In addition to none of the Magic Style or Magic Movie items working from the Holdiay Pack Ver. 4 which came as a "bonus" with PowerDirector 12 (some bonus, if they don't work) .. Today, I purchased Holiday Pack 5, and PIPs or Particles are listed, (theres not even a category for them as Holiday Pack 5) (as there is for Holiday Pack 4) ....and they are no where to be found in the PIPs or Particles listings.
In other words... I've spent $39.00 for What???? Version 4 won't work, and Version 5 is no where to be found after installation, and rebooting of the computer. Do these people even TEST these products?? I'm paying good money for JUNK! PLEASE DO SOMETHING. I'm wondering what else doesn't work, that I haven't even found yet.
Come on People..... WHAT DOES IT TAKE???????

Hello, I just purchased and installed the new Holiday Pack Volume 5 to add to my abilities of PD 12. I thought I would check the Magic Style options using 24 pictures on the timeline. "Holiday Giving", "Holiday Word Art", and "Season's Greetings" creates a 0:5:27 second blank black item in the title track on the time line and that's all. Magic Movie does exactly the same thing. Neither one create ANYTHING.
Also, the "Interactive" Magic Style does absolutely nothing at all. (not even the 5 second item on the Title track) So, to summarize, at least four of the Magic Style, Magic Movie options are worthless. Is there a fix???
Why are long term customers of these programs used as Beta Testers??? I hate spending money for products that are filled with flaws. Just sayin.....

I understand how to do all of that.... I was a computer tech for six years. And I can't go get it again without paying again....I already have it on my hard drive ...but I don't think the file is called that, and I want to be sure to install the correct file. What is the name of the file...that's my question. Thankyou...and no attitude is intended.

Hello, .. I've had numerous versions of PowerDirector over the years, .. and, as a result, bought many of the creative design packs that are offered. On one of the animated DVD menus that apparently came with the "Holiday DVD Menus Pack Vol. 2", my video project is playing on top (as in front of) the animation. I thought I'd totally remove it, and do a reinstall, but all the file names are really wierd. Does anyone either know why this is happening, how it can be fixed.... or the name of the file, so I can uninstall and reinstall the Holiday Menu Pack Vol. 2.
Thank You!

Jim you say mpeg .... would that be 2 - or 4?
|
|
Jim THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU! ....obviously, I was in the wrong "preview" area. I couldn't actually drag the little gold triangle... but if I let it play to the area I want to show, .. pause, then hit the button that says "set the current frame as the title thumbnail" it worked! And guess what, .. even PD tech support told me that it wasn't possible to change what shows there... so YOU are the man in my book! ....
And... since you ARE... what SPECIFICALLY PLEASE are your suggested settings for the best quality output (widescreen) And, I assume you suggest producing prior to creating the disk so you can make such selections? Does doing the "produce" operation MANY times reduce the quality of what's on the timeline?? I've tried about everyway (mpeg2, mpeg4, AVC) possible and they all look like crap in the preview window ater the Production operation finishes.
Oh, and one more... what is "Authoring" ... is it different than producing?
Thanks again... and God Bless!

I hate to keep bugging you...but what program did you edit it with....still seems odd that you can't pick what section of the movie shows in the window.. If you have followed this entire thread...
About 13 responses ago I posted for you how to do it, did you try it? What did not work?
Jeff
Jeff, I looked at what you said... the only way I see ANYTHING there other than start and stop is to repeatedly hit play, and pause several times. Then the only markers that show are the chapter markers in the movie. Unless I'm missing something... or the program is....
Here is a screen shot of what I'm talking about.

I understand that Jim....I mean, where does PD store them on the hard drive.... Question 2 wasn't the tree outline transparent already? Otherwise how would the clip be visible at all?

Wow James, ... where did you find that image? cant find the location of the menu files. I have one animated menu that somehow has my video playing in on top (as in front... i.e. front layer) and I don't know how it got there... or how to fix it.
by the way, one person (back in a inquiry in 2012) said you can adjust what plays in the root menu window by playing the preview and at the bottom left will be little triangles to adjust what plays there. It isn't there in my program... if I start and stop the preview enough, I will get the chapter markers to show... but that's it.

....ok so i assume that means you dont skip the produce tab, and go on to Create disk tab. But which resolution should I use?
24p ... 60i ... does that matter? I notice in the AVC mode I have the options of 16, or 24, or 28 mbps.... more confusion. Thanks

In trying to make this home dvd, which production format should I use to make the highest quality dvd? MP4, MP2? what what settings? I want a finished product that will play on the most dvd players. Don't I have to "produce" before I go to create disk mode? I've tried both, but skipping the produce tab, and going on to create disk, I get no options for quality. Does any of those options in the produce section have a bearing on the finished output? Thanks

Here is a screen shot of one of the holiday menus.... note the WB cartoon logo showing in the middle.... that logo appears :33 seconds into the video... I have added additional material in the thought that it would pick something else to show there instead of what is there now. Nothing has made a difference, so far.
|
|
here is a screen shot of the timeline. I see the Cartoon logo I don't want showing is at the :33 second mark
|

thats a great idea....but it will only accept 10-99 seconds. I have inserted additional material at the beginning of the time line, but it still picks the exact part of the video I don't want shown. I don't know how it determines what specific part of the video it shows there. You get the option when setting up chapters to pick what shows in the chapter windows. I don't understand why you cant choose what shows in the Root menu window. Thanks for trying, though.

Thank you sir.... but that isn't the video I'm referring to. It is what is playing in the little video preview box of the root menu. I have tried what you suggested.... and it only replaces the animated menu template with the video clip I import. I don't care that the video preview is there.... but how do I change WHAT it is showing. And you said I don't have to produce (render) it first? I have always done that... and was never overly thrilled with the finished burned product. I'm making a video of a church small group Christmas party from last year, .. to be given out at this years party this upcoming Friday night. About 10 seconds into my timeline is a cartoon, .. and it's that cartoon that is always showing in the root menu preview window. I want the cartoon to be a surprise, and the menu has given it away before we actually start the video. Hope this is more clear. Thanks a bunch for your help. Thanks again Tony.

I have done everything I know to select what video is playing in the root menu window. changed the chapter markers... added more video at the beginning.... looked extensively at the menu editor, but see no place, or no way to make such a change. it is always showing a part of my "show" that I don't want seen at the menu, .. but when the show is watched by viewers. In other words, .. I want it to be "secret"
Please... does anyone have a answer? Also, to produce the best quality finished product to give to family, .. what should I render it at? mpg2 mpg4 ... AVC or what? It needs to be playable on most dvd players. Thanks

This is the originator of the inquiry.... by way of a side bar question... does anyone know what to charge for a boxed finished 32 min DVD? The author of the footage didn't know squat about making a video, ... spending tons of time letting it run, pointed at the ground, .. his feet, this and that, so I have spent a ton of time editing all of that out. I know that's not his problem, but mine, .. still I don't want to price myself out of a future job. But it will be labeled, in a glossy full DVD case, with lots of effects, a new Smartsound track for every scene, etc. Any ideas anyone? Thanks

Hello fellow forum users: I am preparing to create a DVD with about 30 minutes of finished material. I am confused about what format creates the best finished DVD? Would that be MPG-1,2,4, AVI, or H.264 AVC? I have never heard of that codec, but in a rough attempt to try that last night, PD8 locked up after giving me a weird video source message.
Without addressing the lockup issue at this time... which is the best quality DVD way to go? I am making a family video into the DVD for one of my wife's bosses, will be charging him for it, so it needs to be good. Thanks

Hello, I have three clips showing as available for putting on the time line. Two I have already used, but when I highlight the last one to bring down for editing, nothing I do will let me drop it on the time line. I can click it and preview it in the preview (working) window, but cannot drop it anywhere. What am I doing wrong now? Thanks a bunch!

Hey Thanks a bunch Robert! ... Sure enough that does it! Appreciate the help!
