Hey, I don't have an answer to your problem... sorry! However, I did want to chime in with my own frustrations about PD, and spending gobs of money for add-on packs, (etc) only to find they usually don't work as advertised. I hate being a beta-tester for a program that's available to the public.... at a cost that not everyone finds mere pennies, only to find that "sorry" that bug hasn't been addressed yet. If I could find a better program... one that at least claims to have all this one is supposed to do, .. I'd switch myself. I used to use Pinnacle Studio... but they charged you for every single little effect, menu, etc, .. and half the time the program would crash in mid-render. In frustration, I wound up going the PD route, and have had every version since 7, .. usually always realizing the same thing: I fell for the bigger and better bait and switch, just to become a new sucker... Again! Sorry for your issues.
I wish someone in tech support would address the issues with Magic Style, and Magic Movie. You get options in Magic Movie to use items from either the Media Library, Timeline, or Selected items. It would seem to make sense to me, that in light of the fact that we are given such options, the applied effect would include ALL the pictures you select, or ALL that are on the timeline. I don't appreciate seeing one or more pictures numerous times in a Magic Movie, or Magic Style, .. only to find a great number not included at all.

Hello, Mr. Dafydd Bevan in SoftDeko.... would you take a look at this please?????? PLEASE??? Thank-you!!! Having these options in PD12 are of little use, if they in fact don't really work as they should.
I have found that when I use Magic Theme, or Magic Movie it leaves out a lot of pictures, and repeats some over, and over. I've been informed here that THEME DESIGNER is the only way you can get a theme to use ALL THE PICTURES on your time-line. But what if you have more pictures to include than a theme allows? Do you just add more theme pages?

Also, how do you CHANGE THE LENGTH of the newly created theme design. When I complete the theme, the theme pages change so slowly, it makes the entire presentation a bit of a boring show. If I try to change the time by dragging the right end of the finished product on the time line, it just cuts it off, rather than shortening it's running time. So, how do I adjust the length of a finished theme??

OK... so we have a tool called "THEME DESIGNER" ... to my thinking, it's pretty limited if you cant change the length of the theme you are designing.

I have also noticed that when you pick a template within Theme Designer, not all the themes are available (that are found within Magic Style) to use when you design your theme. Is it that way for everyone???

One more thing... it would sure be nice if when you used a picture from the library on the left side of the screen in theme designer, it would someway MARK the picture as having been used. With multiple pages it's really hard to remember when you have lots of pictures, and aren't using them in the order as they sit in the "library" Items used are checked off when applied to a time line, ... why can't this be done in theme designer?

Jim, .. I soooo agree with you... and like you, I've posted similar words here on the Forum. I hate the annual bait and switch for a Beta version of a program that apparently we, the customer has to do testing on.

That being said, (more than once) ... Some one here told me you can burn to dvd without producing first. If that's the case, what is the producing step for?? Is the "authoring" part of burning to DVD the same as producing? If so, .. why does the pgm do it twice?

You have mentioned Img-burn to me in a thread. If you do that, do you get a menu system as part of the image product? I think I looked into Img-burn, but was concerned about other junk they include with it, .. or possible virus issues.

Your thoughts??
Thanks
Thank you... it has helped with some of my issues.... I'm still testing the software myself. But, forgive my asking, .... but why is software with so many problems made available to the public until bugs are worked out by the designers? Every time a new version comes out I fall to temptation and buy it, .. and am often faced with problems I never had till I shelled out more money. I would think it would make the purchasing public.... valid customers, very skeptical about buying when we (they) are uncertain to the program's stability. Nothing like a track record to either make folks feel confident..... or fearful. ... just sayin....

That said, .. thanks again for all you do.
I don't have your answer for sure.... but I would suspect that you can. Your serial number is generated upon purchase, not after installation, .. so I doubt that it's machine specific. I haven't personally done so, .. but that would be an educated guess. You might post an answer after you try!

Thanks to someone here at the Forum, I've learned a bit about the theme designer aspect of PD 12. It seems that using it is the only way you can get a theme to use ALL THE PICTURES on a time-line. I've also discovered that if you have more pictures to use than a theme allows, you can just add more theme "pages". .... (IS THAT CORRECT ???)That being said, my specific question is, how do you CHANGE THE LENGTH of the newly created theme design. I had 64 pictures, and it's taking about 7 minutes to see the finished product. Frankly, with some of the theme pages "changing" so slowly, it makes the entire presentation a bit of a boring event. If I try to change the time by dragging the right end of the finished product on the time line, it just cuts it off, rather than shortening it's running time.

Also, I notice that when you pick a template within Theme Designer, not all the themes are available (that are found within Magic Style) to use when you design your theme. Is this a bug... or is this just the way it is???

Tony, I assume you are referencing magic movie... and not magic style... correct? there's no way to edit the magic style is there? btw, can you tell me what the difference is? are they essentially the same? can you make a similar production with the slideshow app? Thanks
As an amendment to my original inquiry... today I took 137 pictures, put them on the time line... noticed the time of the entire line (11:20) Selected them all, selected Magic Style "Grid (with transitions)" ... applied the style, and within the first two minutes of watching the finished product, I had seen the same three pictures (out of 137) over 15 times. I see no way, or place to change that, so it sort of makes the whole feature a bit redundant imo. Any help out there??????

Tony, your suggestion may have merit in Magic Movie (I didn't try that....) but I don't see any options in Magic Style, and to me the way it's working doesn't make any sense. .....

Anyone?
I wonder if Pixelan SpiceMaster would offer that? There is a free demo download available at their site. And, as for DirectorZone, just go there and perform a search for it.
Thank You Tony.... I will try that. I think what I produced yesterday to post in FaceBook was in Magic Style. But I did have ALL the pictures highlighted, so I would have thought it would have used them all. (at least ONE time) Have a blessed New Year! You will no doubt see me here again!
ok let's say I have five minutes of pictures on my timeline. I select a preview of a magic style or magic movie. have all the pictures selected,... but when I see the applied ( finished) product, some of the pictures are repeated over and over,... and some never show up in the finished product at all. I want them all to show, that's why I highlight them ALL. Thanks
wouldn't you at least get a preview? I did a complete removal of pd 10 and 12 last night... then a reinstall of 12 only. most of them do nothing. and here's a hoot... even after removing everything I could find in " remove programs" .. (pd 10 wasn't even listed btw) and running the pd ccleaner tool... pd 10 still ran fine. weird!
wouldn't you at least get a preview?
With all the issues I'm getting with PowerDirector 12, .. I'm wondering if a fresh new install will help any. Can anyone tell me where do I find the PowerDirector 12 Cleaner Tool? Thanks
Ok...., don't know why this worked, .. as all the files were in their appropriate folders, .. but I re-installed the Holiday pack 5, and now the PIPS and PARTICLES are listed, .. and available.

..... freaky!!!
Yes Tony... they are all in the appropriate folders.... and the MAGIC STYLES for Holiday Pack 5 work....(but not for Holiday Pack 4) ... but under the tabs PIPs and PARTICLES there is no such listing Holdiay Pack 5.

... and, obviously, none of the advertised PIPS or PARTICLES for H.P. 5 are there individually.

Thanks for trying, though. ..

In light of all the issues I'm finding with Holdiay Pack 4 and Now 5 (save your money people) I'm wondering if you should remove PowerDirector 10 manually, after Installation of version 12? I have both on my system (are the projects interchangeable?) Usually when you upgrade a program, it removes the old version along the way.... this one doesn't (surprise, surprise) Does anyone know if I should delete version 10... should I keep it? Is there any harm, or any thing to gain one way or another?

... (sorry, if you sense bitterness here.... I hate spending money that my wife said not to spend, on a product that doesn't work), and MAN, I HATE HAVING TO CONSTANTLY BE CONTACTING TECH SUPPORT. (especially when it usually goes no-where)

Somebody, .. tell me you've been where I am now!!!
In addition to none of the Magic Style or Magic Movie items working from the Holdiay Pack Ver. 4 which came as a "bonus" with PowerDirector 12 (some bonus, if they don't work) .. Today, I purchased Holiday Pack 5, and PIPs or Particles are listed, (theres not even a category for them as Holiday Pack 5) (as there is for Holiday Pack 4) ....and they are no where to be found in the PIPs or Particles listings.
In other words... I've spent $39.00 for What???? Version 4 won't work, and Version 5 is no where to be found after installation, and rebooting of the computer. Do these people even TEST these products?? I'm paying good money for JUNK! PLEASE DO SOMETHING. I'm wondering what else doesn't work, that I haven't even found yet.

Come on People..... WHAT DOES IT TAKE???????
