Hi Steve,
In relation to this question, I stored the background music also on Track 1. Hoping that the music on Track 2 will override the background music on Track 1. On track 2 I have now my pictures and some video's.
But hjat is not the case.
Now I still have to face out and fade in manaually, every time a video occurs on the tilem line.
Any other suggestions?
Best regards

You may have been close. Higher number tracks always overlay lower numbered tracks. Add your picture or color board to the first track. Make sure it is 16 by 9. Add your video to the higher number track.
What settings do you have set for your project?
Hi Steve, tyhanks for the quick reply.
I have 16:9 project.
I have my project on Track 1 and inserted a particle on Track 2.
I swapped the contents and it works !!
Many Thanks..

Hi,
Just checked the forum, but no result.
As described in the tilte, I am searching for a solution how to get riof the black areas., during playing the movie.
I can add another picture on the second track, but then they are mixed up.
I was even looking for "bring a certain picture to Front",..no result.
pls advice, I am sure, I am not the first one looking into this.
I have PD12 running.

Hi Steve and Carl,
thanks for the quick reply. The solution is often in the simplicity.
It is exactly what I was looking for.
Only.... when the subproject contains a video with audio, I have to fade out the background music manualy and fade it in again.
But again...thanks

Hi.
I have PD13 and , as suggested in the past, I splitted up a large bunch of pictures into smaller groups and produced the subprojects into MPEG2 files.
I will insert all produced sub projects to the DVD, but how do I add music to the final project/DVD?
If I add the music to the sub projects, there will be no continuous playing music ,when I play my burned DVD.
I prefer to play an uninterrupted music file during watching the DVD.
In the DVD, all subprojects will be played after each other.
I hope, I explained my problem clear.
Is there an option to add a music (background) file to the whole project/DVD, using subprojects?

Hi again,
thanks for suggestions.
Sometimes I get pictures with a wrong file date. Eg when I get a bunch of pictures, sent via FTP to my NAS. All pictures have the same date in the file extensions.
In that case, I run the program FASTSTONE Image Viewer, which extracts the EXIF data form the pictures and adapts the date of the filename. Once done , I can sort the pictures in the right order.
But again, when I am finished with my project, I get new pictures which I want to insert on the right spot on the timeline. When I merge these with the original pictures, they will appear in the right order.
Worse case I have to redo all the work on the timeline (transistions, zooming, cutting, etc...) but then I prefer to use the way of working, as I described before.
Thanks.

Hi Carl,
thanks for the reply. I am aware of those options.
As suggested, I use the option 2 as a start to fill my timeline.
Once I have finished my work on the timeline, I empty the library and import a new set of pictures, which gives me a better overview. Otherwise the new pictures get lost in the existing library.
My challence now is the insert the new pictures on the right spot in the timeline.
Your suggestions, unfortunitally, does not help.
Thanks again.

Hi,
When I move the pointer over the time line, I see the file names of the pictures.
However, I would like to see the "date picture taken" when I move over the picture in the time line.
Why?
If I want to add a new picture on the correct (chronological) position, I have to select a random picture, right-click on it and read the XIF date. This is repeated until I have found the right spot.
Is there a way to do it in an easier way?

Hi Tomasc,
I checked once again and now I see a very thin line between the Title boxes, when I move a tiltle tot another position.
(It is so small that you hardly notice it)
I did not see it the first time, but indeed, you can shift the individual videos to other positions.
That is what I was looking for.
thanks

Using PDR12, configuring a DVD from several videos.
I import three videos and these are shown as Title 1,2 and 3.
How can I swap title 2 and 1 easily?
I know that I can replace (move) the icon on the menu templates, so that Title 2 appears on the top of the sub-screen.
But if I select to play the DVD from the start, it starts with playing Title 1, based on the menu structure.
Any one some ideas? or just remove all Titles and import the videos in the right sequence.

Hi Carl,
thank you very much!!!
This is one of the most usefull tips I got from this forum.

and...
if I move a picture on the timeline to an earlier (to the left) on the time line, and place it between two other elements,(the system asks what to do) I get a gap on the place where I moved the picture from.
I have to select all the elements at the right of the gap and move them to the left.
With the storyboard mode, it is done automatically.
But, most likely, I miss something...

Hi Carl,
yes, I normally work with the timeline, but some times I want to have an overview (search) of the pictures.
Moving around with pictures is a bit easier in the story board.
Anyhow, thanks.

I checked several times the help files, but no success.
Can some one advise me how to present the pictures on the storyboard in a bigger way?
Or is it not possible?

HI Dafydd, thanks again for the reply.
a) I produced it against MPEG-2, DVD HQ 720 x 576/50i (8 Mbps).
b) I took 3 screen prints, showing the differences.
- the timeline at 24:21 (plus 16 frames)
Screenshot timeline in PDIR 12
- 2. VLC media player: the playback of the result after rendering in MPG format. The time is synchronous with the time line.
Screenshot same frame after rendering in VLC media player
- 3. WMP : same photo moment, but now displayed at 25: 22 minutes. As written in an earlier item, it is not so important, but I am just interested in the background. How is it possible.
Screenshot same frame after rendering in WMP
- 4. I played the MPG file as well on my smart TV (that is where I discovered the differences) and there is a time difference as well.
It is not a "hot" issue for me, but I am technically interested how this is possible.
I noticed the difference for the first time when I played my draft , rendered video on my Smart TV and made some notes where to correct the result. Then I found out the mismatches...
Strange.
PS. I am not sure if I added the screenshot pictures in the correct way. Hope you can view these. I have no clue how to add these directly into this response.

Hi,
once I have produced a video in DVD format, I play it on bothe VLC Media player and WMP.
I noticed that the time, shown, is differnt from each other.
Eg, a certain scene is played in VLV after 28: 26 and in WMP after 27: 44
To be honest, i don't care as long as the result is OK, but i am just curious...

Hi,
if a look at the time line (in edit mode) on a certain time (e.g.) 5:00 minutes, and I watch at the video after production, I see a large difference in times:
the picture on the time line at 5:00 minutes appears in the production video at 5:27 minutes and
a picture at 10:00 in the edit mode appears in the production video after 10:38 minutes.
I have no transistions yet, no background music, just a first draft pictures and videos on the time line.
Can some one explain??

I noticed that the spaces between the pictures are black. Fine for the moment, but how can i change the background?

Hi Playsound,
thanks for the quick reply.
It helps a lot and I understand the "trick".
