The "Rollercoaster" title effect would seem to be able, with a bit of manipulation, to achieve what heavytiger is after.
Unfortunately there's no way I can see to change the pre-defined track.
Pity, because it is an effect that's often seen on commercial films, ads etc.
So I guess it's off to find some third party software.

How long did it take you to do the editing?
Each time we go away my wife's on my case to put a video together, but it seems to take me way too long.

PDtoots has done visually (and therefore much better) what I was trying to explain.

Just threw a quick 3-min production involving stills and video - no problem. May be your system. Have you tried all the other format options? But I did try again to produce it in mpeg4 and got a message saying that this facility needed to be activated. When I clicked OK I got a message saying I had 30 days left. And after producing I got another message about shadow files, and again giving me 30 days free activation. Anyone know what this is about and what happens after 30 days?

Very nicely put together - gave a very good overview of how the weekend went. One teensy thought was that the first evening went on a little bit too long. Liked the photo montages at the end - gave me some ideas for my stuff.

Hi Michael.
I just tried putting 3 stills and a video on timeline 1.
Then clicked on clip one, then held ctrl while I clicked on the video.
This highlighted both clips and then when I let go of the ctrl key both clips remained highlighted.
Then I dragged them both to timeline 2 and messed about on TL1 with the remaining clips and finally dragged the clips back from TL2 to TL1.
If you need more timelines you can create them by right clicking in the left hand vertical bar (with the lock icon in it) and selecting the "add tracks..." item.

That was great "Twincity" - really appreciated - if I hadn't just upgraded to 7 I'd probably be giving 8 Beta a try after watching your quick tour..
Were you able to install 8 without having to re-install all of your W7 programs and settings?
Also, you may have covered this and I missed it, but are you operating a 64-bit system?
Oh - and I just lurved the surthern drawl . Have to get there sometime.

Just a follow on from this enquiry - I recently upgraded my computer and had to re-download PD10 - which went fine, with excellent assistance from the Cyberlink staff..
but then I lost the link to one of the extra packs and could only install pack 2.
Now I can't find a link to download pack 1.
Any suggestions?
Also, do us loyal PD10 users who have been upgrading for years get to access the Travel Pack 2, which is being given free to new users?

I got it from Dick Smith's and the brand name is "Gadget Geek". Cost AUD59.95.
Details on http://dicksmith.com.au/dsau/search/dsau_search_results.jsp?bmForm=search&bmFormID=jubz25I&bmUID=jubz25J&bmIsForm=true&bmPrevTemplate=%2Fdsau%2Fhome.jsp&bmEditable=searchterm&bmHidden=searchterm&searchterm=gadget\u0020geek&bmEditable=search&bmHidden=search&search=&bmEditable=attribute&bmHidden=attribute&attribute=&bmEditable=value&bmHidden=value&value=&bmHidden=searchSubmitted&searchSubmitted=true&bmText=searchInput&searchInput=&bmFields=bmFormID%2CbmHidden%2CbmIsForm%2CbmUID%2CbmForm%2CbmEditable%2CbmPrevTemplate%2CbmText&bmHash=8c25f960734ef8aa78e43b6bfe19b3f3e78cbb88
or if that doesn't work just get on to the web page and search "Gadget Geek"

Bought a new converter stick and after a few attempts managed to get the software settings right.
So now I can save the digitised file and import it into PD10.
|
|
Thanks Barry
I downloaded Movie Maker, but the import screen just shows the disc I have in the DVD tray.
I've hit the refresh button but that didn't make any difference. Just not recognising my device.
Device manager shows that my Video Grabber is working correctly, and I have the latest driver.
I'll pop round to Dick Smith's (Australian electronics retailer) tomorrow and pick up a current model, which hopefully will have some useful bundled software with it.

Having problems trying to get PD10 to import video. I'm using a D-Link Video Grabber (DUB-AV300).
But PD10 comes up with the message "An error occurred. Unable to prepare for recording".
I did convert quite a bit of old VHS, and also some analog video from my old camera, years ago and for this I used some video editing software that came with the Grabber.
I remember that the bundled software was pretty crap but it did get the videos on to the computer, and then I could import them into the workspace for editing with PD.
But since then have upgraded my computer and can't install the video editing software that came with the Grabber (I've still got the disc and have installed the drivers successfully), as I have lost the Serial Number.
After a Google search I downloaded "AVS" editing software, but then my whole computer became very unstable so I uninstalled it immediately.
So now I'm contemplating just buying a current model video Grabber, but am concerned that this also won't be recognised by PD.
Any suggestions?

Just a comment - my own preference is to plug the camera in to the USB port and copy or drag and drop the clips.
I read somewhere that removing and replacing the SD card too many times can wear the contacts and possibly make it unusable.
|
|
I wouldn't mind seeing some integration with the photo editing software - might make me stop using Adobe Elements.
Would be nice to be able to catalogue and tag movie clips in the same way that we can with photos.

Thanks Carl
Very useful and concise

"There's none so blind as those that will not see"
The Title template I was using is titled "Default", and the default wording on it is "My 3D Title"
I've no idea how many times I read those words and never thought what they were telling me!!
So - Lo and behold, when I went to create a new blank 2D title the justificaton box appeared again.
So once more I'm a happy little camper.
Just one more thing - how do you add a screenshot (or a video or any other file) to a message on the forum?
I've made the screen shot and reduced it to about 80kb but can't see an "add file" button anywhere.
Anyway, many thanks for all your help guys.
Love youse all

Well, I got home and tried to see what would happen if I changed to "Standard 2D Preview" and found that even if I select that choice it still shows as "3D" and still I haven't got the Justification selection box.
In fact, it doesn't matter which of the options I choose, that selection box just doesn't appear.
All of the other boxes on the screen work fine.
Has anyone upgraded to version 1703?
If so, are you having the same problem?
|
|
Many Thanks Cranston
I hadn't realised that the 3D setting would have that implication.
I'm still at work but I'm sure I hadn't changed the setting to 2D.
Can't wait to get home, now and have another try - working my way through PDToot's excellent tutorials.
Thanks again - I'm sure this was the problem

Yes - it's the one fourth from the right that's missing. - just not there and no reaction when I roll the cursor over where it should be.
Was that screen shot taken from PD 10 after installing the last upgrade - Build 1703?
I'm at work now, and have turned my home computer off, but I'll have another look tonight and if it hasn't sorted itself out after a complete reboot then I'll post a screen shot.

I've just upgraded to V10.0.0.1703 and went to edit the text in a new title
And find that the button for centreing the text within the text box has gone missing.
The buttons for font name and size are there, as are the Spacing, Bold, Italics and Colour.
I've tried Right Clicking everywhere but to no avail.
Anyone else got this problem?

Hi Jim
Just played with it and yes it appears that any new tracks will be inserted before (and consequently "below", when viewing the video) the Title Track.
Which means anything placed on the Title Track will always be on top of the stack and hide anything placed on Tracks 1, 2 etc.
I guess this is because you would always want your title to be on top and not hidden by the other tracks.
But you can place a Title on any of the other vdeo tracks, as if it's an ordinary film clip.
