Surely best use the Pinnacle software or you will run up against the Powerdirector "everything is copyright material" problem
Hi
I had avoided updating my last Nvidia Graphics (PNY GTS 450) card at all costs due to the "render box appearing" problem.
However last week I got a great bargain on a PNY VCQ2000-PB Quadro 2000 1GB Video Card.

So far so good. I installed said card yesterday and went for all the latest drivers from Nvidia so had to update PD10(anti render box tactic) and was happy to see that the dreaded "rendering box" had indeed disappeared.....

However, this problem was neatly replaced by an even worse problem.
When I imported any Mpeg2s into PD 10 their size doubled. ie a nicely sized file of 4.2gb would become 8gb when i got to the "Create Disc" window.
So update 2231 from PD10 was no solution for me.

I burn a lot of VHS/Hi8/Mini DV conversions and this doubling size situation is killer.

Finally uninstalled Nvidia 320.92 and installed 301.42
Took PD10 back to 1129A

Happy to say all is well now and my wariness of updates of any sort under any circumstances thoroughly strengthened.
Cheers
David
Hi Richard
I've had this problem burning Blurays and audio/vid syncing
My source files are .MTS (AVCHD) files.

I have found that in the "Create Disc" section if you select H264 the BD will be out of sync, however if you select Mpeg2 then it is in sync.
Like you I am no fan of "willy nilly" updating of software as I use my computer for work and can't afford to spend my whole life backtracking to a state where it actually works!!!!
I burned a load of BDs trying various options so good luck

Hi Dafydd
I have transitions set to cross as default as suggested, however when I apply the fade transition the following piece of film is always static for a second or two.
Is there any fix for this?
all the best
David
Ah Carl you are right...maybe reading isnt one oh his trades
What hardware was it?
It recommended using another companies software? That doesnt sound good!
Re quality of transfer can you not choose the bit rate/resolution etc on the transfer software?
Whats the hardware/software set up on your Macs?

I do a lot of this and love PD10 for its fast rendering.
Current burning time for DVD of 2 hours at 4,200 bit rate 720x576 resolution(from Pinnacle transfer) is 6.5 minutes
Back in the day this used to take me 2 hours.

I've spent loads of time looking into this area and believe I have the ideal set up

Hi Scooter
I also transfer loads of VHS/Hi8/mini DV/betamax tapes to DVD/Bluray.

I find transfer is the simplest bit of the process and what works for me is to use the software that comes with the transfer hardware I've never thought of doing it any other way.
You mention you do a lot of this work with your other computers. What's your transfer hardware? Use its software.
You are transfering to hardrive no matter what software you use so whats the difference?

If I'd bought my transfer hardware from Cyberlink then I'd be joining you right now in your quest.

My recommendation for transfer hardware/software is Pinnacle its got great bit rate and resolution controls. :

Good luck
Davos
I like it Dafydd
But I think you have had your fair share of bad weather recently
Still don't trust updates though!
cheers

Hi everyone
I take it lots of people have tried the v2231 and it gets rid of the rendering problem????
I always avoid updates for a long time usually as I need my PD10 to work right every day or I get snowed under with work
cheers
David
Hi
its coz your graphics card has been updated im afraid.
Go to control panel/system/device manager and open display adaptors.
open properties(right click on your graphics card) and select roll back driver.
Thats it

Saw your PC specs...could it be the old "100GB should be free on your C drive to produce HD video"?
Dave
Hi there
I have probs when burning H264 to Bluray disc (Bluray only)
I am placing a number of .MTS files (from Panasonic SD900 - HG quality) in the timeline and burning to Bluray. No titles / no music / no transitions
The video renders and burns very quickly to Bluray using the 1920x1080 50i setting (20 minutes to burn a 2 hour video) BUT the audio lags behind the video.

I have tried the 1920x1080 (50i) setting in "create disc" (best video results but out of sync)
I also tried the 1920x1080 (24p) setting - this took forever to render and the result produced jerky motion every 10 seconds but was in sync.

I have no probs with DVDs and have burnt around 350 this year with 100% success rate.

My bluray coaster total has now reached double figures
Would love a solution if anyone can help

Thanks
David

Hi Sailorguy
I also capture using Pinnacle software and then edit using PD10.
I have the USB 510 device which uses Pinnacle 14 and with my older computers with XP I use the Dazzle Platinum and Pinnacle 11.
Very consistent good results....I say stick with Pinnacle for capture
cheers

I have same problem with 1 gig video memory / 16 gig ram / Intel 2600k processor

Hi Jerry
I frequently search along the timeline for still pics from my videos and get lags of 5 seconds all the time....most annoying.
I wondered if it was due to lack of space on my 120gb C drive so got a 240 gb and it made no difference. (though I still love my ssd)
As it happens to me daily I would love to see a solution but im afraid nothing i have done has got rid of it.
good luck
David
The SDHC card to hardrive is extremely fast.

I like it also as I usualy have a few seperate edits on the go and input files from the SD 900 to the relevant folders

I travel a bit as well and its convenient to transfer your video to whatever PC or laptop you have access to
I think a desktop is a must for HD editing...laptops dont hack it.

The files from the SD900 are AVCHD with file extension .MTS

I use a card reader to transfer and have never linked my camera to the PC
Yes I use the Panasonic HDC -SD 900 and have no problems editing and burning Dvds in PD10 Ultra. The results are great.

However burning Blu-rays on PD10 with these files leads to video/audio sync problems in my case

cheers
David
Have not done that, though I use CCleaner daily and I believe this is a similar process
Hi Carl
Yes, space on C drive still missing after restart.

I started with 151GB free last week and i am down to 145gb.

I got my new 240GB SSD to comply with the 100GB free on your C drive rule when editing HD, so I am keen to protect my space on this drive

That's why I am wondering if this is commonplace with PD10?

cheers
David
