Hmm. Ok. I would in that case completely uninstall PD and install it again. If it has worked before, it should do so again. If not, then it may be good to check drivers, and settings etc.
Please allow me a suggestion: There is the obvious possibility that the current PD version cannot cope with 16 projects. Restarting PD after the has crashed may end in another crash when at startup PD attempts to open the last project used. I suggest that you rename or move this last project, so that PD cannot find it anymore.
After that, if PD starts normally, then untick the “automatically load last project” in the preferences/projects? Then look at the project file to see what ever incompatibly issues may be in there. Maybe share that project file here?
Agreed! Problems are indeed always annoying.
The Application Manager took a fair share of these, but currently it appears to be functioning OKAY; sometimes slow, but OKAY. If there is no reaction after you have entered your user-id and password, it may be that it cannot contact CL, maybe good to check whether it is being blocked by the firewall?
Do you have PD up and running? Have your credentials been accepted there? If something is wrong with them you will get a message.
Upgrading drivers is sometimes unavoidable. And we have begged Cyberlink to come with function that allows users to go back to a previous version, should to new cause problems. I guess that you have shared your problems with CL technical support?
I have even more results for both searches ;
Are we talking about the same thing. in PD19 there are stil limitations for editing motion titles, but colors can be changed?
Maybe a good idea to download one for DZ and check whether the files are comparable with the provided title files.
Do you have an example? Happy to look at these too.
The files I have seen in DZ are built differently, consist of a bunch of PNG files. A number have been created by Godfrey who is behind PDTemplateZone:
https://oneclickmobi.com/powerdirector-templates/powerdirector-free-black-white-10x-title-pack/
There is software there too, Highly recommended!

W.r.t. colors also check out what Maliek can do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qb6nEbN4RHE

Have fun

It would be good if we could create our own motion graphic titles indeed.
I have not found a way yet, but PD enables you to modify existing motion titles and save them. They will then become available under the custom tab.
PD stores the new titles in: c:\Users\%userdname%\Documents\Cyberlink\PowerDirector\19.0\MyTitles
Each title in a new folder with a sequence number starting with 000 (Title_000]
If you look inside the .CLT file, you see the XML parameters for the moving title. You can try and change these, but obviously it is easier and safer to have software that can help you with that.
If not already, maybe an idea for Cyberlink, to make this software available and have members to upload their creations in the DirectorZone?
Very good tutorial Steve, as always!
So, what screen recorder DID you use?
Indeed.

Color boards to be found as a Tab in de Media room (F3), and

The lower track is in the timeline the track above the track with your title or
under the track with your title if you have set the reserve track order on in the preferences/editing options.

You can of course also use (as you say) your own 1920x1080 images.
Indeed! I can confirm that the ShutterStock search works fine again. Display of the first page and you see pages being added in the background. Perfect!
Good to know Tony!
Thanks for looking at this and keeping us informed!
When I search for Videos using a word, PowerDirector comes back with the (error) message:
No Matches were found. Make sure the spelling is correct or try using a simpler search.

I get this message every time I enter a search word when looking for Videos. Even using the words like HOUSE, SAND, WATER, etc are I would recon simple enough?

It works fine when using the same words looking for a photo or music. PD (or ShutterSTock) returns search results rapidly.
Also searching for POSSIBLE and GROUND MACHINE gives a few results....

Now sometimes the search result still appears a few moments after I have acknowledged the message.

Switching between photo and video panels sometimes helps and all of a sudden results appears in the video panel.

I would guess that this all might have to do with the reaction time PD expects from the Shutterstock services. But I am only guessing. (I have a very fast internet connection).

The other thing is, that I often get unexpected results:
-- searching for GLOBE also gives me also a bunch of flags,DOG gives me (besides dogs) clouds and a beach.... etc. etc.

Still happy with this extra and free service, but very annoying that it does not (always) work...

I wonder whether this is me or you have noticed this too?

(I have reported this to CL)
This sort of confirms my earlier observation that PD may delete project files on its own accord. I have tried to replay what you describe, but cannot see anything wrong in the behavior of PD.
When you write, it seems to delete the file in the new location”, what does that mean? Is the file gone when you try to locate it with (e.g.) the Windows file explorer, or does it vanish from the My Projects Room?
It would be good to understand what you encounter and maybe share it that via a screen recording?
As per earlier discussion in this forum, PD keeps track of projects and project-file locations in a sometimes unexpected way. I have learned that when you know how PD keeps track, its behavior is a bit less unexpected.
What I have seen is that:
- PD remembers (only) the projects it saved and it opened. It maintains a list in a file called c:\Users\%userid%\AppData\Roaming\Cyberlink\PowerDirector\19.0\UserConfigure\ExpressProjectList.ini
- Apparently all only those projects that are listed in the above .ini file and if they exist, are showed when you open the My Project Room
- note: the .ini file is updated when PD is closed, not earlier. So, if PD aborts, the file is not updated.
- note: you have some influence on what is listed in the My Projects Room: remove the project (project not visible anymore and removed from the .ini file), or hide project (project is not visible, but not removed from the .ini file and thus listed again the next time you restart PD and open the My Projects Room).
- note: when you save a project at a different location, PD will remember the new place the project (same name) has been saved to. It will not automatically remove the former project from the Room, so both can together exist in the My Projects Room. This of course can be a bit tricky if you want to work at the latest version of a project. So maybe it is good to remove the older version from the My Projects Room and remove or rename it on your disk?
- note: saving an empty project (nothing in the timeline and the media room) is recognized and the My projects Room and the above file are not updated.
- note: the recent projects list in the file menu is a separately maintained list and may contain projects not listed in the My Projects Room.
- During the opening of the My Projects Room, PD will check whether the files listed are indeed available. If not then it will remove them from the list. This is why you will miss projects in this room when you have moved the .PDS files to another place. Changing the entries in above mentioned file to make them point to the new location(s) may solve that problem. I did some testing and it works, but be careful to do that e.g. without typos.
- I have noticed that PD sometimes deletes .PDS files from my disk that are not listed in the .ini file. This is of course a deadly sin and both unexpected and undesired behavior. I have no hard evidence, as it is a bit tricky to test it, I have not done this yet.
- After you have opened the My Projects Room and PD has checked the existence/availability of the files, and you then change the name of a file and/or move it to another location, when you try to open the project, PD will give a message that the file is broken and …. then will abort or crash without any further notice! This is of course a bug the needs to be resolved.
- Opening a project file from its new location, is no problem for PD. The name and place will be recorded in the .ini file. When media files have been moved, PD askes you where to look for these files. When the project is saved again, (and only then!) PD will know where to look again. (as explained by Optodata too).
There are many more “cache files” maintained by PD. Likely all to give the user a better experience. But when this user is going to change folders and file locations this better expeience service goes astray. What I take away from this is, that I better make careful disk and location planning in advance and do not change that (too much). And when I do change, I kind of know what to expect.
My suggestion to Cyberlink is, to add some words in the PD user manual to explain
Quote Warry - If this pc is a laptop then it would explain why it could not access the Nvidia graphics. Supplying a DxDiag.txt could help.

Thanks for your reaction, Tomas!
It is indeed a laptop And I am aware of the limitations and have given in. Still, these limitations do not appear to apply for other software like Movie Studio etc.
Hmm. Thanks Jeff,
That did the trick I changed the values and it now all works fine. Did some initial speed tests and it seems to works all much faster too. I will do a bit more testing.

Either I have not noticed in 18, or the settings have changes at 19 implementation time.
And what can CL learn from this hint (already given in 2015!).

Thanks again Jeff!
Thanks for your suggestions Jeff!
A) my systems runs with a UHD 630
B) As you know I cannot repeat the 18 tests anymore. What I saw, I dont see now is, that in 18 the 1070 joined in when producing, in 19 the 1070 is inactive. I dont really know what I saw the 1070 was doing
C) That is possible; have not changed any settings, although there was an NVidia update which I installed
D) I think you are right.I will give that a try.
This and the different behavior with FX as discussed in this forum, the question remains: has anything changed in 19 that makes it works diffently than 18 in the GPU area, or is it me....?
(And maybe : WHY is it so difficult for CL to handle GPUs, whereas any of the other software I use has no problems at all.....)
Regards!
That is very good news! You made it work like you wanted it to.
I would still recon that CL should have a look at this and fix it so that it works as might be expected.
Thanks for your reaction!
I did try the profile Analyzer indeed. The recommended format you mention, is not accepted by my software (read I get the error message) even when I set the output to NTSC.
This format (and most others PAL and NTSC) does not work when I set the Fast video switch ON, whereas all DO work when I set the switch OFF.
There may indeed by a related problem (or the same) because when I disable the audio track and do the same test all formats do work irrepective the switch...
It is virtually with all my iPhone 4K video files. I want to do some more testing with that and will share the results (and files when appropriate).
I am aware of the variable frame rate issues. They did not trouble me in the PD 18 vesion.
Ok, I see what you mean.
Even if you remove the last title, the closing transition, the one at the end of the clip does not work. At least not always, correct?
Many transitions DO work and those that do not work in my system are e.g. from (indeed) the Geometric like fade 1 to 6 and Spinning Rectangle. They do not work at the end of a clip (whether there is a following clip and whether that clip happens to be a title, is not relevant it seems.)

I see that there is a work around: If you position the transition right at the end of a clip it does not work as you say. If you click modify you can change the duration and nothing else.
However if you delete that transition at the end and position the transition again fresh from the transition room over the end of the clip and the beginning of the following clip; the transition will work, AND if you click modify, the option to select either Overlap or Cross is back. Set the transition to overlap and it seems to work. Does it for you?

I should think that it is a bug which should be mentioned to CL. There is of course the possibility that those Geometric transitions are meant to be crossing over all the clips of course but still then....
Hi Charli,
I have tried to replay your sequence and it does seem to work as I would expect it to so I don’t immediately see what you mean.
Some notes:
I assume that in the sequence title, clip title, with the transition “between” you mean that the transition is either seen at the and of the title and the beginning of the clip (when in cross mode) or ONLY at the end of the title within the title (when in overlap mode)?
Note that the overlap mode between two elements (titles or clips) forces the transfer to sit at the end of the first element. So, what I see is: title with the transition visible at its end, clip with a transition sitting at the end of that clip, and then the last title.
And, when you click on the clip in between the two titles, you will notice that the outline of the clip overlaps the first title and starts where the transfer starts, and the clip outline ends precisely at the start of the second(last) title. If you click on the last title at the end the outline will overlap the clip and starts with the start of the transition and it ends (obviously) ends when the title ends?
And, when you modify both transitions to be in cross mode, you see that both the outlines of the transitions overlap both the end of the element and the start of the next element.
Maybe try both overlap and cross mode to see whether the behavior you expect shows?
But otherwise it is a good idea to make a screen shot of your timeline, share that and tell us what the behavior is you would expect?
With my first real projects with PD 19 I try to produce with some iPhone 4k 60 fps files. Now with the Fast Video Rendering technology on and set to Intel Quick sync video, most of the output formats I have tried to produce with end with the error message:
“Production unsuccessful. Please ensure that your Graphics Card driver is up to date, and update to the latest version of Windows Media Player. You can also try to output the production in a different video format”
With the fast rendering ON, I have not seen this message in any of the previous PD versions, before.
I have all drivers and media players (is that for the codec??) up to date. I have tried different video formats but many give the above error message and only a few work fine like : H.264 640x480/25p (I work with PAL) and also H.265 and MPEG2 1920x1080/50i (25mps), but they take for ages. (And in PD18 my GPU a 1070 happily joined in, but in PD 19 not anymore).
It works with that Fast Video Rendering OFF. If it works, the rendering is very slow. But that has been mentioned here before.
I know that you may want to look at my specs, but this behavior is basically not my system but the obvious changes between PD 18 and PD 19….
I am flagging this to a) see whether there are users that recognize this, b) whether there are any suggestions [not things like pre-conversion etc. one would assume that PD is simply able to process the original files as is] and c) to alert CL to check this (I have also informed CL otherwise).
Overall, I am not so happy with the delivery of PD19 like this. Of course, 365 users have the choice not to upgrade to any new version (19 in this case), but once they have, they are stuck with the (initial?) errors, also because there is no way back. In addition, my suggestion to CL to extend the testing work (this software IS very complex by nature) and maybe involve end-users at some stage. I would be happy to participate, as long as there is some way to use the old version along for the production work that must go on.
