4.7 gig DVD
After having to remove some items to stay within the DVD space available I can see on the CD that about only Half of it was used.
Is that normal or is PD not measuring correctly?
Then, when I go through Windows file system to check the DVD properties it shows 1.43 GB used with no free space.
Confusing

Fussing and failing.
I have several short videos in one project.
I would like to have an equal length dead space between each.
I would like to get the volume level equal on all of them.
I realize I can manually go through each and every one but....
Is there a way to "select all" and accomplish the above tasks.
Thanks

PD10
I'm still fairly new at this. I have a home video that is a little too dark and need to brighten it up some.
I have punched all the buttons and links I could find. Is this not possible or is it right in front of me?
Thanks.

I am in the middle of custom building a puter to keep Cyberlink happy.
I would like some recommendations on a blue ray burner.
Internal preferably but will consider external.
What do you use and your likes/dislikes?
Thanks

And the number one thing I did to improve performance was add 3 additional SATA drives, and keep video on one, media on another, and output to the third.
I can't say as I grasp this. Can you explain how/why this makes PD better/faster, etc?

I plan to pick up an Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 TI card.
Following due diligence I checked Fleabay to see the price ranges out there. While there I see lots of other names attached to the Nvidia name like Asus, PNY, etc.
Are these companies that are licensed to sell Nvidia or inferior items being passed off by sellers as authentic Nvidia?
Very confusing.
Thanks

Got an email back from whoever/wherever giving me a link to download again. Very cool.
However there must be some oblique trick to this.
They gave me a user name and password to use.
Only problem is that it keeps asking for these inputs over and over and over with no end in sight.
Case is correct and spelling is correct.
Maybe their servers are messed up for the moment.
Anyone else run into this?

Yup, did all that. All were corrupt. I had issues with it before I upgraded the machine but it wasn't obvious until Win7. Go figure. I tend to think it was fubar from the beginning.

9.0 3305
Just upgraded my computer. In all the moving around of files my extra content file has become corrupt.
Anyone know where to find this to download again?

Thanks Carl,
That was as I suspected. Been through that file address thing before with other creative programs. Not a cool thing.
For me it's packed projects from here on out.
I really think they should rethink how they do their file system.
With the pack deal I have to go into the file system ahead of time and create a folder for each packed project.
They don't give an option to create a new subfolder to keep each project clean and in their place.
All the packed stuff is currently dumped into one folder and that's just a messy way of doing things.
I learned to download and save the effects, etc rather than have PD do it and not be able to find where they put them.
All this was because I keep a good backup program to a separate drive. Been hammered before. Never again.
Want to save all those registration codes, passwords, etc. securely in one spot?
I have used this program for several years. Never lose your PD codes again. http://www.accessmanager.co.uk/

PD sure does some strange and perhaps unconventional file keeping. I think the Library concept needs some more work. It's way too easy to get cluttered up with items that have nothing to do with the job at hand.
Yeah, duplicate files everywhere. Vista doesn't help matters either.
I found that pack thing and gave it a try. Took a look and all items used were in the folder.
Seems to me that the Packed project is the way things should be saved anyway.
Clarification Please:
In a normal PDS file does PD make a copy of any imported photo's, etc from other places OR does it just remember the file address?
Packed Project: Same question.
Thanks

I was updating my backup scheme and discovered that PD has files in all kinds of places on my Vista machine. I am not seeing a lot of reasoning behind some of it but that's another matter.
I only need to back up my created data as well as things I have added to or downloaded from PD. music, sounds, etc, etc.
Has anyone put together a list of which file extensions, folders etc that I need to backup? Trying not to miss something while not backing up useless stuff.

Figured it out.
Tried a different video and it worked fine.....so time to experiment.
My original problem child was a .Flv file. PD must not like those.
Converted it to mp4 and the snapshot worked fine.
|
|
That's the way I saw it to work but it is not for some reason. Very weird.
|
|
Probably not so silly. I was stopped and going frame by frame to arrive at the one I wanted.
|
|
build 3305
I decided to try taking a snapshot of a frame and failed. The saved snapshot is from a whole different frame. I haven't counted yet how many frames away from the desired shot it is yet.
Is there a unseen trick to this or is this a known weakness in the program?

Actually I did, twice.
Even uninstalled everything with prejudice and started over.
I am see the dialogue ballons that were part of the extra. Just don't see the extra smartsound files.
It's a mystery.

Kind of a strange one.
I have been having PD crash issues with my main Vista machine so I thought what the heck, try it on another.
It seems to work just fine on my weaker XP laptop that I use as a backup in case of a bad day.
My issue is that I can't get the Extra Content package that came with PD9 to show up.
The install goes fine but none of the extra SmartSound stuff shows up.
Looking at the SS properties window I see in the Folders tab that the core foundations are listed as not available.
Seems to me that they should be.
Is there a trick I forgot about or some other download I need.
Thanks

I must concede defeat.
After far too many hours of cleaning out files on the HD and registry, virus and spyware hunting/killing, HD checking/repair, uninstalling and reinstalling PD9 I have no joy. The only other recourse is a HD format and install but that can't happen at this time. Too much other work to do.
I just can't find what sends PD into fits.
Sure glad I got that first movie done for the kids before it all fell apart.
The good news is that this box is singing as well or better than it ever has with my other intense programs like Adobe and Corel.
I will just have to wait for a new computer with room for more ram. This one is as far as it can go.
Carry on and I will read along in the meantime.
