??? I have this feeling that it wont happen? Can someone please confirm any of this?
|
|
So I went to do some digging at the arcsoft total media 5 forum site and found out that that software is also having the same problems playing star wars with the pixelation and the 100% CPU core problem. Hearing this worries me if they will be able to play these movies corectly
|
|
If you read about the previous update and the current problem people are having with star wars, you will see why! These are delta updates. Only patching! Which still needs to be fixed.
|
|
Unfortunately with this new update star wars still plays with all the Artifacting and pixelation. . Not good cyberlink.

Michael any word on when you're next update on the iphone app for powerdvd 11 ultra? I mentioned earlier months ago about being able to use it in windows media center and being able to bring up the info menu buttons??
Hopefully please!!
|
|
My Media Center remote which is rc 6 is not functioning correctly. In cinema mode and windows media center mode the fast forward button and back button skip two chapters ahead and it runs fine with the remote in regular powerdvd 11 ultra mode.
??? Damn its always one thing after another. Can never get a break.
I've gone and unistalled the media center remote from the usb's and reinstalled and still functioning the same. Please help with this fix.
|
|
whats the deal with this? I know i couldn't play them correctly in power dvd 10 ultra either??

Hey guys i think i have a possible fix?? It's been working for me!
I think ive located the problem!
When im watching a blu-ray it stutters because is installing a windows update in the back ground. So what i've set it to do is select the box in windows update options to "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.
This has fixed my stuttering so far which makes me very happy! I think whats going on is that it interrups the video playback when its downloading and installing the update. i noticed it creates a restore point and thats when it stutters. Try this guys!
Manoroid i have to be the tech geek and ask which update yours is downloading to install? Where are you watching this activity that it indicates an update is being downloading and then installed? i am guess on the systray next to the clock?

Going back to the old drivers fixed my problem. Wonder if Nvidia will ever resolve the issue in upcoming drivers. Another issue I've found is that Tron Legacy won't play in the trial version of Power DVD 11. It will read the disk and come up to a screen with a play button and "resume" or "restart" to the right of item. No matter what I select, it will go back to the main power dvd screen. If I go back to my registered copy of Power DVD 10 Mark II, then it works fine.
Elcid95 Driver wise i think we need to push cyberlink and nvidia both. you will find anytime you contact tech support here they always want the latest drivers, but if the latest drivers have an issue that doesn't solve the root problem. We also need to keep posting on the nvidia forums and get them to realize these cards used to play video fine, but the latest drivers broke something. I am kind of hoping that cyberlink will reproduce the issue and agree the latest video drivers have an issue. Then cyberlink will talk to nvidia about an issue with video playback and the 2 of them can work on a fix. I am not sure, but i think since other video playback software has a similar issue we are looking at more of a driver issue that nvidia needs to inform video software developers of new code that fixes the issue when using their drivers or fix a bug they introduced in their code.
I have tron legacy, but i have not installed the powerdvd 11 trial yet. I will see if i can make a little time to test this. You are talking the standard tron legacy blu ray and not the 3d tron legacy blu ray correct?
Hey Larry,
No update in particular, but it only makes sense right now. Ive been testing for a couple days now and it seems to be working fine. No hitches whatsoever. Yes i am talking about standard windows updates from the bottom right hand tray. If you ever watch the updates in the full window you'll notice it downloads the file then shows creating restore point and install and thats when i think it halts the whole computer for a second and in our case powerdvd video playback.

DiAngelo, I just bought PowerDVD 11 and I can confirm it works with Windows Media Center on my Vista 32-bits HTPC box with IE9 installed.
However, the Play, Stop, Fast Foward, Next Chapter, etc functions of my Media Center Remote are not working but they used to work with PowerDVD 10. Could you guys please confirm that? The other functions, such as the arrows to select items on a menu, are working fine. Only the playback control functions aren't. Thank you!
Yes AndreGB i am having the exact same problem with my new upgrade. ONly buttons that work for me are the volume up and down , back , and info. Nothing else. I hope there is a fix for this. If anything im using the free app for my iphone hoping they add some other features to it then it will be complete.

I know what you mean Manoird.
I see that PowerDVD 11 is now out and even got its own sub forum. I got some new hardware and plan to put items through the testing this weekend so i can report back my findings. It is so sad i have 2 complete home theatre setups now in order to prove a point. I guess you could say i now have a testing area so i no longer have to interrupt family time, but it also means i will spend less time with them. I am sure that will not go over well either.
I am going to give some feedback that I have not formatted or verified, but might give some insight.
No tests ran at 1080p 24 since my old tv did not support that. My new TV does support 1080p 24 so i should have tests on that this weekend.
No tests ran with bypass of AVR. I have some testing and i had done prior to this request and will provide what i learned from it.
Ya Larry! Well i broke down and purchased PD 11 and it needs a little bit of patching but video playback is still working fine. Let me know how you're tests turn out.
I can make an ok blu ray experience by changing the HD audio bitstream to DTS/Dolby bitstream on the 266.58 driver. I see less problems this way and sometimes it is a near perfect playback at 720p 60hz. I suspect going to 2 channel hdmi audio directly to the TV will be the same, but i need to actually try it.
I located the beta driver that was recomended for the 460 and HD audio bitstreaming. Things were better, but once the HD audio bitstream was used it would not work again until i rebooted. I could force lpcm and dolby/dts bitstream and they would work, but the HD audio bitstream on a 2nd play attempt would not actually send audio information.
I also have ran a few tests with the 270.51 beta and had similar audio problems where i could play HD audio bitstreaming 1 time and the 2n play attempt it was broken.
here is a little chart i have started...

dts/dolby 3d blu ray improved playback and was near perfect.
dts ma/dolby truehd ocassional stuttering encountered, need to confirm but only 1 playback issue returned, 3d blu ray and hd audio bitstream played for a while, stuttered, audio dropped and never came back! Stopped movied, started movie, and audio returned.
These items were with extended monitor, AVR 1.3 high speed HDMI for HD audio - DVI video card to HDMI AVR, TV 1.4 high speed HDMI - Mini HDMI video card to HDMI TV!
258.96_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql I had hoped mixing the better video with the better hd audio driver would work, but it was a failure so far!

lpcm not at all, ever
dts/dolby working so far
dts ma/dolby truehd no HD audio at all, ever

So i can bring up the blue menu in WMC while i watch a movie. Thats the only thing i found out i couldn't do with it.

Haha you know what Larry? It's so weird ive pretty much going back and forth with older video drivers and new pdvd updates and I still got skips and pauses in everything. So I've done all I can with this software and i think it's just by chance something happens or not. To let you know I played through five blurays yesterday with out mostly skips and the one that gave me a problem was Avatar. That movie is encoded at such a High bit rate in accordance to sound and picture. That I can maybe understand why it would once and awhile skip. I have the special extended edition blu ray and I for the most part get skips on the new scenes ! It was just one but who knows??? Lol. Idk what's the deal with this software. Blu ray has been out long enough to the point where it should be a standard with zero free problems in playback.

Well a few things changed on you from your previous directx report. It looks like you may have rebooted or reapplied the latest 2701 patch. Now your files match mine where they were not before.
Sadly the change you indicated to be the deal breaker is not indicated in the report. I find it odd that extra options like that are not included in the report and will look closer later.
Also for some reason it almost looks like a portion of your registery was corrupt and is now fixed maybe dealing with your Game Port on the audio card. All the drivers were loading it seems, but the name was not present which is odd.
You reinstalled the video card drivers it seems.
I believe these new files from cyberlink may have also helped your situation.

lol sure thing man!
oh and one other thing, i noticed that if i uncheck the signal enhancements in the speaker properties/ advanced menu i got stuttering. So have it enabled!
|
|
Well Larry and Beachman I think i have fixed the problem and now there is no skipping and pausing of audio. To tell you the truth my setup sounds even better than if ever did.
What i did was i have had my soundblaster audigy 2 zs set to 24 bit 4800hz/ Studio quality in the win 7 speaker options/ advanced tab, for some odd reason that setting should work fine with the hd audio over multi channel analog.
So then i decided to bump it up one setting to 24 bit, 9600 hz studio quality and there is no more skipping / pausing.
And like i said on a more positive note my hd audio sounds even more of an hd clarity! My card is almost 6-8 years old and it performs at the top of its class.
I'm hoping this can help you guys and give others some insight on fixing this problem/glitch what ever you want to call it. I'm not going anywhere. I definitely want others to now enjoy there media center setups! I'll provide any insight where i can. Let me know guys! Thanks again for you're assitance.
|
|
Again Larry and Beachman, thanks for youre replies. Much appreciated! I did try the driver you mentioned but unfortunately that driver only works up to the gtx 400 series cards. It shut the install down on me. Bummer.
So i guess im out of luck...
Oh and yes I am using power DVD 10 ultra mark ii. With the latest update 2701
|
|
Yes Larry I've been using HD bitstreaming audio from my creative labs audigy 2 zs to a 5.1 multichannel out into my high end yamaha receiver. So we are clear im using all analog out of the computer, no hmdi at all.
Whats sad is that I have this monstrous gaming computer with the full capabilities of an hdcp home theater set up, and i can't even play smooth blu-ray playback.
In terms of drivers updated everything is up to date because the fact that i do play games. Also have the latest sound drivers for my audigy card. And to answer your question in an earlier post it doesn't show my card on this list for power dvd, but for the good 6-8 months everything was fixed so i know its not my sound card drivers but could be colliding somewhere with my video drivers. From my recollection i did long ago figure out that the nvidia driver update fixed my issue with skipping video/freezing/audio pausing. And now it has started up again. I guess i can't having everything with this pc
Right now my nvidia driver is 270.51 beta. I realize video skips and sound pauses with this one, but it paused with also the latest whql driver and still persists with the stutter.
Also can you confirm if any problems with installing ie 9 may have caused something like this?
I will provide the dxdiags both 32 and 64 versions hopefully we can fix this issue because all this stuttering/freezing takes away from the whole experience of watching movies with hd sound.
THanks
|
|
I keep getting this same problem too. Come on cyberlink please fix these things! I too think ie 9 has something to do with this issue! Everything has stopped working with playback and such. I've got latest drivers on everything i can think of and still nothing, plus ie 9 has been unistalled as well.
