Thanks for your reply.

This is something that I would normally check and I always use 16:9. As I mentioned the Produce played correctly on the pc. Rather than 'misshapen' eg fat or thin, it was that the video was (how can I say) magnified such that it did not fit the screen so the extremities were lost.

Next time I Produce I will try a burn using PD11 just to see if it was a one off. It was satisfactorily burned using the MS DVD Maker.

Cheers Ron
Took your advice Stevek but no responses.

Since the standard Windows DVD Maker is easy to use and does a first class job I will have to stick with it instead of using the PD11 burn facility. The only downside is that I have to Produce at the MPEG2 for DVD's whereas I usually Produce at MP4 HD. Still I can do both I guess.

Thanks for trying.
Good point, thanks and sorted.
I was guessing that DVD Burning is pretty much common across more recent PD versions when I posted.
I am having some difficulties with my PD 11 disc burning software ... seems to either stretch or shrink images and videos e.g. they do not fit the screen correctly. It is not my TV or Player ... both test OK. Is there a 'Repair' function for this without having to reinstall the entire PD software? I am familiar with Producing and Burning DVD's and am not 'experimenting' with 'new ways'. Playing the produced video file in either DVD format or MP4 on the pc is OK.

Because of this issue, I burnt the DVD using the standard Windows DVD Maker and was surprised that I was able to fit 6.6 GB and nearly 2 hours of play time onto a standard 4.7 GB DVD. The quality seems just as good as my earlier DVD's burnt using the PD burner method ... though I am only viewing them on a 32" TV. Does anyone know how this 'extra' is burnt ... must be some kind of compression that the Windows burner uses?

I pretty much only use the User Defined motion style for photo's.
Is there an easy way to make this motion style the first in the list rather than the last in the standard layout.
Thanks
Ron
Have you checked the 4 settings within PD by clicking on the microphone symbol?
I am sure you have but 'worth a try' by me even though this is a screen shot of PD11.

Thanks Tony.

Sometimes, I don't go about it so methodically ... My problem also on occasion!
I also have a project folder containing all material in various sub-folders. Where possible, I avoid using original material eg stills are copies of my master Picture File. But it seems to me that by using the PP for further editing, one can 'delete' a lot of 'clutter' from the project file. Just a thought ...
Ron

I regularly pack a project during editing.

Where one is editing videos which form the major content of a project, is it best on occasion to open the PP and use this editing base start for further edits within the same project section? I am thinking that because the PP only includes sections of e.g. video actually to be used, this would reduce the processor activity on a pc. After more edits one could again create the 'next' PP and again edit as needed. This procedure could also free up disc space ... the original project edits can be deleted because the PP contains all used project material to date.

Worthwhile or not?
Thanks Ron
Thanks Carl.
Yes, I understand that ... there is no sound added yet.
As I mentioned, since I do not have the Project file assembled with PD I cannot make the adjustments there. My question related to which is the best way of extending the video overall time eg:

- Stretch the video by 'grabbing the end' and holding down the ctrl key to lengthen it
- Use the Video Speed adjustment facility with the frame interpolation technology

Either are very easy to do but I can't see a difference in output quality at MP4 720. Maybe there is a real technical difference which should be considered?
Ron
Thanks for reply.
I had to adjust the length overall because the video was assembled in another editing programme otherwise I would have used PD Edit at still level. But I am sure that one of our members knows which is the better method of adjusting the video length; just using a 23" pc screen makes it hard to determine. I guess that any quality difference would show up on a larger screen?
Ron
I have produced a short video comprising of stills and text. I made each of the slides and texts to short in duration. So I want to increase the video length by around 20%. Seems I can do this in one of two ways:
- Stretch the video by 'grabbing the end' and holding down the ctrl key to lengthen it
- Use the Video Speed adjustment facility with the frame interpolation technology

Is there a real difference between these two approaches or do they output the same result? I have outputted both at MP4 720/1280 and to my eyes they look the same.

3D not selected in Preview pane.

Its not a big issue ... just slows the process down clicking all these announcements. On my next project, I will un-click all the Preference/Confirmations to see the effect during editing.

Thanks folks for taking time out.
Ron
Like this!
Thanks for advice Carl
Ron
On PD 11, I mostly use the 'User Defined' Magic Motion for stills adjustments. However, each time a message comes up:
'In the Magic Motion Designer, 3D mode is disabled and all applied effects are ignored'
Can this message be stopped ... can't see it under 'Preferences/Confirmation'.
Is it possible to 'move' the 'User Defined' to be the first selection in these Magic Motion options?

Also ... how do I insert a jpec into a PD Forum post Under Img above, it seems that I have to set up some kind of web access?

Thanks
Ron
Sorted, thanks Carl.

Interestingly the removal of PD10 using the Control Panel leaves PD10 Folders in C/Programs so it is not a clean uninstall. I guess that there are comments about this in the Forum so I will go Search for info about this.

There would be no purpose for me to retain PD10 on my pc. I can't open PD11 projects in PD10 and if PD11 ever fails I have the disc option to reinstall or even to upgrade to PD13 (or will it be 14?). But yes you are right ... its difficult destroying what's paid for but I have the advantage of having lived in 3 countries so its been necessary to 'thin' my belongings
Thanks Carl.

My PD11 is a fully paid version from Amazon and I have the disc.
PD10 (upgrade from PD9) has already been deleted by me ... I earlier assumed this was a safe action since PD11 is not an 'upgrade associated' product but the complete Ultimate Suite of software. So having maybe jumped a bit early by trashing PD10, do I need the two Content Packs l and ll from PD10?

I have of course checked PD11 is still fully functional. Any other purchased software that I install are always complete when they are not 'upgrades' ... isn't Cyberlink

CYa Ron
I use PD11 Ultimate Suite and have been cleaning up my pc of old/unused software programmes. This included PD10 which I originally had as an upgrade from PD9.

Question:
I still have in my Programmes, Content Packs l and ll from PD10. Should I delete these or are they also used in PD11?

Post deleted ... problem solved
Thanks for your input.

Is this helpful to you:
Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet has 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio and 7.02-inch (178 mm) diagonal IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. It is perfect to enjoy HD movies and videos on the widescreen display that has 1920×1200 pixels (323 ppi).
Starting with a .mov video I am trying to email it to my android tablet without video distortion but not succeeding

I place the .mov on the timeline, turn it 90% and produce for .mp4 which is the format for android. The resulting video is correctly proportioned for playing on my pc but gets vertically stretched on the android tablet ... eg people are tall and slim! If I produce in .mp4 without turning the original .mov video then eg people are short and fat.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

SOLVED I HAD THE EDIT SETTINGS AT 16:9. CHANGED TO 4:3 AND 'SORTED'.
