Does PowerDirector 6 have a decoder?

I generated and converted a movie to MPG. My system crashed and I lost my project and only have the resulting MPG file. Unfortunately I now find (after reinstalling) that I don't have anything that can play this format.

I can bring it back into PowerDirector but it doesn't let me use it within a project to recreate it into another format. Once I click on the video, it states "CyberLink PowerDirector allows exporting edited project to MPEG4-AVC file only. CyberLink PowerDirector currently does not support the editing of MPEG4-AVC clips."

When importing from the camera, I notice the file extension is also MPG and this can be edited. I guess there are different formats of MPG.

Anyway, is there a way I can convert this movie so I don't have to spend hours again recreating the video and also not having to spend additional money with the hopes that it will work. I did download some trial software to attempt to convert but it didn't work (I hope the file isn't corrupt.)
