Thanks for your continuing support.
Yesterday I Produced this Edit and started the next section, clean. Produced OK and current Timeline functioning correctly. To avoid any possible 'contamination' I deleted the faulty Edit and cleared the temp files.
Should I experience this specific problem again I will post & perhaps then would be a good time to revisit possible causes. Most likely it was something I corrupted on the Timeline and not a system issue; it's been some months since I last used PD. I even had forgotten how to post an image on the forum ... took me 3 goes before the 'cogs' clicked in to remind me that you don't get to see that the image link is actually present when previewing the post!

Having spent a sleepless night I think my best policy is to finish and produce this edit section and start a new edit for compiling later. I can only conclude 'gap priblems' are something do do with entries in this edit.
Don't want to waste more of your time on this but I will post if this issue continues.
Thanks for taking time out.
(Just out of interest I have (hopefully) included the PD14 screen shot which shows this problem)

Thanks for your replies. I will take a screen shot tomorrow to illustrate my meaning. I have been using PD14 for some years so am familiar with the 2 possible operations to delete empty spaces. But it's not functioning for my active project though I have tested it OK by starting another trial project.
My active project is presently small but is it possible that something previously entered on the track could cause this issue? Or a memory issue? I deleted temp files.

I am considering replacing my ageing i7 laptop with one having the following specs:
Intel i5 8250u/Nvidia GeForce MX 150, 20w version/256gb ssd
Is this spec reasonable for editing? I usually edit/produce around 10 to 15 min segments and then compile for dvd burning. I realise that desktop is better suited but laptop suits my facility

PD 14. Sitting on the Timeline with gap selected, the right click shows both of these 'gap closing' possibilities greyed out. This Video Track (Track 2) is enabled. On lower tracks it is possible to remove a gap and move 'All After'. Track 1 (another video) has been deleted and restored but same Track 2 issue.
I created another small project to test this feature and all gaps can be correctly filled so it seems only an issue with my current project.
PD14 has been restarted & pc several times but this function still does not operate.
Any ideas on what maybe the cause please.

Yes you need to rename the file to what you want it to be and save it in the same path for your projects. No it will not automatically replace your original pds file before the crash.
OK thanks. Can I therefore rename the pre-crash pds file to the same as exists in my Project Folder and it wil replace it ... as occurs when replacing 'normal' Windows files/folders

I set User Preference/Project/Auto save Project for every 2 min.
If the programme crashes then, when restarted, it offers the last saved PDS file. If I select this PDS (instead of selecting the existing PDS in my Project Folder) do I need to rename the project or will it automatically replace the PDS file in my Project Folder?

I use the latest version 6, auto updated. Some time ago I asked if this app would include a 'resize' option to enable easy scaling for emailing a lower file size. Any developments?

Hello Ron,
I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with your situation, but does this discussion thread assist you at all?
PIX
Thanks PIX, good find. It certainly does confirm the issue I experience. Rather than try to introduce a 'special solution' I will work around by filing all pictures into the 'Camera' Folder ... can easily then select the ones that I want to Edit.

I use PhotoDirector app on my Android device plus some other photo apps.
When I look at Device Folders in Google Photos I see folders for my other photo apps but not one for PhotoDirector ... I have to go to the File Commander/Internal Shared Storage/DCIM/PhotoDirector to view the specific PD series. Of course they are all included in Google Photos but can't be easily isolated from the other photos that have not been taken/Edited etc in PD.
How can I create a PD Folder in Google Photos/Device Folders for ease of access?

I'm loving the paid for Android Photo Director app. But how can one reduce the picture file size ... typically done for emailing. Of course this can be acheived by a further edit in other programmes but it would be nice to complete an edit within PD.

Contacted technical and they said:
Regarding your concern, we would like to inform you that this issue may be caused by scrolling the screen when you tapping screen.
Tested and they are correct, even a slight scroll movement causes this so I hope that there will be a solution.

Hello Ron,
I have no direct experience of that as I only have the free iOS version... and the screen/buttons behave predictably, with no unexpected changes.
Unless another Android user offers any insight, I'd suggest contacting Technical Support.
PIX
Thanks PIX ... will do.

On my paid for app I am experiencing random Scenery changes when tapping the screen lighting adustment, or simply just tapping the screen For example 'Original' (which I normally use) will suddenly change to 'Film' or 'London' or even 'Ochre'. I am sure that I do not tap the screen anywhere near to these settings.
Installed App Version 5.1.0 with paid for enhancement on Nexus 5x Android.
Is this a known issue? It spoils what could be a really great app and I hope that there is a fix.
(I also have other camera apps on the phone, none of which apply random changes on screen tapping so it is definately not a mobile fault)

My PhotoDirector 7 does not include a Layers adjustment facility ... why is this?
Based on your one line question, I'll give you a one line answer - The Deluxe Version does not do layers; it is only in the Ultra Version.
You get what you pay for. (oops that is two lines.)
Thanks for clarification.
Got a freebee 7 upgrade of my earlier purchase from Cyberlink. Wasn't worth the upgrade ... as you say, you get what you pay for but there are plenty of excellent free photo programmes available. Won't offend by mentioning any names

Thanks for all your comments.
I have been a user of PD over many years, mostly enjoy the experience and have much appreciated the participation of Dafydd and others. There are many excellent folk who advise solutions and just maybe, since we now have Cyberlink directly engaged in forums, there could be an overall gain. Time will tell.
I must say that the new look to the forums is welcome.
Cheers Ron

I haven't been onto the forum in a while but now can see that we have a new Moderator. Does this mean that Cyberlink now have 1st hand involvement in and knowledge from the forums?
Thanks Dafydd for all your support over many years.

PD 14 installed ... completed OK and PD 11 retained 'as is'.
I also installed the Adorage/Vitascene packs though I am not sure if I will use these. Are they popular packs with other PD users?
|
|
Thanks for this confirmation ... I will hit the 'install buttons' and report back.
But why so many files ... surely Cyberlink could combine PD14 and extras into one file, albeit rather large. Good product though, been using it casually since version 2009.

Just now downloading all PD 14 files ... I am purchasing the full version rather than an upgrade. Will first save an external copy as recommended and then install. Do I have to uninstal my PD 11 or can it stay in situ? Haven't used PD for a while but I know I have some special Titles, Media etc. How can I copy these to my PD 14?
Apologies if this is already covered in a previous thread but I don't want to disturb my rather slow download at 4.5Mb ... going to take a while!
Cheers Ron
Just found this thread:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/26865.page
Seems that it is OK to have full versions on the same pc and both of mine (PD11 and now the PD14) are full versions. Would appreciate confirmation that this does still apply today.
