If you are using PowerDirector to edit files off an Everio camera you do not need to change the file extension.
If you do need to if using other software, Google for EverioUtility or sdcopy.
Both work.

You are correct you cannot alter the audio levels on individual clips in PD Express.
I do not think you will be able upgrade to PD 6 or 7, I think you will have to buy a fresh copy.
You may be able to buy a copy of of PD6 which will be cheaper than Ver 7, there is not a lot of difference.

I am not sure which version of PwerDirector now comes with Everio cameras but when I got mine a couple of years ago it was PowerDirector Express NE.
I found it easy to master and adequate to produce an acceptable DVD, but audio editing was a bit limited.
Try it and if you like it buy a full copy, the latest version is PD7. You can pick up Ver6 which is little different but a lot cheaper.

You do not have to convert the .mod file extension of the video files to edit the clips using PowerDirector.
If you wish to change the file extension you can download a copy of SDCopy from this link:-

I think you are trying to play the clips without editing, they are not compatible with much software.
I have never done it but I believe they will then play in WMPlayer and VLC player.

I am sorry I an unable to answer your question, but I have experienced the same problem with video's previously edited using PD NE, PD6 and PD7

Thanks for the replies.
My ISP has been down for the last 2 days and during that time I have found out how to fade the titles.

How do you fade titles in and out

I feel you may have a problem with your system files
I had problems with my XP system files and PD6 stopped working correctly so I installed it on my wife's Vista laptop and it worked fine

Hi Dafydd,
Sorry about the spelling mistake.
I have downloaded the patch and installed it and all now seems OK.
I can't understand why the software suddenly failed as it has worked fine until now.
My camera is a basic JVC MG21 Everio, looking at the spec. of the patch it appears that it just updates the software to enable editing of HD format files.

Hi Dafydd,
Re Part A:-
PowerDirector 6.001604a
SR Number
VDE070306-01
Licenced to:-
My Name
Part B:-
I have created and saved a Diaxdiag file to my Desktop. Do I send this to Cyberlink? I have attached a copy for your Info.
It does not make much sense to me, but I did the tests and they appeared OK.
One of the files d3d9d.dll has an exclamation mark against it. The notes at the bottom state:-
This file d3d9d.dll is a debug version, which will run slower than the retail version.
Part C
I found this on a previous post and had already carried it out. It has made no difference to PowerDirector on reinstall.
Prior to the reinstall of PD my copy of Media Player Classic worked OK but now it doesn't, but Windows Media Player is OK.

I have edited the video files shot on my recent holiday and whilst I have been editing the audio I have encountered a problem.
When playing the individual clips or the movie the screen is blank although the progress bar is moving and I can hear the audio.
I have un-installed the software and reinstalled it to no avail.
I have also downloaded the raw video files to the software, the individual files will show when clicked on but when I drag them to the timeline and play them they do not.

I am sure this has been asked before.
How do you fade titles Up and Out on the title track
|
|
It is probably a long shot but you could try googleing for file recovery software like Free Undelete, PC Inspector File Recovery or PC Inspector Smart Recovery.
Sometimes it is given free on magazine discs. Try the latest PCAnswers Mag. No 181

What problems do you refer to.
I have used PD Express NE and Ver 6 with no problems.
|
|
I have Googled PD5 and it appears to only work with Windows 2000 and XP.
|
|
I have an Archos AV700 and have not yet used PD6 to convert any files to use on it. I believe iPods use the same Mpeg4 video format as does the Archos.
|
|
When I first installed PD Express NE it had the CD key within the software on the disc.

Hi Craig
I think you may have a problem using the PD Express NE supplied with the camera I think it is only suitable for XP or earlier.
I liked the software so I bought PD6 which is supposed to work in Vista but some people have had problems.
|
|
I have a copy of PD6 which states on the box it is suitable for Vista, (my system is XP) and it works fine.
I recall reading elswhere of PD6 problems with Visa, but sadly I cannot remember where. If I locate it I will get back.
In the past I have contacted tech. support but found they were slow to respond and their grasp of English grammar left something to be desired.

This info is not shown anywhere on the Cyberlink web pages.
It took me a long time emailing Cyberlink. Their customer service I believe is in the far east and their grasp of English grammar is not all it might be, for me to get a satisfactory explanation from them.
