I'm using PowerDirector to add subtitles to movies.
This means thousands of lines of subtitles.
I would love to give the subtitles some background, like light grey.
I saw this video here, but that won't work for me. It would mean adding a color board to every single place there is a subtitle in a movie (with thousands of lines of subtitles): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q667sgy5L80
Have I overlooked something or is there no way in PowerDirector (365) to very simply add some background to all subtitles? Or is that a feature that should be suggested to CyberLink?
Thank you,
Carsten.

Thank you for your help.
There was an AutoSave version that I could use.
Thank you very much!

I just opened my pds-file in TextPad and manually edited some links to videos that were wrong.
After saving the edited file I only get a blank screen when opening it in PowerDirector.
I open PowerDirector, open the file and get a blank screen... as in opening an empty script.
Bummer!
What can I do to make the file readable again?
(I have tried re-opening the file in TextPad, to see if the file had been damaged, but it looks ok. It just won't open properly in PowerDirector anymore).
Thank you.
Carsten.

I have created a movie from quite a lot of video clips.
I have now moved the clips, PowerDirector and PD files to a new computer.
Accidentally, when opening the movie for the first time on the new computer, when PD asked for the correct location of the video clips, I clicked on the wrong files.
This means that the movie now opens a wrong clip in certain places.
I have tried, on the PD timeline, to right-click those clips to see, if I could just edit what file it should open, but that doesn't seem to be the solution.
It is a rather long movie containing many video clips, so I don't want to go through having to insert the correct clip and then finding the correct time setting etc. again.
Is there an easier way on the timeline to change an inserted video clip's location?
Thank you,
Carsten.

I have PowerDirector 13 Ultra.
I just wanted to hear if someone could help me with the preview windows:
When I am editing a movie, I can normally click on/highlight a video in the video library and see a preview of it in the video windows to the right.
But when I try to do that, the windows is just blank and I only hear the sound from the video. It is only when I drag the video to the timeline, that I can see the video.
The same thing seems to happen under 'Capture':
When I want to use a webcam to capture a video, nothing happens on the preview windows to the left. It's just black.
The video does capture and record, but I can only see it after I have finished recording. There is nothing in the window WHILE recording.
My laptop PC: Lenovo Z50, 8GB RAM, full HD screen, Nvidia GeForce
(in other words it shouldn't be the computer hardware that causes the problems)
I really hope someone can tell me what to do,
Carsten.

Hi, I have PowerDirector 13 Deluxe and would like to upgrade to Ultra, to be able to burn Blurays.
But when I open the Store on the Cyberlink website and look at Ultra, there is a dropdown box saying 'Upgrade from 11/12 non-Ultra'.
It doesn't say '13 non-Ultra'.
Does this mean the upgrade won't work on my 13 Deluxe edition?

I am using PowerDirector 12.
I wanted to create a video using clips from different sources, i.e. from different cameras and with different framerates.
I have clips from a JVC video camera with 25fps PAL.
And I have clips from a Samsung cell phone with 60.03fps and 30.02fps.
After editing and putting the finished movie on a Blu-Ray the result is just bad:
I have set the PowerDirector project's general framerate to 25fps PAL, and the resulting video, with clips from the above mentioned sources makes the video seem 'bouncing' and not 'smooth' especially in the clips where I pan.
What it your advice on this? Can I create a better video, a more smooth video, still using clips from the before mentioned different sources with different framerates?
Carsten.

Thank you both for your help and advice.
borgus1, I tried your advice and it worked just like I hoped it would.

I have 2 PowerDirector projects. Both with subtitles.
Can I copy a part of project 1's video including subtitles and insert it into project 2?
That is, I want to merge parts of project 1 and project 2 including subtitles. Copying video parts between projects is possible, but can the subtitles - and their time codes - be copied/moved as well, or will I have to create new subtitles after merging the two video parts?

I uninstalled Daemon Tools and that did it! PowerDirector can now see the DVD drive and I can burn my movies.
Thank you for all your help!
|
|
Yes I have Daemon Tools installed. I have tried to uninstall and run PowerProducer again, but same result...
|
|
Very strange.
The drive is okay, it was already given burning rights.
And yes, I have inserted the blank DVD before I clicked 'Create Disc' :
Another funny thing: In 'my computer' it says that I have two drives. My DVD drive (D) AND a Blu-Ray Drive (E).
I do not have a Blu-Ray Drive!
This is the list when I click 'hardware' under 'my computer':
DTSoftBusCd00 - DVD/CD-Rom drive
Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170A ATA Device - DVD/CD-Rom drive
I have burned DVD's with success with other programs, but PowerDirector 9 won't let me...
|
|
It is a DVD drive, and I have previously burned DVDs - both R and RW in other programs.
How do I give it burning rights, if that's the problem? I have Windows 7.
Thank you for all your help!
|
|
When I try to burn my movie, the program does not seem to be able to "see" my DVD burner drive.
On the "final output" screen the "current drive" field is blank.
I am on a Windows 7 computer.
My DVD drive is an Optiarc AD-7170A RW
I also have Nero installed.
I have tried to update the Optiarc driver.
Why can't PowerDirector 9 see my DVD burner drive when my other programs can?
