If you join the SEEMYWORLD site, you can download a program that may open and convert your file. It is located on the page EXTRAS.
Near the top of the editing interface is a drop-down menu. It probably says "all media". Click on it.
This is useful if you are looking for a clip or photo, or music, it won't display the other file types.
One of the choices is "colorboard". These are blank colored files to place wherever you wish. Useful for many things, as you will find.
I did not find this function for some time.
Place a CB into the upper timeline, and add chapters to it.
Hello, welcome.
1st. always say what version PD you are using, especially for newbies.
2nd. mention OS
that's all.
Now, you need to put something in the regular timeline, even if you do not see it in the final video. An empty .png file, or a color board.
You can add the chapters to that, even if you do not see it.
Good luck.
No, not your file.
It's not uncommon for me to find a few pix and vid-bits in stretch. I NEVER use stretch. Perhaps after opening and closing re-opening movie projects, doing something else in another program.
I did recently find a BIG clash of Yahoo Sitebuilder (free) and PD6. The don't play well AT ALL, and PD6 loses. Vista anyway.
It seems I am forever re-selecting aspect ratios because the choices I make don't always save properly. This is just one cause of having to render 15 versions of the same damn video, the others being, well, everything else, including me, Mr. Oversight...
Anyone else losing the aspect you previously chose?
This is not uncommon. When creating titles and Pic-in-pic, use the tv safezone feature. This will help to keep things on the screen.
You came to the right place, just found the wrong person! Look around the forum, or repost, someone with true knowledge will help you.
If you repost, include what version of PD, and OS. More info will narrow down the issues. did you check the Cyberlink site for updates/patches?
Good luck.
Barry
Just a quick guess, look at your timeline. Can you find the end? Did you accidentally place a file that found a home 20 hours down the road?
Also, for a subject header, be clear on what is going on!
The fade should be there, perhaps you missed it. It is at or near the bottom of the selection menu.
You can get a little control by placing the video in the PIP timeline.
Resize and move it around.
Are you applying MaMo to a video clip? It only works on photos, but it's great function.
There are many effects for titles.

Place title in timeline.
right click on the title.
select edit.....you can also click on the title, then click on modify.
near the top of the title module, there is an icon of a little man.
Click on the little man.
Now you should see 2 boxes saying begin effect and end effect.
Click on either and wow, too many choices.
Have you installed anything else? I installed Avast anti-virus and everything s-l-o-w-e-d to a crawl.
You can find old movie effects in PD 5 & 6.
Watch SEEMYWORLD for an example called "Reunion". It will be up tonight.
Use the right music, add a timely old video from the archives,
http://www.archive.org/details/movies
and have fun!
Barry, the knottyman!
http://www.wmrecorderpro.com/wmconverter20.html

try this one.

And, on SEEMYWORLD, another, the Super, should work, but the UI is a bit tricky at first.
If you go to SEEMYWORLDONVIDEO.COM there are 2 converters available for dowload. The Free FLV is the one you are looking for.
Just use Windows Movie Maker.
I know, you think PD should "see" everything, and one software should be enough.
Eventually you will have audio editors, photo editors, file converters, etc.
Video editing is a symphony of multi-tasking, er, is that too dramatic?
Anyway, just use WMM for capture and go on to bigger issues, for they shall certainly come up!
Brian,
I had this problem too. Do your various Christmas effects work? Snowflakes, candy canes, etc.
Oddly enough, they all worked on my wife's computer, an almost identical setup! This was with PD5, when I went to PD6, all was well again.
I never actually solved the issue.
Barry
Hellooo Dafydd,
First off, why do you only have 2 stars?
Now then, the QT is working again. I was installing some new scanner software, also a 2nd anti-virus program, and that Super-converter on SMW. Somewhere something went wrong. Now, all seems fine.
I am using PD6 on Vista. For some reason, the ability to read
QT files (MOV), keeps failing. I uninstalled PD & QT twice. When I re-install PD, it's fine. But upon computer restarts, it no longer can read the files.
I get error...
Media source error:
Powerdirector failed to read media source as a graph.
This may be due to a lack of decoding filters you are
trying to edit.

Anyone run into this? I actually used the files yesterday and rendered them into a video. Now I can't use them again!
Robert,
my my, that's a bit harsh! I was watching Dafydd's video of the air show and wondered if, when the view is from the jet doing a vertical climb, whilst peering down to earth, might a wee bit of shake and rumble be appropriate in a similar situation.
G'day,
Barry
