Thanks for you suggestions. You are correct, I am mixing stereo. I have one more question. If there is no voice recording and the audio is stereo background music should I mute the center channel to get better stereo separation?
thanks,

Thanks for your reply. Your suggestion will work for some tracks.
I have a general question about surround sound since I just installed my system. To get the best effect should I have audio come only from the front speakers and then use the rear speakers only when it seems appropriate for some sounds. Or should I set the audio panner in the middle so some sound is always coming from all the speakers all the time and use the rear speakers for additonal sounds.
thanks,

Is using the surround sound panning tools awkward when making a video project to burn to disc in PD? For instance if there is a fairly long complex project on the timeline that has multiple audio tracks does one have to go back and forth from PD to audio director to ajust the surround pan for each audio clip on each track? Or once in audio director can you stay in that mode and adjust the panning for all the audio tracks without going back and forth from PD to audio director?
thanks,
HT

I am still using PD 11. Keeping things in sync is difficult with long projects. An example would be if I have a 90 min project on the timeline with multiple tracks and I want to add an additional clip on the main track that is close to the beginning or even at the midpoint of my project. If I do that all tracks below and to the right of the insert point get out of sync with the main track. With short projects I simply lasso all the tracks to the right of the insert point and move them to the right to create a gap. Then I can insert a clip on the main track and the tracks to the right of the insert stay in sync. After the insert I lasso the clips I moved to the right and place them back where they belong on the timeline. That is I move them to the left to close the gap.
The problem is it is impossible to accurately lasso an hour worth of video with PD 11.
My question is "has there been any updates in PD 13 to help keep long complex projects in sync"?
thanks,
HT

I am making a bluray disc. In the edit room I have created chapter points with thumbnails. When I view the thumbnails in the create disc room the thumbnails are magnified. The screen shots I made will show that the word feature presenation can be read in the thumbnail in the edit room but some of the letters are cut off in the make disc room disc preview area.

I need some video taken from the air from a drone or perhaps a jet. The camera would have to be in a position so the plane or drone would not be seen. I would like video of flying high over a city or over clouds or mountains. I want to do a wonder woman flying in the sky scene like superman flies.
I have been searching you tube but have not found anything good.
Any suggestions?

I just purchased a second hard drive. It is 7200 rpm and 3TB. Currently I have all my video stored on the main drive which is partitioned. The operating system (windows 7) being separated from everything else.
Should I move all my video, pictures, and music to the second drive? It is a external drive with usb 3 connection. Is there any disadvantage to doing this?
thanks,

I did ask TiVo. I downloaded TiVo desktop and was able to transfer the file to my computer but it cannot be loaded in PD. I tired converting the file with youtube downloader but it crashed.
Windows media player will play the file but it cannot be loaded in Windows disc burning software. I also tried Pinnacle studio 14 which I still have on my computer and it also does not recognize the file.
Maybe I could play it on my computer and get software that can record what is playing on my pc monitor?

I have some movies stored on my TiVo DVR hard drive and would like to burn some to DVD. I believe TiVo files are encrypted and PD would not likely recognize them. Does anyone know of a free program that can transcode a TiVo file to one that PD can handle such as Mpeg 4?
thanks, Ht

Hi Carl
As long as I disable the things I mentioned I get a very high quality high definition video burned to a standard DVD which I play on my bluray player. I burn AVCHD HD1920x1080/60i. But if I leave smart fit, hardware acceleration, and true theater surround checked the video is very poor.
I just was wondering if with PD 13 if would have to do the same thing.

I have never used Audio director so I have a few basic questions. I am considering upgrading to PD 13 since Audio director is included with today's sale.
My main interest is using it to author discs with surround sound. Does it work well for this? Also if I use the noise removal tool and later change my mind and I want the original audio back can that be done?
thanks,

With PD 11 I have to uncheck smart fit, hardware acceleration, and true theater surround sound when I author a DVD using AVCHD files. If I don't the video is not very clear.
Would I have to do this in PD 13?

Is audio director easy to learn? Are there good tutorials? Is it easy to make surround sound settings for Bluray authoring?

I am thinking of purchasing PD 13 ultra (cyber Monday sale). Can someone explain to me in easy steps how to make my own backup copy? Should I just download the software to a thumb drive first and then do an install from there? Or do I need to copy everything from the thumb drive to my C drive and then install? I assume once the software has been installed to the computer making a backup copy would be difficult.
After this how do I clean my computer of my old versions power director 9 and 11. I assume the new version will have everything the old versions had plus more.

Is there a tutorial how to do this in pd?
For example say I want the sound from the top track (main track consisting of video and audio) to be heard only from the front two speakers. I want the music from track 2 (audio only) to come from only the two back speakers. And I want the sound of a jet fly by on track 3 to start from the back speakers and slowly transfer to the front speakers.
How do I do this?

I just got 5.1 surround sound for my 55 inch TV. My current powerdirector 11 does not seem to have a way to direct audio to front and rear speakers and right and left speakers. I am interesting in creating Bluray discs with surround sound.
Can pd 13 do this?
thanks,
Ht
