I want PD to open as it always did but now with 18.6 when I start PD it always gives me this annoying "Media Content / Color Board/ Background Music / Sound Clips" column, which can be clicked away to the left, yes, leaving more room for the clips - the thing is, I want PD to start and stay that way, I sure don't want to click away this column each and every time I open PD!

Also, I'm not interested in this red "Shutterstock" rectangle - can I delete that or just make it go away? It's so annoying with its bright red color.

And if all that can't be fixed: How can I revert or roll back to 18.3, please?

Thanks in advance!
Quote This post has more detail on why the duration is fixed and offers some ideas as to how the limitation can be overcome.

Thank you very much! I thought so..... Another BIG negative point about PD... more like a toy than a tool.... sigh....
Case in point: The "Terrific Typography" title from Travel Pack 3...

Very nice animation, the swaying palms, the rotating circular graphics.... alas:

Apparently it's not possible to make it just stay after it's on the screen and continue moving while all the text credits appear and linger there for everybody to read! After 9 seconds they just vanish and start to appear again... and again....

Now: There is an "Edit in Particle Designer" option (right-click on the greenish particle 'bar' below the window) with an interesting-sounding drop down menu called "Life" with options for "After Particle Life Ends": "Loop Playback / Freeze on First/Last Frame / Stop Playback". 50000 seems to be the highest possible Life value .. aka 9 seconds. Really?! So the best I can apparently do is to opt for "Freeze on Last Frame" so after 9 sec. it freezes but at least stays on the screen...?

All I want is for the animations to just continue doing what they're doing until I decide the credits have stayed there long enough and I can begin my movie.

With animations dis- and reappearing every 9 seconds this "Title" is plain unusable.

Any help here...?
I can't find any .3gp extension option to export to, but since I can import .3gp smartphone videos without any problem shouldn't there be an option to export into the same format?

EDIT UPDATE: Apparently, from what I just found out, you can produce it as .mp4 and then just rename the file ending to .3gp in Windows file explorer and it's accepted by the phone!

(Really? So what's the point of having a separate ".3gp" format anyway?)
Quote Hi, interesting that this is not just my issue. I initially thought it was a cross fade issue however it goes deeper than that. Every time I join 2 clips together this issue arises, I describe it as the audio turning off for a nano second, or a "blip". I've tried several things, including running 2 video-audio tracks symultaneously, and the track with joined clips I muted while the other ran continuously with no joins in the audio.
I've even tried running just an audio track separately as an "overlay" and the audio still comes up with the "blip" at the same time the video track crosses from one clip to the next.
The only way I've found around it so far is to go back to PD16 on an older computer and the audio works seamelessly on that version.
Has anyone come up with a solution yet? I've sent a query to Cyberlink over the weekend and am waiting to hear back from them.

You know what? I actually do have a workaround (until CL hopefully solves this glaring bug!):

--> I mark (using the yellow lines left and right of the white timeline marker), say, three seconds before and after the transition, then I click on "Render Preview" and then 99.9% of the time it's gone! Tell me if it works for you too...
Quote Alex, are you just moving from topic to topic, spamming the forum boards? What are you trying to accomplish?

This is a positive forum. People helping people. Interrupting a dozen conversations just to trash the product doesn't really help anyone.

Why not just get a refund (by contacting CyberLink, not by posting here) and move on to another product?

Hi... look, I'm deeply sorry, as I said in another topic (which is basically about the same bug, mind you!), I don't want to be rude or "negative", really, but from version to version I sense a certain growing sloppiness as far as programming is concerned. That's all I'm saying.

At the moment I have several projects running, and every time I get this darn audio glitch!, which wasn't there in any previous version of PD, so yeah, you could say, I was (and to a degree still am) a little pissed. I pay for the product, you know, recurringly (365)...
Quote I'm not sure why your experience is what it is, Alex. But every generation of the product just gets better and better, in my experience.

Not to start any rant or be rude, really, I don't want that (sorry in advance if I sounded that way!), but still: Really? Well then, how comeI read the same PD 18 audio bug complaint over and over on this board? Together with so many basic things that just don't work as they should?

I've been using PD for over 10 years (since PD 7) and had countless discussions about the product, which could be SO MUCH BETTER, if they would just concentrate on the quality and functionality of the basic functions of video clip editing instead of giving us another 500 transitions and 250 silly titles and Chinese Graphics packs every two months.

And excuse me: I am a paying customer so I just want (and need!) a good and reliable product. Is that too much to ask..?
It's just unbelievable how Cyberlink treats their paying customers, releasing (or better, unleashing) a "new" PD version every year, each with more bugs than the last. Why, I ask? This software could be so much better.
Oh, I do, believe me.

I have the same problem and it's driving me nuts since it basically makes the program almost unsusable now.

This bug is getting addressed here almost every 10 topics and still no patch from Cyberlink!!yell
Same problem here!

How many times does this ugly bug has to be addressed, dear Cyberlink staff? (If you're reading this, which you of course don't since it's "only a forum")....
OMG...same problem here! Can't make a transition anymore without a sound dropout shortly after the transition in the second clip!

Come on, Cyberlink, are you serious? Where's the patch? Your expensive software (365 customer) is becoming unusable....yell
Thanks for the quick and detailed answer. I'll try that and post the results!

Quote You can't directly link an object to a specific line of text that's scrolling, but it's pretty simple to use keyframes for the moving object to sync it up.

You can place a timeline marker at the start and end of the window where that text line enters and leaves the frame, then trim your media clip to those locations. If you want it to scroll in from the bottom, use the PiP Designer's keyframes to set the clip's starting position there and then set the ending keyframe with the object just past the top of the screen.

You can have the clip's size rotation, opacity and location fixed the entire time or you can change it at any point (or points) along the way.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you make any changes to the duration of the scrolling text or add/delete any lines of text (not including changing any individual characters or the contents of an existing line), then the scrolling speed and timing will change and you'll need to reposition the tracking clip on the timeline and/or adjust its duration.

This is all straightfoward, so check out any keyframe tutorial if you have any questions on how to do this, and also for more ideas on
what can be accomplished if you're interested in "animating" your clip.
I have an end title crawl and e.g. want to put the photo of an actor, a nice funny object / drawing etc. beside the name (like in many animation features) and it's supposed to "crawl" along with the text but of course at the same speed. How can I do that, please??
Quote As you know, to enter a sub-title you press + and double click in the new title field.
When entering text you can also use the “enter” or new-line key to go to the next line and enter text.
I did not try at length but many lines can be added in this way.
Also using the T button for a multi-line subtitle will enable the alignment field for left, right en center alignment, which obviously is only useful when there are more than one line.
Note that some of this functionality became available in PD17.
Let me know if this works for you.

Warry

You saved my day, thanks a lot!
Don't tell me you can only have one line subtitles. I looked everywhere in the "Subtitle Room" but couldn't find a way to have two lines of subtitles above each other, as is normal in movies.

And also, why is 'Alignment' in "Change subtitle text format" (= the "T" button) greyed out? Isn't that what I'm looking for...?
Quote In PD17

There is a drop-down at the top of the media room (where all your clips are), called Media content. Click on this and there you'll see an option for background music.

Phil

Like I said, too blind sometimes. Thank you so much!
I'm a 365 subscriber and maybe I'm too blind as always^^ but where can I download all those free tracks etc. Inside PD? If so, what do I have to click on, please?
In the library there's the clip with sound intact but when I drag the clip to the timeline it shows (and of course has) no sound!

Any ideas...?

Update: I apparently have to "extract audio" in the library and then drag this audio track to the timeline, that works, but the whole thing still has to be a software bug, no?
In "Create Menu" you can't change or delete the "My Video" text!! It's just "there"...

So you have to put in a new text field with your desired text but in the finished menu screen both my text AND the "My Video" text are visible and it cannot be deleted! How can that be? Is there something I'm not seeing...?
"A bug in PD17" - I'll believe that any day without hesitation! :

Well, thank you so much, I'll try that!

It still seems strange to me that 16:9 vs. 4:3 makes that much of a difference in file size? Also, adding chapters also produced the problem... Without them it was OK, as soon as I added them the file size jumped up. Buggy, indeed...

Quote After seeing your screenshots, I duplicated the same thing and it appears to be a bug in PD17. However, once I set everything properly, closed PD, Open PD, the error did not repeat, and everything is fine.

Your 1st screenshot show 3.3 hours of 4:3 aspect ratio footage at 352 x 576 25fps. Your 2nd screenshot show that your project aspect ratio changed from 4:3 to 16:9. This is wrong and the reason for your troubles.

You need to make the following changes in the Create Disc screen settings with the drop down arrows for what you want to work.

  1. Change from Widescreen(16:9) to Regular Display(4:3).

  2. Change from HQ 720 x 576/50i (9.5 Mbps) to SP 352 x 576/50i (4.9 Mbps)

  3. Change from LPCM to Dolby Digital.

You should be able to create the disc properly.
