Thanks for the reply, BD? HE?

Turns out that all the MB have video connectors so I will go with i7 6700 or variant

Eugene
This is a bit off topic but has been posted before

My 6 year old i7920 bit the dust, I want to replace the MB, memory and processor.

Is there a i7 processor available w/o graphic output ?. I will use my old GTX960 so I do not need that but it seems all Icore 6700 have them.

A newer version of the old 920 would be fine plus new matching MB ATX size.

Thanks

Eugene
I came across a program called FREEMAKE that is very simple, includes menus and mostly maintains the quality of the original videos. About 5 hours of Youtube SD can be placed on a 4.7GB disc w/o material PQ loss.

PD14 picture quality under those circumstances, even with only 2 videos is unwatchable considering that the original quality is limited to begin with.

Thanks for all your help.

Eugene.
Jeff, yes that is exactly right, these are German films downloaded from Youtube, according to Mediainfo the bitrate is 500Kb and the PQ surprisingly good, even watchable on a 70" screen.
So I guess the problem is PD14 re-encoding at a much higher bit rate.

Not sure what the lowest bitrate is that a player can handle.

The idea was to put those films on a disc so that some of our friends could watch them.

Eugene
Thank you Jeff

Your description is idiot proof and it works.

The problem I have now is space, 4 SD videos at 2GB TOTAL, 6hrs playing time need over 20GB on the BR disc.
I wonder why there is a nearly 10 to one difference? I am using the lowest 264 SD 60i setting, same as in your outline

Eugene
Carl and Jeff, thank you both.

So far I tried the chapter method described by Carl. 10 of the SD videos add up to app 7Gb as is, yet within PD14 when I try the chapter method it ads up to 60GB !! using the lowest SD setting at 60i. So I can only use a few videos at the time.

Have not tried Jeffs suggestion yet, will be next.

Thank you guys !!!

Eugene

PS

Just received a SEIKI SR4KPI from B+H at $50, it is multi region , I do have many region 2 DVDs. It is region free for BR as well. Upscales to 4K but I disabled that since the 4K TV does a good job at that but has only one 4K 60Hz HDMI 2.0 input. I use that input to play UHD at 60Hz from thePC. Very happy with it.
I would like to burn about 20 SD MP4 videos onto a 25GB BR disc so they can be watched individually.

Can that be done?

Thanks

Eugene
Quote: Well, if PowerDVD 17 comes with UHD BR player, then we can assume that PowerDirector 16 will have UHD BR authoring

That is an entire year man, I am 83 years old!!!
It is my understanding that they are entire program files, including the updates fixes.

Eugene
Would be nice if they acknowledged our efforts and gave us a list of improvements added from this Forum PDR15 Wishlist

AIS, AMEN!

Quote: Hello
just to be sure: Upgraded from PD 14 to 15.
Can i uninstall PD 14 after installing PD 15 without loosing anything?

Thank you in advance

This is what the CL support confirmed me today....

just have to test to be sure !laughing

Play it safe and make a full backup before deleting 14. In the past I have always deleted the old version w/o any ill effects.

However they can run peacefully side by side.

Good luck

Eugene

Backing up should be a regular part of pc maintenance.
Watched Malieks excellent video, unfortunately there is nothing new or useful for me in in PD15.

Maybe it will burn 60P HD Br that work on my Sony player?

Actually I use TsMuxer to make that possible.

No UHD BR burning, bummer.

Sorry about the sour note.

Eugene
"Disable shadow files" That is your problem right there.

Enable them and you will be fine. Your pc is not fast enough to edit HD without them.

Your final output will be HD .

Eugene
I do not yet have a BDXL burner but UHD BR is supposed to read 25?, 33?, 50, 66, 100, and 128GB discs.
All is needed is the likes of a UHD version TsMuxer or similar to tell the player the location of the video files to be played.

Wonder why Cyl has not included it. Could be licensing fees and very little demand for this feature. If it is fees Cyl could make it a plugin and charge accordingly.

Seems like I have spend days googling this feature w/o any luck.

The latest LG BDXL internal disc player will read UHD disc, showing all folders etc but no playback because of the encryption.

Reminds me when BR came out. Pinnacle had a plugin for a nice fee that allowed me to do HD AVCHD burning. What a thrill that was!!
Eugene
Still shell shocked about UHD BR not being part of PD15.

Wonder if there is a licensing fee that kept it out of PD15.

CY could of course produce a plug-in for a fee that would enable this feature.

Over the last few month I have spend hours googling for a UHD BR authoring program, so far nothing that I could afford.

Eugene
Well Barry I was afraid of that, so I will pass on PD15 since with the exception of UHD BR, PD14 has all the features I need. Bummer!!

Eugene
Do they offer UHD BR disc burning??

Thanks

Eugene
This thread was opened on Sept 16 2015. So we might see PD15 at the end of this month??

One feature it must have for me is burning of UHD BR, there are now several desktop UHD players available and their prices are dropping and will drop even more by xmas time.

Gene

Anybody aware of a UHD BR burning program?
I do not have win10 so no help there. But a new install of PD14 might help.

Good luck

Eugene
My computer is a 5 year old i7920, 12GB and a 960 too and I have no problem editing 4K videos even 90 min long but I am using the PD shadowfiles, w/o them I would not be able to do even 5 min in 4K.

I am surprised the mandatory use of shadowfiles for 4K was not mentioned in the previous replies.

What Ken is suggesting is the same thing (and it works well) except shadowfiles are done automatically by PD

It means that all your editing is done in SD but the final product is UHD

SoNic67,

265 is at 35Mb and 264 at 60Mb.

That is also the setting of the AX100 camcorder. Did try the 4K AX100 at 100Mb for a while but found that it made a difference only in rare circumstances, so I went back to 60Mb.

Increasing the 265 bitrate would without a doubt improve the video quality but at the expense of storage space. One of my videos, a 4K 32 min video in 265 takes 8.2 GB of space, in 264 12.2 GB, the space saving is not worth the trouble.

the main reason for my use of 265 is that our 70" VIZIO Tv USB port will not handle 264 4K but only in 265 format.

Most of my own video is shown as 4K 60P 264 via HDMI2 from the PC that is app 10"away from the TV.

More UHD players are showing up in the market place, with PD 15 it might just fall into place with improved encoding.

Eugene

Just love that GTX960, thanks for bringing that up some time ago. It reduced the 265 encoding time from DAYS to just Hours.
