Just a quick question.
Is the original file resolution 1080p24 or 1080p29.97?
Perhaps posting mediainfo for the original file might be helpful.

Just did a quick test with 28Mbps 1080p60 clips and can confirm.
But then having 70 HD clips and 90 mins in one single project is ambitious in my mind. I try to chop up my projects to 10-15 mins and then combine later.

OK... for the old hands, is it worth responding
No. I opened several tickets for PD7 and got no where.
As Jeff said, Dafydd seems to do a great job of keeping Cyberlink aware of the major problems raised in this forum. It does however take ages to get things changed, hence the multitude of workarounds developed by many of the regulars here.

Out of interest, what is the result if you use CPU rendering?

Have you detected any glitches with burning project in AVCHD at 1920x1080P? When I did that I could see lots of frames dropped and hence the jumpy movie playback.
Is this due to changing frame rate? AVCHD 1080P preset is for 23.976fps. Are you using 29.976 and seeing conversion effect?

But there are also good news:[/b][/color]
- The quality of the encoder is far better than the old one used in PD8
I concur. My biggest gripe about PD7 was the poor rendering of AVCHD. I spent many hours making work arounds and I was very vocal on the forum to improve things with cyberlink. They said things would improve but never did ...until now.
I have done multiple renders using reference clips as part of my evaluations of different NLEs and I have to agree PD9 has got a better solution than previous.
I personally am now not really fussed not having a fully functional SVRT as the rendering in AVCHD has improved considerably.

Thanks for this tip, saves having to burn to a physical media if you just want to store and mount ISO on your HTPC!
It is not just that but also the Burn module in PD has been always a bit flakey. I always "burn to folder" then use a third party application to burn to physical disc. Much more reliable results.

Does this mean you can import and edit DivX but not export?

Unfortunately it only works if you stay in Movie mode; once you click on an individual clip it reverts to clip mode and a single click anywhere on the timeline will result in clip mode.
I use the hot keys (page up/page down) to toggle back to movie mode.

No you cannot bump up the max bitrate. I think it is aimed at the newer AVCHD specs of 1080i @ 24000 Mbps (eg canon/sony).
Good News! You can "manually" edit the profile and push up the Bit Rate - I've set mine as an average of 25Mbps and a Max of 28Mbs - may need some fine tuning and playing but apart from the SVRT bug it will now Smart Render my higher bitrate files!
Thanks for the tip. With PD7 I used to do all sorts of hacking to overcome the annoying limitations of the programme but haven't bothered with v9 yet.
I used average 28000 and max 32000 to closer resemble the limits of the TM700. I rendered a 10 min project again and the average video bitrate jumped from 20 Mbps to 24 Mbps. Whether I will see any appreciable difference is another matter but it makes me feel warm and fuzzy knowing I have got a step closer to the "no loss in video quality" nirvana.
(edit. just ran the two files through my mediaplayer: untweaked had an average of 23Mbps and peak of 27 Mbps, tweaked had average of 28 Mbps and peak of 36Mbps.)
As for the comments about Cyberlink fixing SVRT ... well I am more pessimistic than Kevin

Another Q has come up (and I can not test with the trial), is that these original video clips can have above the Maximum Bit rate of a Max of 24,000 Kbps that you can select in a Custom Profile. If that is the case will Smart Rendering be lost or can you bump this setting up?
Hi Nathan,
No you cannot bump up the max bitrate. I think it is aimed at the newer AVCHD specs of 1080i @ 24000 Mbps (eg canon/sony).
SVRT is a bit flaky. As I mentioned over at AVS, it does work BUT only id original clips are about 24 Mbps or less AND you don't alter the front end of the clip with trims, transitions titles etc .
I did a short 10 min video with 25 clips. 47% should have been smart rendered after transitions and overlay etc. Going from the W7 task manager CPU graph only about 20% was smart rendered and it was only the clips which had not been altered at all.
That said, the resulting rendered 1080p59.94 @ 24Mbps is pretty good. As you have seen from your results using Mediainfo, it is probably the closest to the original specs of any of the NLEs out there.
PS, you can't use GPU rendering for 1080p60 - just hangs and comes up with an error.
