Just now downloading all PD 14 files ... I am purchasing the full version rather than an upgrade. Will first save an external copy as recommended and then install. Do I have to uninstal my PD 11 or can it stay in situ? Haven't used PD for a while but I know I have some special Titles, Media etc. How can I copy these to my PD 14?
Apologies if this is already covered in a previous thread but I don't want to disturb my rather slow download at 4.5Mb ... going to take a while!
Cheers Ron
Just found this thread:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/26865.page
Seems that it is OK to have full versions on the same pc and both of mine (PD11 and now the PD14) are full versions. Would appreciate confirmation that this does still apply today.

Thanks Carl & Dafydd. I had forgot that if I import the boxed product then I face significant local costs (Norway) so I reckon download is the way to go in this instance. I had forgot that you can copy the PD 14 programme files etc to an ext HD or DVD ... Cyberlink offer an extended download.

I currently use PD 11 Ultimate Suite on a Windows 10 pc and am considering PD 14 Ultimate purchase which can presumably work with the other PD 11 'Suite' products. They have good offers out just now. Would you recommend a download upgrade or purchase of the disc set. I have usually favoured having a disc set but this is probably just 'old fashioned me'.
Is there a feature comparison between these versions available.
Thanks Ron

An update from W7 to W10 leaves PD 11 functioning correctly ... I'm a happie chappie

Just to note that my PD 11 is recognised and can be opened. I have not yet tried many features but I think it will function OK.

Looks like its Silkypix for handling these Panasonic RAW files. Pity really but one could always do the jpg conversion and then any final mods within Cyberlink for any special features needed from programme.

Oh well I can at least use Silkypix Raw software which actually does a good job though rather complex. Panasonic 'promote' this software for this camera. However, since I have a lot of Cyberlink product it would have been more useful to use this for pic editing . Not to worry, maybe Cyberlink will issue an update at some stage.
The lens is the standard camera zoom, unmodified. Don't know why matadata also does not recognise it ... maybe its down to being so new. It is a great small and quite powerful camera, ideal for travelling.
Thanks Pix for your interest.
Cheers Ron
Apologies for the file size that I uploaded ... couldn't work out how to reduce it. Obviously ZIP files do not make much of a difference to total size of pics.

I attach another actual file ... viewed full screen stretches the picture correctly but note the 'fringing' around the edges plus 'pink'.
Hope that there is a solution (other than a spend to upgrade!) since RW2 files are not new to Panasonic.
Cheers Ron

RAW files from a Panasonic TZ70 are both distorted and pink in colour when opened in Photo Director 5 making the software unusable. Panasonic files used are RW2. Files open correctly in eg Silkypix.
Is there a solution?

Thanks folks for taking time out.
I do appreciate that most likely it is a commercial (not technical) decision of Cyberlink to state 'not compatible' but this is a very blunt way to inform their long term customers and leave the impression that they simply do not care. A bit more explanation by them would have been what I call good customer service ... maybe this is because its the kind of service I insisted that my staff gave when I ran a business in communication products, but I am retired now and times are different.
Interestingly Cyberlink are replying very quickly to my queries which is not something that I have experienced in the past. As I mentioned, I am going to tread water on W10. I may very well choose to purchase PD14/16 (whatever it may be called) at some time following release.
Enough of my grumbles and thanks again.
Cheers

I don't think Cyberlink's response necessarily means that your programs won't work at all when you update to Win10, only that they don't guarantee that they will run and they clearly will not provide any support if you encounter problems.
Thanks for your valuable comment though Cyberlink are rather specific in their reply to me.I know that one is supposed to be able to upgrade to W10 and revert back to eg W7 if there issues but this can be rather complex. So, rather than gamble I will hold off for some months to see if any others with non-current issue Cyberlink software are willing to 'test the temperature'.
Maybe it is just Cyberlink's way of securring more business but it could also mean the loss of many long term customers who opt to move to alterative suppliers.

... and confirmed by Cyberlink. Great, that means that virtually all my Cyberlink products will be trashed when I upgrade to W10, either on this pc or a new one. And product that I purchased on disc. Nice company ... all other suppliers of software on my pc will or have solved any W10 issues.
Oh, and by the way, I told Cyberlink that I used W7 and checked all software via their 'tester' ... seems that they do not really bother to read what their customers say.
Ron
Thank you for contacting CyberLink Technical Support.I understand that you have the issue related to the compatibility of software with Windows 10.Regarding to your concern, I would like to inform you that PowerDirector 11 software and other softwares are not compatible with Windows 10. To resolve this issue we (we?) have two option:
1) You can purchase upgrade of that software which is compatible with the Windows 10. You may follow the below link to know about the software which are compatible with Window 10.http://www.cyberlink.com/stat/window10-updates-center/enu/products.jsp
2) You can roll-back to Windows 8.

The Cyberlink Tester shows that PD11 is not suitable for use with Windows 10? Also most of my other Cyberlink programmes.
It seems unreasonable not to support earlier softwares when a Windows programme update is released, though I can understand that earlier software will not be supported with updates that actually improve the programme. This also means that I cannot buy a new pc loaded with W10 and use purchased software.
Has anyone further information about these issues please.
Cheers Ron

That's what I thought. I guess that I will find out for real when I move from W7 to W10.
Thanks for your comment

I posted this in the earlier PD version forum but it may also be of interest here.
This Cyberlink answer to my question may be of interest:
I understand that you want to know whether PowerDirector 11 is ready for Windows 10 operating system or not. Regarding your concern, I would like to inform you that once the Windows 10 launched officially, we will update the website with the compatible softwares.
I can only conclude that 'all' products from Cyberlink will need various drivers for Windows 10 ... does anyone know more about this subject? CYa Ron

Thanks for your reply.
I have also concluded that 'treading water' is the best policy. However, the Microsoft pc test does not show any programmes on my pc that are incompatible with W10. We shall see ... others braver than me will no doubt be posting when they have made the jump.

I use PD 11 on Windows 7 and intend to upgrade to Windows 10 when finally released.
Are there any known issues of compatibility with PD ... I am guessing that some PD users have already trialled the Windows 10 pre-release versions.

Hei Barry ... thanks for taking time out.
I am quite sure that all my settings are correct, PD11, TV, DVD player etc. I will await the 'next project' and report here if I still experience problems ... might simply have beena hiccup in the system on this particular burn, though as I stated the MS burner went correctly.

Thanks again for taking time out ... but all of my settings seem to check out correct. I have used PD11 on 16:9 for DVD making 20-30 times at least since I installed it. The DVD that I produced using Windows DVD Maker was nearly 7GB and 2 hours long! The final result was good on a 32" TV but there must have been some serious compression to burn on one DVD. It was necessary for me to burn 2xDVD with PD11, unfortunately with the result that I have mentioned.
Out of interest I also started 'video' using Movie Maker and then progressed to PD. I love PD, it is easy to use and has many good features. I also use Lightworks x64 on occasion ... seriously complex but powerful. PD is much more user friendly for my ageing grey matter!
Next time I tackle a DVD burn I will recheck all the settings in PD and if they are correct then will do a reinstall or just maybe invest in their latest software release ...
Cheers Ron

Thanks for your reply.
This is something that I would normally check and I always use 16:9. As I mentioned the Produce played correctly on the pc. Rather than 'misshapen' eg fat or thin, it was that the video was (how can I say) magnified such that it did not fit the screen so the extremities were lost.
Next time I Produce I will try a burn using PD11 just to see if it was a one off. It was satisfactorily burned using the MS DVD Maker.
