Starting with a .mov video I am trying to email it to my android tablet without video distortion but not succeeding

I place the .mov on the timeline, turn it 90% and produce for .mp4 which is the format for android. The resulting video is correctly proportioned for playing on my pc but gets vertically stretched on the android tablet ... eg people are tall and slim! If I produce in .mp4 without turning the original .mov video then eg people are short and fat.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

SOLVED I HAD THE EDIT SETTINGS AT 16:9. CHANGED TO 4:3 AND 'SORTED'.
Took a nice long holiday late last year to Singapore and my past home, Australia. Complete with a DSLR, compact camera, mob and a camcorder. Next time I will just carry my mobile and the camcorder which shoots good stills and of cause video. Not excellent but perfectly OK for my hobby dvd productions. Very convenient travelling
Thanks Carl.
I have worked out that I can use the Sony Ericsson format eg h264 wrapped as a .mp4. To seriously reduce the 48MB original file size was a bit of a challenge but I got it down to a measly 3MB which does the job on a small screen.
(Background is that I wanted to send a clip to a friends smart phone but my broadband link is rather slow due to long copper line)

Really decent of you to take time out to help
Ron
Thanks Carl ... have never used these but now I know I should have looked ... sorry.

I am guessing that in PD 12 they have replaced phone models and used instead android/apple/windows whatever to differentiate?
Ron
I have been trying to work out what format video to Produce in PD11 in a low file size that can be viewed on android? I need to keep the file size as small as possible.
Any ideas please
Ron
I am probably asking too much of PD11 but ...

Mostly I mix video and stills onto the timeline, adjust/delete video sound tracks as appropriate and add a separate sound track for background music. Sound mixing takes a lot of time, trying to get a good balance between video sound/background music, background music/still pics etc. It would be great to have the background music channel auto-adjust to account for other channel/s sound ... quieter when there is a video sound and louder when no other sound such as when a still shot is playing.

Is this possible ... I don't think this can be achieved using eg Audio Director. I guess its a 'pay a lot of money' for another sound editor.
Ron

SOLVED USING AUDACITY AND ITS AUTO DUCK FEATURE ... but it would still be easier to synch if it can be achieved with PD?
Must be my lucky day
Ron
Hei Carl,

Thanks for your reply. To check what the 'real GB' would likely be, I produced the video to MPEG-2 HQ and this totalled 5.3GB. The total length is 90 mins. The video is about 50/50 video and 'moving' stills.

Last night I made a 'test run' ... added the intro, selected Smart Fix & burnt to a 4.7DVD also using Intelligent SVRT. Hey, it was a successful result. The picture quality (for a 2D DVD) was as good as a normal burn, though our TV is only 32" which would maybe not show picture degradation.

I was pleasantly surprised with the result.
Ron
I have approx 5GB to fit onto a 4.7GB DVD.
Has anyone a good experience using Smart Fit or should I split video at a convenient point and burn 2xDVD
Ron
Can't track anything obvious ... other sound programmes I use seem to be stable. But, since I appear to have this 'PD feature' of lower track auto level adjustment, I'm gonna hang in there. It's great for what I do

Yep, I do hope that someone can advise regarding 'lighting adjustment'.

Thanks for taking time out.
Ron
Thanks for your comment. As far as I can determine my sound cards do not have ALC set. Perhaps I mislead in my post because I am thinking the lower track volume reduction is a great idea! So if it stays on my machine ... great

Do you have any advice ref my other query on lighting adjustments?
Ron
Fix & Enhance/Lighting Adjustment
I seem to need to use this excellent feature on most of the stills that I incorporate within a video even though the original pictures are mostly OK with regards to lighting. Is this a normal experience of users of PD and are there any special precautions one needs to take following adjustment eg sharpening? My eyesight is not so great so its difficult for me to tell if the picture is 'best sharp'.

Also I notice that any sound on Track 1 drops the levels of the lower tracks. When Track 1 is silent the other track volumes increase. Maybe this is just my impression but is it a feature in association with the priorities of Track 1.

Would appreciate some comment from our experts.
Thanks Ron
Thanks for your tips.
Since I am not desperate for disc space just now I will hang onto PD10 ... just in case!
Seems we have solved most issues with PD11 so its time to free up some space.
What folders/files should I move to PD11 before I uninstall PD10?
Thanks Carl for your help on this
Ron
What is the equivalent format (if that's the correct word) of DVCPRO 25, 50 or 100 within PD11.
Can't find this description within the manual/notes/search.
Thanks.
Top efforts ... thanks for sharing ideas.
Thanks for your replies.

After a lot of checking around I have found that these files are associated with a video edit programme that I am trialling. As I understand it, these .vix files enables the software to optimise and improve performance of H.264/AVCHD files in MTS containers so that they play smoothly. And that's what my Sony cam produces.

So I can 'rest easy'
Ron
My pc Video file folders (various video formats) now show a .VIX file associated with each video. Searching the web I get this ... The VIX file type is primarily associated with 'ACUCOBOL-GT' by Acucorp.

Guess what ... I ain't a clue what I am looking at

What are they used ... can I delete them? It is possible that they were created (for some reason) when I recently installed a fast video cut/edit programme just to trial as maybe a value add to PD11.

Thanks Ron
I guess that its a 'wait and see'.
Thanks
Ron
Need some advise please about an editing programme called Lightworks and whether this programme will interfere with PD11. I have just downloaded the latest release 11.1 which includes a 28 day Pro feature trial ... lots of codecs etc additional to the 'free' basic version. It is unlikely that I will continue with the trial Pro version so my installed programme will downgrade itself to the basic version, deleting many of the codecs etc. I may choose to keep this on my pc but will the downgrade effect any of my PD11 codecs etc? I am assuming that codecs are 'common' across various programmes but maybe they are each specific to its own associated programme?

I don't want to mess up PD11 through ignorance

I guess (Dafydd) you will see this as a competitor and maybe 'chop my topic off' but I hope I can get an answer first
