You could see the youtube video ?
With h264 this is to be expected with modified short clips ?
I need to produce to WMV, MPEG2, or DVI ?

Hello
I recorded it.
I'm showing a part of the edited music video clip between second 48-52
3 deleted frames pop up
https://youtu.be/M9I9aekzESs
At the end I show the settings I put for the produce and the mediainfo of the original file.

Hello
I am editing a movie clip.
I keep all the audio but removed parts of the video.
As a test I produced 30 seconds of it but in the output file, frames are shown that I deleted in the edit.
I did notice that powerdirector doesn't totally remove deleted frames because I am selecting a very short clip (both before and after have been deleted). I play the short clip and it automatically goes back to the beginning just as I want BUT the image/frame it shows is one I removed.
Let's say I there are 9 frames.
a1 a2 a3 b1 b2 b3 c1 c2 c3
I keep only b1 b2 b3
When clicking on this clip and playing it, it goes back to the beginning but it doesnt show b1 but a3.
Maybe this is linked to my problem, it does show that powerdirector saves frames on the timeline that have been deleted even though they can't be seen on the timelin..
Any help is appreciated

Hi,
Which version of PDR17 are you using?
If I understand your issue correctly, on PDR17 2514.2 you can select contiguous clips by using the shift key and select, or non-contiguous clips by using the ctrl key and select.
The Tools>PowerTools>VideoSpeed should work fine on all selected clips.
If you select a range that includes an image file then the Tools etc. option will not be open to you.
Cheers

I don't know which version I have but it must be the latest I just installed it a few days ago on a new pc.
When using the shift and/ ctrl keys to select multiple keys, the videospeed can indeed be used but the window doesnt pop up (it does pop up when only having one clip selected). That window gives acces to select a range which is what I want. I want to select a range of two clips so that I can preview it in slower speed. The range I want to preview is always right at the intersection of both clips. I want to view it in slower speed to really see if both clips fit together.

Hello
I know that I can select a clip and then go to tools>power tools>video speed.
A window will pop up letting me choose the speed for the whole clip or a range of the clip.
How can I do the same for either two clips or a range of the two clips ?
I would want to see how two clips fit together and the most important moments are right at the intersection where I put the two clips together.
If I select a range on the timeline the tools option doesnt have power tools and video speed included.
And if I select two clips then the window doesnt pop up that lets me choose either the whole clip or a range.
I would want to see previews in slower speed around the intersections of two clips.
Thanks

Then use the orange range markers on the side of the scrubber to set the playback range of interest. "Movie" mode will then play the range and return to the beginning of the range.
Jeff
Thanks a lot Jeff

Watch in "Movie" mode vs "Clip" mode, icons below preview window or set in pref > Editing.
Jeff
In movie mode it doesnt stop automatically at the end of the clip. It continues and then I have to pause and go back.
It's a detail but still..

The second post is correct. The combine only works if you split, don't remove anything, then you can combine across the common split. There is no real need to combine or produce to combine into one clip if it's just content in your timeline.
Jeff
What if I'm trying to watch both clips as one ?
|
|
Hello
I removed some parts of a scene by using split and delete. Now I want to merge these two clips together.
I found an article that says use CTRL and click on both clips which I did and then right click on any to click on combine.
The combine is not available.
I found a second forum post from 2008 in which someone writes that this is not possible. I have to produce those two clips and then import them back in...

|
Thanks a lot sir !
I'll see how it goes for the remainder of this song and other ones.

If I split the left side any more to the right it's very hard to tell if I'm missing the very beginning of the sound of the word.
The second screenshot is the closest zoom available. I am missing parts of the right side like this but I'm pretty sure the beginning sounds of the word are not there.
The word is "invincible". In that clip I can hear "INVI" (the "IN" and the start of "VI")
I can be precise to an approximation of 5 frames this way.. I would want to add images/scenes to existing songs including music without voices such as classical music. I would like to be able to be ultra precise. If that is not possible with PD maybe another video editor would suit me better I still have a week before the end of the 30 day refund.

I'm sorry that I don't seem to be able to help. In my screenshot with the waveform, that's actually a song and there are usually clear visual indications of indidual notes, especially if there's a rhythmic beat. When you say the waveform is "all over the place" that implies that you're not looking at the right scale to see the patterns.
I also don't understand why you wouldn't hear the audio in the slowed down clip, unless you slowed the clip by more than half. The audio is always removed when the clip is sped up by more than 2x or slowed down more than half.
If you could take a screen shot of your timeline that might help. Use the Alt + PrntScrn keys to copy the whole window, or if you have Win10, you can hold down Winkey + Shift + S and then drag a rectangle around the specific area you want to capture. Next open Paint and paste the screenshot, then save it somewhere you can find it. When you reply here, use this button to attach the saved image.
As I mentioned earlier, there's no reason you can't try manually placing your scene approximately at 1:09, then set the preview quality to Normal so you reduce any previewing lag, and just so how it lines up. In all honesty, whatever time you may have wanted to save by slowing down the preview has long been eclipsed by the time we've spent on the forum.
I did slow down to the max. 50% slow is not enough to be very precise.
I didn't want to win time (in real life) by slowing it down, I'm trying to find the closest frame to the beginning of a word in a song. I thought that by slowing it down alot I would be able to hear when the word is said so that I could input the start of a scene there.

|
The audio is a song. There's waveforms all over the place.
There has got to be a way. How else can someone add a scene or image at a specific audio "time".
If I slow down the video scene, the audio is not heard even when I go in the settings and click on keep audio (and keep audio pitch).
|
|
Thanks this is useful but still I can't do what I want. I need to put a scene that starts at a certain word during the audio track.
Is there a way to playback a certain video and audio segment in slower speed ? I can tell it's around the 1m09s but i'd like to know exactly which frame I should put the beginning of the scene.
|
|
Hello
How can I playback a certain audio segment in slower speed ?
I want to play that audio segment much slower so that I can find where exactly the beginning of a certain word is said.
Maybe there is another way to do this. With the video aspect it's easy, I just click next or previous frame.. How about the audio part ?
Thanks

Hello
How can I preview only a part ? Preferably it loops by itself and even better I can watch it in slower speed.
Certain parts are like 5 frames long and I would like to preview them in a loop to observe and see if I remove, keep or change them..

Someone wrote this years ago on the Adobe forum:
"A sequence time-code setting of 24 only means that the system will count from 0 to 23 and then starts the frame count over again. It doesn't indicate the actual time-base of the material"

Then import true 24fps source and drop it in the timeline. If you produce that to 23.976fps output, output will be 23.976fps. If you produce that to 24fps, it will match input in this scenario and be 24fps.
You can easily verify with MediaInfo if you have doubts.
Jeff
MediaInfo only tells me when the file is produced. Not during the timeline.
I have a hard time to believe that 24FPS preference in the timeline will keep a 23.976 clip intact in 23.976
23.976 is just hard to edit..
23.976 frames in one second. But 24 is easy. ,And why would they write 24 ? Not have the option 23.976 AND 24 FPS
I'm thankful for your answers though Jeff

If you want true 24fps produced output, then in the custom profile setup, set 24, not 23.976 as in attached pic.
Jeff
I meant in the timeline.
Because you wrote that in the timeline 24FPS is 23.976 FPS ?
So I am asking what if someone wants true 24FPS in the timeline
|

Quote
When pref is set to "24 FPS (Film)", the timeline is being displayed at 23.976fps. It's left to the editor to adjust what produce profile they want to use, at which time the frame transformation will be done for non-matching source.
Jeff
24 FPS (Film) = 23.976 FPS ?
What if someone wants 24 FPS and not 23.976 ?
I'm just verifying to make sure
