Sony MovieStudio Platinum 13 has this feature as does Serif MoviePlus X6. I can select any object on any track without the cursor moving. Having to add a marker every time you want to get back to a spot on the timeline is very time consuming.

Good question. Here's just ONE example. I edit our church service every Sunday. It usually is a 1 hour video on the timeline. Titles for the minister, music leader, Bible reader is the same every Sunday, so I have them on the title track and just substitute the current Sunday service on the video timeline. Obviously, the titles would not appear at the same point on the timeline every Sunday, so when I get to the point on the timeline where I want to bring up pastor's name, I have to drag his applicable tiltle from the title track over to the appropriate spot on the timeline. BUT, when I select the title to drag over to the precise spot on the timeline, the cursor moves, and I've lost the spot on the timeline where I want to drag the title to.

I wish Cyberlink would look into this cursor jumping thing. The above ties in with another cursor action that is annoying: anytime you select an object up or down the timeline, the cursor jumps to that object rather than staying put on the timeline.

I changed both the User Variables and System Variables to my Z:\ drive (Z:\TempFiles). The system temps files sure enough went there, but the PowerDirector temp files still go to C Users\Jerry\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\13. Did I do it correctly?
Can I change where my temp files, such as waveforms, etc, are stored? Would like to be able to put them on a separate drive from th C:\ drive.

Thank you. I'm aware it could be done that way, but that would mean placing 60 markers along the timeline (too time consuming, may as well drag the slider). One editing program I used previously used a hotkey (I think it was page up/page down) to jump through the timeline. Hoping there was one in PD that I hadn't found.

OK, let me see if I can explain it this way. Suppose you have a 2 hour movie on your timeline, have your cursor at the beginning of the movie and are zoomed in on the timeline so that 2 minutes shows in the timeline. So that "full timeline" would be from 00:00:00:00 to 00:02:00:00. The next full timeline would be 2 minutes to 4 minutes, etc. In other words, a "full timeline" would be worth 2 minutes of video. What I would like to do is quickly jump in 2 minute segments without having to use the slider at the bottom of the timeline. Make sense?
I knew most I didn't make myself clear- my bad. Here's what I meant to convey. I would like to be able to see "a timeline full" - hit a key and see the next full timeline, hit a key and see the next full timeline, etc. on down the line to the end of the project without having to do that by dragging the slider at the bottom of the timeline-if that make sense. Being able to do that would enable me, for example, to examine a chunk of the timeline and quickly pick out bad sections.

Is there a way to make the timeline cursor jump from wherever it is, say near the beginning, to the end of the timeline (not the end of a clip or the project)

Thanks much!

I have a video recording that has sound only in the L channel. How can I put the same sound on the R channel, so that I have sound in both L and R channels?
Thanks for your suggestion. That would certainly work, but require an extra step or two. Be much simpler if could hold down shift key when making selection to case slider to stay put. I have put the question to CyberLink. Maybe they will consider it for the next patch.
Here's just one reason I would not want it to do that. Suppose you're at a precise point on the timeline and want to move a title to that precise point. When you select the title to move it there, you lose the precise point. Make sense?
How can I select say a title located somewhere in the timeline without the timeline slider jumping to that position?
Is there any way to increase the height of the audio waveform of a video file to make it easier to see specific sound locations. I know I can make the track higher, but that doesn't make the wavefom higher. There is plenty of sound volume, because when opened in audio director, shows up nicely.

Thanks. Great looking program! Couple of questions: (1) Have you tried it in PD13? (2) Does it eliminate the use of all other hotkeys, or just add these to them?
Thanks for your reply. I'm new to PowerDirector and obviously used the wrong terminology. I meant the "Timeline Slider" instead of "Cursor." So, my question should have been is there any way to select a clip on the timeline without the timeline slider jumping to it? Being a newbie, I didn't quite get your answer to my second question.

There are times when I would like to select a clip on the timeline without the cursor jumping to that clip. How do I do that? In other programs I've used, I could hold down shift key when I selected a different clip & the cursor would stay put. Also, is there a one key operation whereby I can split a clip & remove what's left of the clip to the left of the cursor; and vice versa, split a clip & remove what's left to right of cursor? Thanks

Hi,
You should approach Technical Support with your enquiry: https://membership.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/index.do
I'm not aware of any work-around. I believe your concerns are ill-founded (sorry to dismiss them) and certainly do not feature in my use of the program and have not been a problem for members here. many softwares' security require online activation, even the operating system (W7) does, PD9 is no different and many software are moving in that direction.
Best of luck with whatever you decide.
The forum is a great place to pose questions.
Even Microsoft will let you activate by phone!

That's a shame. Is it possible to pay a small fee to get this done? I really like the program, but have had such bad experiences editing on PC connected to the internet. If I don't use antivirus programs, I invariably get bugs that wreak havoc with my editing programs; if I use antivirus, the programs themselves interfere. So, unless there's a non internet solution, I will have to ask for a refund, and discontinue use of PD9.

I have just purchased PD9 Ultra 64 and the first time I tried to create a DVD, I got messages to activate MPEG2, H.264, and DVD6C. The PC on which I have installed PD9 does not have any internet capability. Can I activate these by phone, email, or from another PC that has internet connection?
