blank title screen with roll motion going from bottom to top. Every few words I am getting the message. Sometimes my work will save and sometimes it won't.
If I save the project and then R&R PD11, will the problem stay in the project or will that fix the issue?
I am a basic user and really don't do anything to fancy.

I am having a more persistent problem while creating a title page. The "Encountered an improper argument" keeps coming up.
I have tried restarting the whole program. I have installed all updates. Does anyone have an idea how to resolve this short of reinstalling the software?

I finally found Nero video converter to convert the DVD video to MPEG4. I can now put this into PD11 and edit.
Thank you for the response and will keep this option in mind for another time.

I had some Hi8 video converted to DVD's by someone else. (Original camcorder no longer available) I am not sure what format they are in, but they will not play on a PC.
I have tried using a couple of free video converters but the one I used would take over three hours to convert 1 hour of video.
I used to use Pinnacle video editing software. I still have the 500usb converter. I plugged the AVI cables into the back of the DVD player and then through the 500 device. I had to download a new driver for it, but the only one I could find was for a Vista 64 bit system and I have W7 64bit. The computer recognizes the device, but PD11 does not.
Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks,
Scott

I just saw this post. I occasionally have the same problem. In the timeline everything plays fine, even in preview things look good. Yet I will occasionally get a report from a client that a small segment of video will show up as a green band, with audio in place. Seems this started for me with PD11, and not PD10. All drivers up to date. I can't recreate problem on computer for a screen shot as I said it all looks fine. Video is all the same format through out video, but it is a full segment that shows green. Have tried with, and without, hardware acceleration but problem is so intermittent that I can't really get a handle on it. I think, but not sure, that whether hardware acceleration is on or off makes no difference.

I will give that a try using "create a folder" option.
I just went ahead and upgraded to PD11. I didn't get my thank you email from CL with the download link. I am on the phone now trying to remedy that. Have been on hold over 5 min so far just to ask this simple question.
Without this forum, and people like you, this software would almost be worthless due to the amount of frustration it can create. Even when I had paid support it was pretty pathetic.
The tech guy came back and said that he would send me an email in 15-20 minutes. I asked him why he can't send it to me now, so that if there is another problem we can deal with it and not have to call back in and jump through all their hoops again. He finally said to stay on hold and he will send it to me. I guess "time" will tell if he comes back in 20 minutes??? Also told him without the forum their product would be worthless.
thanks,
Scott

Once again I appreciate your help with a novice. I am now burning the DL disc.
If I upgrade to PD11 will I have any problems importing any PD10 projects into it, or do I need to keep PD10 running until those projects are done?
I think this will be my last question.

Great info. Just what I needed.
I just tried burning a project with the +R DL's I picked up, using PD10 Ultra. I selected the basic DVD disc type under the 2D tab. With this, or anything else I attempted, I got the message that my disc size was to small for the project, 7620MB.
Do I need to upgrade to PD11, or what do I select in PD10 Ultra to get this to burn?
You have been such a great help and I really appreciate your dedication.
Thanks,
Scott

Thanks for the help. I have everything set and working as they are supposed too. I appreciate the information on why you have to set regions.
One last unrelated question, I have always used -R DVD's for my little hobby business of transferring 8mm film. I found that they will play on more of the older DVD players compared to +R's. I am now looking at using +R DL's, which are about all you can find in the double layer format. Do you think there will be any problem with these playing on older DVD players out there?
Most of my cliental are older people, and many mention how old there equipment is. So, if you have any information on the differences of + and - DVD's I'd appreciate knowing.

Ok. I guess I should RTFM. (read the freacking manual!!) I used my sony and was able to burn the BD after I selected the region.
Why do they require you to select regions? I have used regular external DVD burners and have never had to do that. I don't know if they tell you to do that in the manual since I don't seem to read them!
Thanks for looking that up for me, and if you have an answer to my question please let me know.
