Sometimes I simulate a 21:9 aspect ratio by putting a overlay mask on a overlaytrack. In PD365 this overlay doesn't completely hide the video track, it leaves a small border on the right side an on the bottom of the video track visible.
To better show what I mean I put a black color board on the overlay track and made a screenshot of PD365, The black color board is not completely hiding the video on the video track.
Can somebody confirm this bug?

The best stabilizer I know with real perfect results is Prodad's Mercalli 5. Unfortunately, as there are a lot of plugins from Prodad for PD, this great stabilizing tool isn't available for PD. At the moment I use the standalone version for stabilizing in PD, it's an extra step, but worthwhile. The PD stabilizer is very poor, in my opinion, compared to Mercalli5.

Hello,
I installed the trial version of NewBlue FX Stabilizer.
In every tutorial I can find, they say that the 1 step is to analysed (see he screenshot below,
but in powerdirector 365 I cannot find this analyse button (see second screenshot).
What am I missing ?
Did anyone of you manage to used NewBlue Stabilize in PD365 ?
Probably that your NBFX Stabilizer has to be activated/registered first.

I'm discovering following strange rendering issue in PD365. I have a 4k (3840x2160p50) project with 3840x2160p50 footage from my DJI Osmo Pocket. When I render this to AVC 2160p50 the output is indeed 3840x2160p50 but I discover that on the right side and on the bottom 2 pixels wide black borders have been added, or better said on the right side 2 pixel coloms are missing and on the bottom 2 lines are missing so the actual image becomes 3838x2158 in a 3840x2160 frame.
I discovered this difference when I put the 3840x2160 PD365 render into Handbrake, which automatically crops black borders.

It's not my intention to use PD365 on different workstations, but it would be nice when possible. Therefor my original question was how to transfer to PD365 form my old workstation to the new workstation?
|
|
That would be nice, I will keep my older workstation also, just for testing.

I'm planning to upgrade my i7 4770 workstation to a i9 10900 workstation in near future. Is there a quick way to transfer my PD365 subscription to this new workstation or is it possible to use PD365 on both?

The easiest way I found to create a (2) colour gradient background is to use a gradient mask to get a gradient between two colorboards on the timeline. By turning the mask you can change the direction of the gradient and by changing the color boards you can define the gradient colors.

Depending what NB Fx you have in your PD version, the Gradient Fill Pro Fx may suite your needs.
Jeff
I have just the normal PD365 subscription, which came without NB Fx. I also cannot discover any NB Fx for PD, not on NB site or at PD site.

I don't like to go/use external programs. Such a feature should be standard in PD.
The only way to do this now in PD, I can think of, is to use a gradient mask to mix two different color boards.
|
|
In PD you can choose between 1, 2 or 4 Fill colors types Colors for Font, Backdrop and Border to achieve a color gradient.
For a background there are only the 1 fill color boards. Is there also a possibility (or workaround) to create a background with 2 or 4 color gradients in PD?

I imagine that's the key. If so, then PD19/365 is treating the text like a video clip and is then displaying that at a lower resolution - possibly due to your preview quality setting. Does it improve if you set it to Ultra HD? (You don't need a 4K monitor to preview at that setting).
Also, can you check if placing 5pt text on a video track looks the same as on the title track in PD18?
No it has nothing to do with Title track or Video Track. In PD18 I get the same results (no difference) when placing a 5pt text on the Title track or on the Video track.
But I found the reason for the difference in quality in PD19. It seems that adjusting the Font Face Blur from 0 to 1 solves the issue.
I made a total screenshot of 3 different options in PD19 and made a FHD snapshot of each option to compare the difference (result is zoomed in to see the differences better).
- This is what I get when I put the text size 5 on a track and the background on another track, result ragged text.
- This is what I get when setting Font Face Blur to 1, result good.
- This is what I get when I put the background not in a separate track but directly in the Title Designer, result good.
When doing 1 in PD18 I get the same result as shown in 2 and 3, no need to blur the font face.

Have you tried using a different font? PD sometimes has difficulty with OpenType fonts, and you may need to reinstall that font as TrueType rather than OpenType.
You also need to report the issue before anything can be done about it. CL doesn't typically monitor the forum so you should submit a support request here to make sure the right people are aware of the issue.
I tried it also with Font Arial, same issue.
My observations, it works as expected in PD18 but not in in PD19. The only visable difference between PD18 and PD19 is that PD18 has a separate Title track and PD19 uses a Video track for this purpose!
I discovered a small workaround for my issue. I'm making a text animation with a static background image of a map (1920x1080). There are two ways to achieve this.
- Putting the background image on a upper track (track1) and the overlaying text on a lower track (track2), this option gives a raged text output.
- Putting a text on the upper track and import the background image directly into the Title designer, this option gives a crisp text result and needs only one track to achieve.

Must be a quality bug in PD365, when I do the same in PD18 I get a crisp text.
Annoying bug, I'm still not able to get a crisp and sharp text in PD365.
To show the difference I made a short project with text in PD18 and made a snapshot of it with PD18.
Then I opened this project in PD365 and made again a snapshot.
Compare the difference! I hope this bug will soon solved because it's really annoying.

I'm glad you could confirm my issue. I also don't have a 4k monitor.
Actually my FHD project (1080p50) is setup with 4k footage (2160p50 from Osmo Pocket).
Never saw such ragged text before, didn't check if it's just the Font, it's size or PD365.

I even checked here using your image as a background, same thing.
I think that using this size 5 you should get a better result on a 4K monitor and “maybe” you need to change the preview resolution to Ultra HD as well.
I don't have a 4K monitor to confirm.

Are you judging the sharpness of the text in the Preview window or in your final output?
Hi Steve, the screenshot I made, is a snapshot taken from the preview (at FHD). The final output looks even a little worse.

Sometimes PD365 is mixing up the icons in the libraries. As an example the transition icons shows the Overlay icons instead. How to avoid or to reset?
|
|
I'm working on an animation of a River cruise, i made last year. I'm wondering why the animated text made with Title Designer doesn't look sharp but ragged. Font used is Segoe UI at size 5. Attached screenshot is directly from preview, after rendering the text looks even worse.

My PD365 is able to smart render my Gopro Hero7 1520p50 footage. Of course when there is a transition between two clips, this part has to be rendered. My issue is that there is a viewable change in brightness (or level change from 0-255 to 16-235) during the newly rendered transition part and the smart rendered video parts. Is there a way to avoid this?
|
|
My TVmediaplayer shows the same annoying info a few seconds when starting a video file, no way to turn it off. To avoid that this overlays my video, I always add 5 seconds of black at the beginning of a PDproject.
