Have you tried my work around. It seems to work. I just burned 24, and now another 30 or so videos with the workaround and it seems to work OK.

Powerdirector had a nice menu in version 13 called "interactive" that I liked. They removed it from version 13. I complained to no avail.

Alan
I am convinced the 2 menus have the same bug. The same author probably borrowed from one for the other and now we have the same bug in both.

This is the problem:

Picking one of the menus and clicking on "apply too all Pages", then going to download the content produces a PowerDirector freeze, and a crashes the computer. (you have to reboot) ctl/alt/del does not work the computer is frozen. It freezes with message"checking menu settings", Updating menu pages" it forever stays there until you reboot the computer and start over.

The workaround:

Click on one of the two menus and only pick "apply" then download the video files. After the video files are loaded go back and pick the same menu choice and now pick "apply to all pages".

That seems to be the work around until the bug gets fixed.

I like inspirational menus.

Alan
FYI the edited files I am dropping on the create disk are .MP4 files. They work everywhere else so I do not think that is an issue.
I like the looks of the menus. Most of the other menus seem to be for kids or gamers etc. These (all 93) (plus more coming) videos are for old timers.

Did you provide your test with enough videos to at least force a second page?

I am using a high powered computer I built. 1TB internal storage all SSD, 32GB memory, 8 fans, Asus fast motherboard, 850W powersupply.Intel I7 processor, etc so I know I have enough computer to process these videos.

Just applied video only to the menu, then added the 24 videos, (that went very fast no hesitation or freezing) then went back and used the apply all from the same menu and now it is processing.

Like I say I tried it on two computers with the same result - that why I am leaning towards a bug. Also from the same author.

What did you do on director zone that I should try?

Alan
Downloaded erde-mond menu from director zone. Same results. If you set the menu to 'apply all' before you add the content it hangs powerdirector 13 ( while adding the content) and the computer crashes on either menu and you have to reboot

But, if you set the menu to 'apply' only then add the content, then come back and do the 'apply all' it seems to work. (I think)

Same author for both menus.

Try it and see if you get the same results.

I have 93 videos to put into shows.

Are there other places to get menu content even if you might have to pay for them?

Alan
Yes they seemed to work OK in the preview.

The highlight highlighted the whole button area more then I would like but it did work.

I downloaded the menu-somme menu to my other computer and get the same result.

Can't change the highlight in either case through modify - that I know about.
Downloaded menu-sonne from director zone.

Clicking on menu-sonne, then 'apply all' (after doing some modifying to menu-sonne), it takes forever to load the prepared edited files to the disk.

After testing and loading one at a time it takes several minutes to load one file.

After you finally get the files loaded and burn the Blu-ray disk, I find the button highlights do not work when you roll the mouse over the buttons during playback.

Cannot find anything in modify to correct this.

During the process of making it work powerdirecto13 crashed (on sever occasions) and I lost everything and had to reboot the computer.

Any Help?

Alan
Hello,

I tried and did modify it and saved as another name before posting the problem.

That made no difference. The other menus work OK.

In my case the apply to all does not work - it hangs and freezes the whole computer.

Apply to all on the other menus work OK.

Like I said I have the work around - but just trying to see if there is a perceived bug fix.

Alan
In Create:
Using downloaded menu (menu-sonne) from Director zone and loading already rendered .mp4 files from content menu- the program freezes at 82% and I have to restart the computer.

If I choose the menu-sonne, and only do an apply it will load all the files. But then I have to go back and do an apply all using the menu structure I want for the sub title pages. (By using apply only during the first content load I get all of the files ok, but the sub title pages come from the previous program).

I have tried using the setting on hardware acceleration decoding on and off and it makes no difference.

I believe the menu-sonne from the director zone has a bug.

Regards,

Alan
In applying stabilizer, it causes the whole frame to jump around.

Seemed like it worked before now not so good.
Just to provide you with more evidence:

I have paid Cyberlink $440 for software to get me to the latest versions of all Cyberlink products that I use - and is equal to the Vegas version which I paid $414 for.. Now if I have to go line by line that is asking a bit much!

In addition I paid Cyberlink and extra $30 for phone support which was basically useless.

My only question was can we put pressure on Cyberlink to modify their Eula. Not what the Eula says. We all know what the Eula says - but can it get changed so we can sell the end product?

Alan
I have read all the Eula agreements and talked personally to all the companies.

I know what I paid for both products and stand by what I have said.

I have compared apples to apples.

Not sure why you want to argue the situation without out all the facts I have provided in my case.

For me, this ends this conversation.

Alan
One final note:

The price Ii paid for Cyberlink software including the latest upgrade price came to more then the $400 I paid for
Sony Vegas Pro 13.

So, Sonic is way off base.

I purchased Vegas Pro 13 because it did not look like I had any other alternative - if I want to sell the end product.

I did not want to move off of Cyberlink software to learn a new more complicated software package (and I wonder how many others there are like me in this respect).

Maybe there is no demand like mine- If not I will be moving on.

Alan
Don't agree with Sonic.

You can buy Sony Vegas Pro 13 without these restrictions for $400. I know. I just did. I like the simplicity of Powerdirector that is why I am investigating the possibilities.

We don't need the sarcasm in our discussions We all need to discuss and review the possibilities for the improvement of Powerdirector for everyone.

Alan
I agree, Barry. You cannot know what you do not know.

Is there a provision in the forum to inquire from Cyberlink/Powerdirector users as to their interest in this change in the Eula agreement?

I do not believe in rolling over and saying that this is the way it is live with it. (Not the American way)

Cyberlink also wants to know what its users want and if this is something they want and are willing to pay a little more to have this provision - they would do it. It certainly could help their bottom line.

Alan
Any chance Cyberlink will change their EULA so you can sell the finished product?

Seems foolish of them not to allow that provision - it seems it would be important to many people.

Alan
I think I am zoning in on it using the manual.

The manual does not discuss the XAVCS format which seems to be not much different then the .264 format. They both produce .MP4 rendered files. (XAVCS is supposed to be a little better from what I understand)

If the SVRT line on the timeline is green it does not need to be re-rendered. If is red it does have to be re-rendered.

Not clear on adding a music track in a rendered file. It would seem it would have to be multiplexed into the video stream which means re-rendering. But what do I know.

Tried taking a rendered video file only, then set the SVRT then added music, the green line still showed you do not need to re-render the file. I imagine you still have to produce it out to get the music added it just may not re-render the video.

Not sure.

Alan
Tried it with a file created by XAVCS - the file created was a .MP4 file.

It had an audio stream on the audio track.

I may just have to add the music during the first edit prior to PRODUCE. Prior to rendering/multiplexing the file out for creation.

Alan
Using Xavcs and with a video file and audio file on the timeline the SVRT is grayed out and not usable. It also seems to be grayed out with different rendering options.

Alan
Hello once again,

I have 100's of films that I have scanned and put in position for editing.

My question is: during editing I usually add the music and do one render for the whole edit process for each film.

If I do the editing without adding the music then come back and add the music and do a second rendering do I lose quality and file size by the second rendering?

I would do normal editing for all the films then come back and do all the music additions and render/multiplex the music into the videos then move on the create disk.

Alan
It was not that I did not want to hear what you were saying - rather trying to apply my limited use of the product to see if it applied to Cyberlink's eula.

Don't understand Cyberlink having that kind of restriction, it seems a lot of people want to use the product in many ways - one like what I do. It seems it would limit their market.

Like me, to do what I want to do I have to leave Cyberlink for a product that does not have these unreasonable restrictions. So they lost a customer. I bet there are a lot more like me.

I basically was saying I did not think it applied to how I was using it. Obviously I was wrong.

Thanks,

Alan
