Is there a way to set Playback Mode to Movie permanently?

The playback mode automation drives me fricking crazy.
After every playback, after every clik it sets automatically to "clip" mode,
and jumps to the start of clip.
This slows me down all the time, cause e.g. transitions are such a pain in the backside to make because of this.

So, s there a way to set Playback Mode to Movie (semi)permanently?

Hi Spiral,

the answer is no, BUT, if you double click anywhere in the timelines, it will revert to movie mode

That is such a great tip Robert!

So my question is.....and I am not sure how it works exactly.....You can set PLAYBACK MODE to either Clip Mode or Movie Mode....which is found at the top of the open application. Is it intended to make it a default setting of some kind? Or is it just another way to select clip mode or movie mode....as found as buttons in the preview window.

I have changed it to both settings. I still find myself clicking on the timeline to set playback to movie mode. Can someone explain what the difference is between these two settings?

It is just one of those things that I haven't figured out what it is for.

Hi Kevin,

I really don't know what the Clip Mode/Movie Mode function is supposed to do, because even if you set it to movie mode, as soon as you add another clip it reverts to clip mode again.

Hi Robert, you don't have to double click, a single click will change it to movie mode. This has certainly saved me a lot of frustration during my editing.

Cheers

Robert

Hi Robert,

You are absolutely correct, a single click will revert to movie mode, I think I've spent too long double clicking to change anything.

Thanks for correcting me.

Unfortunately it only works if you stay in Movie mode; once you click on an individual clip it reverts to clip mode and a single click anywhere on the timeline will result in clip mode.

I use the hot keys (page up/page down) to toggle back to movie mode. Panasonic SD9, Panasonic TM700, Panasonic SD600, GoPro HD Hero.

Hi pjc3,

I should make in clearer, if you click on any EMPTY space on ANY of the tracks it puts the preview into movie mode.

I would love to use the keyboard short cut if it was on the opposite side of the keyboard. Being on the home/end key requires me to take my hand off the mouse. It would be good if you could program it to your own shortcut.

Cheers

During beta testing I wrote a tiny utility which fixes this problem and provides a few additional keyboard shortcuts to speed up the editing process. Personally I can't use PD9 without this add-on.

However, the finally released version of the program changed a couple of things which means that I need to modify the add-on utility a little before releasing it for general consumption.

I'm hoping to do that in the next couple of days and I'll probably post it in a new thread here.

They have made it much better since the last beta. It was really a nuisance. __________________________________

I have now posted the little program for enabling movie mode always to be used when you press the spacebar in a new thread at http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/14452.page - hopefully this will help anyone who prefers this way of working.
