Yes it does. Thanks,

I don't have it but thanks for the tip. I plan to upgrade soon and purchase audio director

HT
You are correct in your analysis. Some of my sound effects are mono. That explains the low volume as they are only coming out of the center speaker.

I was able to solve my out of lip sync problems by producing a file from clips on the timeline with the same frame rate. I will have to make sure in the future (at least with PD11) not to mix 60p with 60i as that appears to have caused the problem.

thanks for your help

HT
I'm at work so this will be my last respose until tonight.

My video files are stereo. I think the sound effects are mono. What I could do is turn down the video audio to make the sound effects louder. Or maybe put he sound effects on two tracks.

I will read your response tonight.

thanks,

HT
My sound effects are mp3 and wave. Sound from the source video is whatever AVCHD files use.

I have a fairly complex 37 min video that plays fine in the timeline but when authored to a bluray disc has lip sync issues in certain spots. My source video is avchd and I burn the disc using H.264. (I have also tried mpeg 2).The video is sharp but the audio as I said gets out of sync. I tried dividing the project into thirds and producing files in H.264 and use these files to burn the disc. But that didn't help. On close inspection the produced files are also slightly out of sync in the same location as on the disc.

I finally tried buring a disc as a test just using the videos that get out of sync. I burned the disc directly from the timeline without producing video files. The video was very clear and audio matched perfectly. Some other wierd things that are happening are the audio levels of some sound effects I have on the timeline sound loud when played in the timeline but are very low volume when the disc is played. I am burning with 5.1 surround sound.

The only thing I can think of that could be causing a problem is that I have a mixture of 60i and 60p clips on the timeline. Could this be the cause of my problem?

Ht
I did lots of experiments and my best bluray disc was when I burned in H.264 not MPEG 2. It didn't matter if I used smart fit or not. Smart fit helped a little with MPEG 2 burns. I burned all with 5.1 surround sound. Enable Hardware decoding was not an available option on any of my burns.

I also burned AVCHD on DVD discs. They were all clear no matter what the setting.

I think you were correct about the grain being caused by low light and not a fault of the burning. I think I was at fault in some of my judgement as to the quality of the discs and I was viewing them at different times and may have been compairing them to uncompressed antenna HD TV signal which is super sharp.

Thanks for your help

Hi Tomasc

I am sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I don't have a Pinnacle studio question. I just want to know if a file was produced in PD with 5.1 surround sound and that file is placed in the timeline in PD or another disc authoring software program will the disc play the audio portion in surround sound as coded in the file. For instance if the video file has a explosion that is heard only from the rear speakers will it play that way if the file is used when authoring a disc.

The other question is more clear. What are my bluray disc sharper when I author them in Pinnacle than in PD

thanks

HT
Hi Carl

I am shooting avchd with my Panasonic camcorder.

I did try the mpeg-2 bluray and it was a little better. But I get the sharpest video by producing a avchd video file in Pd. Then I author using my old Pinnacle studio 14 program. But when I do this I have combined all my audio into one audio track and can't direct each sound track to the speakers I want in 5.1 surround.

HT
I am still using pd11 and I love the program however my bluray discs are never as sharp as when I use other programs to author a disc. They have a mild background grain. I resorted to producing a file in PD and then authoring a bluray with an old version of Pinnacle studio 14. The video is cleaner this way.

My question is does PD 14 author sharper bluray video than PD 11? Also if I produce a video in surround sound in PD and then author a disc in another program will the disc be in surround sound the way I directed the sound to each speaker when I produced the video file? I am planning to purchase Power direction suite so I can author 5.1 bluray discs but I am concerned that I may still have to author using another program. I rather do everything in PD.

thanks,

HT
I want to make a green screen video of my grandkids riding on a roller coaster. I found a few free green screen videos of a roller coaster ride but they are not that great. I also need a png of a roller coaster seat that would likely need to be in layers for it to look like the kids are seated on the bench.

Any ideas

thanks,

HT
I don't think I know how to use the ending credits scrowling template properly. When I replace Actor 1, Actor 2 etc. in the template with real names things get out of align.

Hi Maliek

I have watched your tutorials for a few years now. I really like them.

Since superheros are popular now how about a tutorial on how to make Wonder woman or superman pick up and throw a car or bus or stop a train. I can do the jump off a building and land on the street or green screen flying flying effect from watching your tutorials. Give me more.

thanks,

Ht
I think the problem with the snapshot only including track 1 must have been my fault. I tried it today doing a picture in picture and the snapshot included both video tracks. I am not sure why it didn't work the first time I tried it.

HT
I have a photo on the timeline and would like to start zoomed in and slowly zoom out to show the whole photo. How do I do this? When I use the zoom out effect it starts out unzoomed and zooms out and black can be seen around the photo.

See attachment. I want to start zoomed on the lake and then slowly zoom out to the whole picture.

After I posted this I remembered to use magic motion. No need for help

thanks

HT
I have video on two tracks. I took a snapshot and only the video that is on track one is in the photo. The snapshot labeled Mary and Art 2 in the library is the result. See the black surrounding the picture? I tried highlighting both tracks but that did not work.

Hi

I was just placing two color boards on the track. There was nothing on the FX track. I just tried the same thing today and everything is working normally. Maybe the program didn't load properly. I no longer have the problem. Thanks for trying to help.

HT
When I put a color board on the timeline it stays its original color for about 5 seconds then gets rendered automatically and turns to the color red. It is only happening in my current project. The two screen shots explain. The first screenshot was taken immediately after placing the color board on the timeline. The second screenshot is about 5 seconds later.

I have PD 11 and do plan soon to up grade to 14. PD 11 groups certain things according to the PD version. See attachment. That seems to be an odd file system to me. Do the newer versions have a different grouping arrangement of pip objects, particles, etc that are listed more according to what they are rather than the PD version?

Also I assume I can get rid of all my old versions of PD (I never use them) and maybe only lose what I have downloaded from directors zone. The new version will contain everything from PD 11 plus all the new stuff.

I want to make my own backup disc. I am not sure how to do that. Do I first download the program without opening it or unzipping it and copy to a disc? I think I need someone to give me a step by step guide if that is not too much trouble.

thanks,

HT
In the list of New blue effect plugins for PD 14 I noticed that Chroma key is listed in one New blue package as Chroma key and in another as Chroma key pro (I think package 6). Is this a typing error or are there two versions of New Blue chroma key?

thanks,

HT
When I start a project I first create a folder and then add the media I think I will use. Then I import all the media into the PD library in one step. As the days roll by I come up with new ideas and have to add more and more media to the project folder and then must import the new pictures, video, and audio into PD library. Sometimes I have over a hundred or more clips so it requires some hunting to find the new clips I want to import. Is there a way to have PD automatically add new media to the library that is added to a project folder? I am still using PD 11. Can this be done in PD 13?

Thanks

HT
