4 1TB ssd inside computer storage
Generally, I/O not a bottleneck with any compressed video (h.264, h.265) and PD editing. Face it, for most consumer type cameras one has 20-60Mbps source so one's only talking 7.5MB/sec read and similar write for same quality and 1X encode speed. Even multiple video tracks and CPU/GPU hardware capable of 2X encode speeds will still be easily handled by any current HDD as most have 200+MB/sec read/write capability. Currently only time a SSD beneficial for PD editing is for source destination when one uses an intermediate codec as there you have 10X the read rate for editing in PD. Several video tracks of intermediate codec source can become a read issue without proper hardware. Of course, many WIN benefits for OS SSD drive.

Now I want to do rendering of my video files utelizing all the processors, memory, and ram available.
Not sure of your distinction between memory and ram, they are the same. PD will only use the RAM needed for the transient timeline conditions, having more does nothing for PD. So highly unlikely you'll come close to needing 32GB unless you've got many tracks of high quality source video.

I don't think it is using all resources for the rendering. I have other computers on the network with their own path to the router trrough the alternater switch.
Simply monitor with any of many utilities and see what resources are being used. PD15 will do a pretty good job utilizing the CPU at hand when the system is properly configured. Chart attached shows CPU total load and PD able to maintain 90+% CPU load on 12 procs. That's pretty reasonable, no real bottlenecks. Results for 3 different produce profiles are shown in the chart.
Obviously, your network plays absolutely no roll unless you do I/O to a NAS, then why would one invest in 4 local SSD's in the edit platform, so unlikely you’re doing that.

I have the NVIDIA quadro K20000 video processing.
I'd assume you mean K2000, not really a wise choice for video editing with PD, it’s a Kepler based GPU with features to focus on CAD apps. There is a pretty detailed thread of SoNic67 and myself discussing the merits with lots of practical PD performance trades, http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/47937.page#post_box_251070 PD14 but just the same. If you want Nvidia GPU encoding to unload the I7, then any 900 or 10 series Geforce a better/cheaper option than Quadro unless you need the CAD/CAM benefits. If CPU encoding the GPU offers no significant additional advantage for most timeline contents so no major impact.

Hello,
I do understad the idifference between ram and memory. Sometimes I use the terms intechangebly. 40 years in IT, as CIO I did learn a few things (of course they are obsolete now). I built my configuration from scratch, rebuild computers, and do upscale video transfers and productions.
- I believe with 32GB ram, it would allow single thread processin faster because it could fill the RAM and not have to go out and continually get data from drives.
2. My main thrust was on the 4 processors on the Intel I7 quad Processor . Does PowerDirector 15 use all the processors when rendering? Other rendering programs I have used indicate while rendering that they are using all the processiors, PowwerDirector 15 doesn't seem to do that do that. So just wondering.

The rendering and encoding (compressing) process takes so much more time than the writing the resulting file on the HDD.
SSD are great for OS partition, for the programs folder...
BTW if you don't have two monitors, you can still "swap" them in front of the rendering window (after you start the rendering).
Yep, I have done that before. Awhile ago I set up my computers to play to my big screen 75" TV by swapping monitor setups. At that time using the mouse from about 15 feet. The big screen was just on the other side of my computer lab wall. Didn't last long. Too confusing to keep changing the monitor setups.
Thanks,
Again
I do have extra monitors so sill give it a try soon.

I think that at some point there is a latency bottleneck - at least for my system this is the case.
While rendering run in the same time GPUZ (to monitor the GPU utilization) and Resource Monitor (from Windows task Manager) to check CPU, memory, HDD utilization.
If you have two monitors, it's even nicer. From my own experience, the SSD's used for rendering are just wasted money, you will not see utilization speeds above 10% on those.
I may set up two monitors to watch resource utilization.
I though SSds were the cats-meow. Apparently absolute addressing takes more time then contiguous files. Can't keep up.
Thanks,
Alan

I have a computer with the following configuration:
Intel I7 quad processor
4 1TB ssd inside computer storage
8 corsair fans for cooling
32GB memory
connected to 1GB network
dual paths to router from two 1GB switches
Now I want to do rendering of my video files utelizing all the processors, memory, and ram available.
I don't think it is using all resources for the rendering. I have other computers on the network with their own path to the router trrough the alternater switch.
Any suggestion on using all resosurces for rendering and to know if it is using all resources would sure be helpful.
I have the NVIDIA quadro K20000 video processing.
Thanks,
Alan

It took a lot of disks to find out that PD15 does not handle audio wav format when rendering.
It always had in previous versions.
When rendering highresolution video with WAV audio formats it app;ears to do just fine.
However, you try to play the burned BD disk, after it plays the intro, it hangs up; the BD player. I have tried it in Sony players, Samsung players both older ones and newer ones wtith the same result.
To figutre it out I had to strip the audio from the video and the video plays OK.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this probleem?
This problem has been resolved.
There was a problem in the PD15 software regarding burning of WAV audio files with HD video.
After exhausting all blind alleys, I did the latest PD15 update and that resolved the problem.
Thanks,
Alan

I have a video converted from retro-8 scanner. The frame rate that was exported from the scanner is JPEG @ 17FPS.
How do I get that to coinicide with the 29.97 FPS speed ?
Confused: Do we bring read the 17FPS which was scanned, to 29.97 fps or bring the Powerdirector framerate from 29.97 down to the 17fps.

I am looking at getting into 360 VR production. Powerdivd does not support "stitching" will it do so in the near future?
Is the 360 video editing fairly complete or are we at the beginning stages of a new technologhy?

Trying to decide wheter to wait for 17 with the fixes or what?

I will check.
However, I was burning at :
encoding format H264 and hd1920 x 1080/24p - tried twice and failed twice with the mentioned error.
Then I changed the encoding to: H264 and 1920 x 1080/60i and it worked right off.
Don't know if this will help others with the same error.
I will check to make sure I have the latest update.
Thanks,
Alan

Trying to burn blu-ray disk, after it starts burning, It stops with this error code ec00c0005. Any clues?

Did not know they would not show when played on screen, if they are not used.
Learn something everyday.
Hard to find good menu templates that work. Tried one a couple of months ago and it took down the entire computer. I reported it and it was removed after being checked out.
I have 100 videos to put into this menu to burn on blu-ray.
Thanks,
Alan

I also sent the question to Henry to see if I can get a response.
|
|
It is the one by Henry the second one - dvd menu 1266.
Does not seem to be a way of eliminating the 3 buttons on the bottom of the root page.
I am not a novice at this. The buttons may be built into the menu structure where you cannot change it. Even in the modify mode.
Give it a try.
|

Yes it is form Director Zone.
The Author is Henry.
The actual menu name is: menu actual

You are right about some of the menu templates being garbage.. Found a great looking one a few months ago, installed it and it froze up the entire computer when I tried to use it. I reported it to Director Zone and they tested it then deleted it.
I bought Vegas as a backup to PD. Can't sell PD projects.
PD is a God send compared to the highly touted Vegas
Thought you would like to know. So now if I have a paying customer I mingle Vegas into the project to be legal.

Yes. I load the edited video files into the menu then burn them. The 3 buttons at the bottom of the root page are in the way and not used.

Thanks for your help.
Choe the 2015 Home Entertainment menu template.
It is a modifiable template. I cannot find a way to remove the 3 buttons at the botom of the root page (seems to be built into the template)..
Any ideas?
Thanks.

It seems that Cyberlink has reduced the number of menu templates for dvd producing.
Even directorzone does not show many.
Does anyone have experience in disk menu templates and where we might find some good ones. Even if we have to pay for it.
I have about 100 videos to process on blu-ray disks but cannot find any good menu templates out there.
Thanks

I edit all the films (in this case 93 films) and put them out individually to a holding folder. Then I bring up create, add the menu, them load the files into that menu 20-30 at a time filling up a Blu-ray DL disk. Then burn the DVD.
So I am not working from the timeline.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Wish we had more choices for menus.
I guess I will have to figure out how to make my own. Didn't want to do that.

Have you tried my work around. It seems to work. I just burned 24, and now another 30 or so videos with the workaround and it seems to work OK.
Powerdirector had a nice menu in version 13 called "interactive" that I liked. They removed it from version 13. I complained to no avail.
