I understand what you are saying. The original file is 1280x720 and even when I choose that resolution for the output it does the same.
I am comparing this to ULEAD DVD Movie Factory 7 which does not do this and when I choose h.264 it reduces the overall space on the disc significantly.
The only reason I am trying Cyberlink is that on one file that is 7.5gb it took 26 hrs to render and it still had 2% to go using ULEAD.
My Issue in this case may be the file. I took 88 small clips and combined them into one file. I am going to try and redo it and see if that helps. But ULEAD DVD MF 7 did not behave as did Power Director.
Mind you I have a Core i7 with 12gb RAM and (3) 30gb SSD drives in raid0 and it still took 26hrs. Does not make sense.
I hear you it doesn't make sense. I was thinking you might be using original footage that was similar to the output. But I thought an example might help. It didn't really. Sorry about that!
26 hours to render seems way out of bounds for your system. Although I can only guess that you graphic card has some power similar to your CPU and RAM specs.
How can we help? Not really sure.
I am sure other members want to see a DxDiag file of your system. Can you post one?
A screen shot of the entire editing screen, including the whole project length in the timeline.
Are all the video clips the same type? Or a mix? How did they originate? A camera? Downloaded?
This sounds like an interesting problem to solve. Give us some details of your PC and the project and people here can sink their teeth into it to give you a better idea of how to proceed.
From the sounds of it, your project will fit on a single layer BluRay. You could always uncheck the burn to disc option and simply burn to a folder and see what the final folder size is to see if the estimate is actually accurate.
I am certainly not an expert! But I really enjoy tackling problems and working them through. Troubleshooting the problem successfully takes time and usually lots of input from many experienced people who simply won't give up!
Wait to hear back from you.
