I would like to burn about 20 SD MP4 videos onto a 25GB BR disc so they can be watched individually.

Can that be done?

Thanks

It can be done.

I had problems making a Bluray disk with titles. I was using Powerdirector 14, I do not know if the problem is fixed in PD 15.

I had closed captions in some of the project files, but they did not appear when making titles. I aslo lost sound.

When I changed to Chapters, no problem, all titles played. And all Captions worked.

You can make multiple titles on a single BD disk if you do not use an Menu (No Menu Option). No menu kind of defeats the reason for multiple titles.

You have to try it to see what your result is. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Eugene, If it was me I’d do the following so each of the 20 independent clips could be played back easily. To do this they can be just the MP4 file or if each was already editing and saved in independent pds projects that will work too.
1) Simply start a new PD project and go to Create Disc
2) Import each of the 20 pds files one by one or each MP4 one by one, see PD14_SD_BD.png
3) Create a menu as desired
4) Set H.264 SD option as shown in PD14_SD_BD2.png
5) I put 10 of the individual video’s on each page so I will have two pages, each video can be played individually
6) Configure what to do after a title is played as shown in PD14_SD_BD3.png
7) For most compatible playback, make sure your do not check “Enable hardware video encoding” since I believe you use a GTX960
8) Burn
9) My project of the following plays back fine in several players. You get SD 720x480 at about 7Kbps.

Carl and Jeff, thank you both.

So far I tried the chapter method described by Carl. 10 of the SD videos add up to app 7Gb as is, yet within PD14 when I try the chapter method it ads up to 60GB !! using the lowest SD setting at 60i. So I can only use a few videos at the time.

Have not tried Jeffs suggestion yet, will be next.

Thank you guys !!!

Eugene

PS

Just received a SEIKI SR4KPI from B+H at $50, it is multi region , I do have many region 2 DVDs. It is region free for BR as well. Upscales to 4K but I disabled that since the 4K TV does a good job at that but has only one 4K 60Hz HDMI 2.0 input. I use that input to play UHD at 60Hz from thePC. Very happy with it.

With Chapters you can not watch them individually as OP stated was the goal. You will simply get one played through, on to the next, on to the next. Yes, you can start viewing at a specific chapter, or return and select a new chapter from the menu, but then it plays through. With titles, and in particular the step 6 selection, one can set accordingly to watch each individually as OP desired.

It's not really the size of your MP4's it's the duration, you can fit ~10 hrs SD video on 25GB BD disc when using H.264, less when changed to MPEG2.

Thank you Jeff

Your description is idiot proof and it works.

The problem I have now is space, 4 SD videos at 2GB TOTAL, 6hrs playing time need over 20GB on the BR disc.
I wonder why there is a nearly 10 to one difference? I am using the lowest 264 SD 60i setting, same as in your outline

Not sure on the source of your MP4, since MP4 is just a container and various video formats could be contained therein, I'd suspect simply one with a very good compression. Was it by chance like a stream download as they provide video in a very efficient often multipass encoding to keep the bitrate low in the source to keep file size low and to minimize bandwidth while keeping very high quality. Like the older DivX days with PD, very efficient codec most notable for its ability to compress into small size while maintaining high visual quality.

Jeff, yes that is exactly right, these are German films downloaded from Youtube, according to Mediainfo the bitrate is 500Kb and the PQ surprisingly good, even watchable on a 70" screen.
So I guess the problem is PD14 re-encoding at a much higher bit rate.

Not sure what the lowest bitrate is that a player can handle.

The idea was to put those films on a disc so that some of our friends could watch them.

I came across a program called FREEMAKE that is very simple, includes menus and mostly maintains the quality of the original videos. About 5 hours of Youtube SD can be placed on a 4.7GB disc w/o material PQ loss.

PD14 picture quality under those circumstances, even with only 2 videos is unwatchable considering that the original quality is limited to begin with.

Thanks for all your help.

I'll have to try that freemake video converter to make such low bitrate videos from YT. Thanks for the info.
