To "on the web" :
I am using AMD PHENOM 4x 2.2GHz, 4GB RAM, Nvidia 9600GTS,

so I don´t think that problem is in slow PC

To "alex":
Converting takes time and when I spend money for editing software which should be a "complete solution" , I dont like to waste time with converting in other software .

Besides Sony Vegas9 and Pinnacle12.1 have no problems with any AVCHD files. PD8 came later so I expected full support.
I am very sorry but I have to give up with PowerDirector because even version 8 is not able to work with video files from my camcorder.
The output video is jerky and unstable.
Cam: Samsung HMX20C
files: AVCHD MP4 1920x1080 50i 15,6Mb/s

I was trying more than 10 types of known editing software and PD8 is one of 4 that don´t work with files from Samsung cam.

bye
Marek
solution - may be

I tried to edit MPEG4 HD videos from samsung camera in PD7 on hi-end machine (I don't know the specs but it was PC for some kind of showroom)- everything went clear and smooth.

So my decision is that editing of that type of files has extremely high requierements and we just have to wait for having extra powerfull pc .

hi tommy
I already have Core AVC instaled and there is no improvement on PD.
I try to install Pure video as you mentioned and we will see - maybe it will help.

hi
I am from Czech republic.
I know that samsung gives PD6 for free wth the camera but I think the only reason is that this sw is free also for Samsung company so they use it like a bonus.
Hi Tommy
I also have the Samsung HMX20c .
Problems with files from this camera are because of Power director doesn't fully support this kind of MPEG4 encryption.
I have written many questions and suggestions here at forum but only thing I figured out is :
1) if I am working with SD resolution - Power director is able to edit it good and if I produce it into MPEG2 file - it looks fine

2)when I am working with HD resolution I have to convert Samsungs MPEG4 files into MPEG2 format (1920x1080, 25fps, 30000kbps, with some profi converting sw)

Then Power director can edit and produce it very good.

When I was trying to edit HD MPEG4 files directly in PD7 it looked very bad.

I also sent one file from camera to Daffyd for exploring where in PD is a foul. But I haven't receive any info.

hello everybody
I just have made a little test.
I took 2 hrs of video from my cam (156 files) in HD MP4 (16 GB of space). I put it in one folder with the shortest access I could do(C:\pdwork).
Then I placed it all in PD7 and produced into BD file (with some transitions, titles, music and images)
Everything went great - after 30 minutes PD7 made 22,5 GB BD file.
There was no hanging .
I think - to place every files from project into one folder with easy acces can help to resolve hanging problems.

hi Scott

It's cool that users can help each other on here with PD7 problems, but Cyberlink really needs to fix these bugs...we users aren't on their payroll to do this.

hi
you´re absolutely right.
Hello everybody
Many of you have the same problem - PD7 is jamned after producing part of file (20%, 50%, 92% etc.) without any message of error.

This is a foul of PD 7 software and Cyberlink should to repair it.

Here is at least temporary solution:
1) after PD stops in producing or creating disc (let the PD create on HDD)
turn off PD
2) look into the directory where should be produced file - you´ll find produced file even it is not produced whole

3) play the file and look at the end
4) the end of file is exactly the corrupting part in PD7
5) open the project in PD
6) look at the corrupted position you have found
7) remove any effect, pip, transition or piece of video file at the position
if the position is between two video files - remove piece of end of the first and piece of start of the second
9) try to produce again

this should help

I have resolved that problem by this way many times so I belive that it will help you everybody till Cybelink do so.

hi
It is not always the same effect.
In one my project the X-ray effect caused the hang of create disc but in other project the X-ray worked with no problem.
Mostly it hangs on 3D transitions .
I dont understand what exactly causes theese hangs but when I replace the efect - the problem is off.
hi everybody
the problem is that PD hangs due to using of some effects.
Try this:
1. let the PD to create disc into hard drive folder
2. after it hangs, cancel creating
3. open and play created VOB file(there will be created the VOB file in VIDEO TS folder) in any software dvd player - look at the place where the VOB ends
3. look and find this place in your project in PD timeline
4. remove effect or pip or anything else from that place in project
5.try to create disc again - now it should be OK

good luck
Hey DWRECORDING! - I think you´re lame duck.
At first you should check out your PC - certainly full of porn from net.
And maybe if you buy some book about basic operations with PC - after few hours of reading you will be able to resolve your really tough problem.... )))

Please be aware you're asking me to look at a HD footage that you want rendered to a lower resolution - heck it isn't going to be better than what you have already.

I´m sorry I wanted to write : please try to produce into BD mpeg.....

hi dafydd

yes - PD 7 can open it , PD 7 can put it into timeline also,
but says: bad TV format.

Please try to produce the video into DVD mpeq, and then look at the edges and check smoothness of output video.
It looks bad.
I think PD can not recalculate 50fps of source video into 25fps of output videofile without corrupting the smooth movement

thank you
marek

For cuple of weeks I am trying to find out why Cybrlink bundles Power director6 to Samsung HMX20C when it doesn´t support format of videofiles from this camcorder.
I asked the technical support but without helpful reaction.
Is there somebody owner of the same camcorder?
How do you solve problems with 50fps files when PD supports only 25fps?
thank you for any info
marek
Hi Adrian
thank you for your quick answer.
I was trying to read mostly everything about avc hd on cyberlink forums, but I had not found anything useful for me.
Problem for me is that PD software was bundled to camcorder so I dont understand why files from this camcorder are unsupported.
Maybe I just need information if PD is really unable to work with files from the samsung camcorder and I have to wait for new version of Power director.

thank you
marek
