what is ffmpeg codecs? Is it supposed to be used with PD9 64 ultra? And where do I get Quicktime filters? Do I need those too?
Thank you. I will give it a whirl.
I am using avchd and mp4 files.
I have submitted the 2 current DXDIAG files.
I use the ultra 64 2930 version. I experience crashes almost every time I try to split or drag onto the time line during regular editing. My crashes are extremely numerous.
PD9 crashes almost every time I drag a clip to the timeline or use the "split" function. The program has worked fine until several days ago and I am clueless as to what has changed. Attached is a screen shot of the crash and also a Belarc computer config info sheet. Thanks.
I guess the dxdiag file is on here twice
My system is on the compatibility list at http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/8445.page
AVCHD files H.264. The system config is on the thread where daffyd has asked us to list it.
With PD 9 (my system config is posted) on the timeline during playback the video becomes choppy (stutters) and is even worse with added effects when playback hits an edit point. If I quickly pause and release the video it immediately smooths out only to repeat the problem at the next edit point. Some points are worse than others. Simple cuts seem to handle OK unless an effect has been added to the clip. It appears that at edit points the system needs to buffer faster.
I have the same problem and it happens with slo mo and sometimes with Lighting Adjustment. To fix it I use the crop tool. That works fine. It's a pain because the green bar shows up after the rendering.
Thanks for the tip. I should be able to accomplish the same thing in photoshop.
Has anyone used still photos/freeze-frames as backgrounds for DVD authoring with PD8? Every time I try to use a still image as a background on the DVD menus it is no longer sharp. It is very soft. Any ideas as to why?
Today is the first time I asked this question. there may be a few other Tonys on the forum. Anyway, what I have done is render the video serveral times. Each time raising the audio to the max amount. that seems to give me higher audio levels.
Anyone know how to raise low audio levels higher than what the PD8 sliders will allow?
Problem solved. I downloaded the complete 2508 build rather than using the 2508 patch on the site. No problem with the dual display running h.264 files on the time line! Yeah! I had to call the Cyberlink # to get this done.
The video card has 1 gig of ram.
I will do that. By the way, my PC doesn't crash. What I meant to say was that PD8 freezes when I try to open dual display and the H.264 avchd file (any HD file) has been dragged to the time line. It doesn't freeze when when I watch the file through the preview monitor and the dual display if the file is not on the time line. This happens whether I am using shadow files or not. While observing the Task Manager and the moment of the freeze, there doesn't seem to be any stressing on the system. The CPU is at about 70% and the Ram is at about 1.7 megs.

My system is an Intel (R) Core (TM)2 CPU. 6420 @ 2.13 GHz 2.13. 4 gigs of ram and a 32 bit operating system. I use Windows Vista Business with Service pack 2. I have a GeForce 9800 GT video card. My camera is a Canon Vixia HF S100 camcorder. It doesn't seem to matter whether I use the 24 mbps, the 17 or the 12. Nor does it matter whether I use a frame rate 24, 30 or 60. The shutter speed has been set at 60 and 30 will still the same result.
Does anyone know why PD8 freezes up with h.264 files on time line after I selected dual display? It only crashed when dual display is chosen. All other files work fine with dual display.
Yeah, that makes sense. Actually, to smooth out the video, a split second pause and release while on the movie mode smooths it out immediately. So I guess my hardware is fine. Then what you're saying is that PD still has some bugs?
