Vhs head cleaning i am ok with - cleaned our machine and saved the vhs tapes, i for got to mention im working on our 8mm tapes, will have a go at trying to clean the heads ... thought i was missing something else etc as the imagery is very clear then it shows me the copywrite etc ... will give it a go and see what happens.
Hi all, i am trying to get my family tapes onto pc in PD17 - but records for a short time - then says "copyright etc" and wont capture my family tapes.

Any one got any ideas how to overcome this ?

Is there any way to access the programme and tell the programme to continue recording - ie ignore this issue etc ?

Cheers andy

Good luck, You can also purchase Cyberlink products online.

Cheers for that, i checked out the UK webpage - there a supplier to the retail shop, so will have a look round, thank you for your input Carl.

Hi all, anyone using on windows 7, i am runing windows 7 64bit serv.pack1 ... interested to see what your views are using in windows 7.
Hi friends, im using PD10 and using ULEAD to capture my 8mm cassette film as PD10 will not capture the tape footage, it keeps saying copyright and will not allow to be transfered.

So using ULEAD, .5mm jack to 3x rca phono to my capture device - plays through ULEAD no problems, the imagery is great, but soon as i then open the file then to edit in ULEAD or even PD once transfered etc - i get the wazy zip type lines round imagery.

In ULEAD if i set to DVD mode then i dont get the wavy zip lines round the imagery.

I download the free 7day trial of Movavi which leaves a water mark then after 7 days it closes, and that did exactly the same, while the tape is playing into the pc - the footage is good - but soon as its capturred on pc - then you do a quick playback - you get the wavy zip line round images etc.

I will try what Tomasc mentioned and see what happens - looking at ULEAD - its WINDOWS AVI and not DV - DV AVI is a option in the ULEAD programme.

So its back to running short 10min clips in different formats for testing.

Thank you for your input upto now folks.
Quote You are capturing interlaced, you are seeing the 2 fields. With the clip in the timeline right-click, go to Attributes and be sure you are top field first. A touch of Denoise may be helpful in the edit results. Produce the clip (or a section) and see if the issue persists in the final clip render.
Most software will flag visual noise as Macrovision, I am assuming you are capturing 8mm cassette and not reel to reel.

Hello Barry - yes - 8mm cassette - i have a section of footage im looking at - the footage was captured with s/w set as UPPER 1st ( i will be trying a section later with LOWER 1st).

I have right clicked but cant see what you mention in PD about UPPER 1st - i can see DENOISE so will trial DENOISE.

From the image here can you see what i should be clicking on to see if my PD is showing UPPER FIELD 1st ?

thank you for your views on this, regards andy
Quote Hi all,
Working with a 8mm home video to HARDDRIVE.

PD wont capture the film as it says copyright but its a family film - so i use a different s/w program.

The 8mm film is played and being saved as .AVI for a nice clear film - it plays good while capturing in .AVI saving mode - nice clear image ....... BUT ....... when played back through s/w or even PD10 i get this ZIP line wobbly finish.

Does this suggest that a old 8mm (20years etc) can not be saved in .AVI mode ?

Image below taken from PD still shot option.

Does PD17 allow you to save movies to usb stick which can then be played on any pc that does not have the PD software loaded ?
Thank you to Tomasc & Optodata for your views and comments, short clips is what im working on, cheers andy smile
my aim is to produce my project with all fades & text etc, have the play & scene option etc, just like when you create a dvd etc .... i did 1 test and the tv said can not support the AVI file so that didnt play ..... i managed to get the original footage playing from the usb but it still had all the bad bits that needed editing etc ....

the manual that came with pd10 does not really explain how to save to usb - im sorry - not that clued up on modern pc etc, dvd create i can do but cant see how to get a video to play from the usb stick etc

scanning through youtube to see if anything there can help ...
thinkning about creating my work onto a dvd-rw and then transfer files to usb stick and see what happens ...
Well hello friends, im experimenting with saving to a usb stick now, never done it before but starting now, using PD10 - as the tab create disc is for dvd etc, im looking and experimenting on the tab PRODUCE and currently experimenting under mpeg4 to see what happens...... gota start some where ...

So can any one tell me ... yep you starting in the right area ... using the produce tab to transfer my dvd work onto usb memory stick/drives etc ?

Yes it does.

Thank you Tomasc
I'm currently working on the idea that the player i borrowed didnt like the MAXEL+R dvd as not had any issues with dvds before and as there is no option listed in PD10 i assume it finalises all dvds and as TOMASC commented: yes it does.

When the disc after dvd burn process is played back into pc - click on my computer and it shows the dvd is full, doesnt matter wether the dvd footage is 1hr long or 30mins long, they all show full - unable to add any further material etc.

Yes it does.

Thank you
Quote I've never heard of a DVD (as opposed to DVD media being burned as a data disc) being created multi session. Were you thinking about mixed mode perhaps?

I simply take my video footage, trim and add a little background music, then simply use the burn option on the create page in PD, not had problems before, did a dvd lastweek and found the borrowed DVD player i was using at the time wouldnt read the DVD but would play shop bought dvd's, so then i asked questions and some one mentioned finalising the disc ?

Now my own dvd player is working again .... i can play my dvd, so im assuming the borrowed player doesnt like the MAXELL DVD i was using.

Thank you to Tomasc for answering my question
Hi, i cant see a option in PD10 to finalise my dvd when i have created then carried out the burn process - i am using DVD+R discs - does the programme finalise the dvd automatically ??

I cant see any options in the setting tab for SINGLE SESSION or MULTI SESSION where i can tick to activate etc.

Any views on this greatly appreaited, cheers andy
Have requested a cyberlink support - just waiting on ticket number reply now - hopefully they will be able to resolve - otherwise a perfectly good programme is dead.
Hi all, as per tittle - cant add background image in create disc menu.

1.create disc tab - menu preference tab
2.create menu
3.top left upper tab ( 1 of 4) : SET BACKGROUND IMAGE OR VIDEO
4.chose image then : OK
5.next tab: CROP - LETTER BOX or STRETCH
6.have tried all 3 options in step 5 - no image shows in work space.

When i chose this option - my image - have tried many images - nothing shows in the work space on the right hand side
